ROFLMAO wow! 1241 negative votes? This has to be a first haha. Yeah Apple really screwed themselves this time for making this such a big deal when this crap could have been big like 7 years ago I guess (Don't remember how long it has been since Apple tried to get the The Beatles on iTunes).

I think that's really only refected here where something more tech related was expected. As for the general population I think this is big news and many people are happy and have their credit cards out.

why so many negative ratings? it's like 10 negatives per positive? is it because people are disappointed that the announcement wasn't something better or because there is something wrong with the pricing or what?

the announcement gave the perception to many people that something big would be released. instead apple added just another band to itunes. so many people feel underwhelmed.

Interesting. For me RodThePlod's post is listed as #993 on page 40 of this thread. Am using Chrome 7.0.517.44 in 10.6.5 (10H574).
Just checked and it's now #993 but it was #1002 when I first posted. I'm guessing the Mods deleted some of the more over the top troll comments from earlier.

To be honest with you man, I think the Beatles stuff is bland and terrible. I hear a lot of it at university (where one is exposed to a plethora of different music) and every time I think to myself how I could have done the same thing if I was born earlier. They strike me as a poor mans CCR.

That's just it.

No one did what The Beatles did at the level that they did it before they did it.

Not sure why everyone is so upset. Is this the biggest release on iTunes? Yes, but besides the teaser splash page, it's very similar to what they did for Led Zeppelin a couple of years ago.

It's called marketing.

It's just so odd that so many readers on this thread are so negative. Imagine if they put their energies into a positive useful pursuit, instead of being negative on a forum that means nothing.

The question is, would it have hit 1000 posts and then some if Apple hadn't said this will be a day we'll never forget! Those are some smart PR cookies working for Apple there.

Exactly - they have fine-tuned the techniques of getting people to talk about their products and offerings.

I'll betcha by the time I get home from work tonight, my wife will know the Beatles are on iTunes. Their ability to get the message out is absolutely astounding

Have Apple actually done anything wrong? All they did was to advertise the fact that something was going to happen tomorrow. This thing happened. All the rumours about what this thing was are still that, rumours.

Its a generation thing. I am pushing 30 and I still listen to the 80's metal I grew on. Now my tastes have matured I listen to a lot of Pink Floyd and Led Zepplin now. I have tried to get into the Beatles but I can't do it. I like a few songs a lot but the ones I don't like I really don't like. The music hasn't aged as well as something like Black Dog or Money. Those songs still kick ass even today.

The Beatles have been going strong for 40 years because they appeal to a wide audience. Metal is kind of a narrow audience but if you're into Metal then the Beatles will appear too tame for you (except maybe for Helter Skelter). Zeppelin is harder and Floyd is just different from anything else out there (great with a Bong Hit!)

Again to me its not the actual advertising but the timing. People where expecting to make some sense out of the crazy moves Apple has been making with there product roadmap.

I've heard that argument before and it holds no water. The Beatles transcend generations and always have. Sinatra himself said Something was the greatest love song ever written.
You think you're going to be listening to Eminem and other Rap garbage when you're 60 years old?
Yes. Ready to Die, Illmatic, The Marshall Mathers LP, all great albums. I don't base my taste in music on the opinions of Frank Sinatra or others

CCR? Two very different sounds but I dig CCR also.
I think music today is so much harder and rougher than it was even 20 years ago that anything musical will seem bland. I think it's a shame but I bet in 10 years or so you'll appreciate it more.

See what I mean? When you resort to personal insult, you've lost the debate. Better luck next time.

Yet you've been calling people trolls left and right this whole thread. Maybe you should take a step back. Apple decided to make it front page material when it was deep PR section material. This left some people feeling some negativity, nothing you should feel personally responsible for.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

Apple where right!! I will never forget this day!! as the biggest letdown since they removed FireWire from iPods ;(

Any word on the release of the remainder of the Rutles catalog? Right now only "The Rutles" is available on iTunes... let's keep our fingers crossed

I haven't, actually. Feel free to review my posts. I called one person a troll. One.

No big deal. I've had the box sets (stereo and mono) since they were released. Most people really interested in the Beatles probably has. Nice for those that don't have some of the CDs and/or the younger generation moving forward.

Right, but that doesn't matter anymore. When your music is that old, just being the first to do it just doesn't mean the same thing. Their music isn't timeless. To me, that's why they're irrelevant now.

This Really is a Great Day!

I love all the people complaining about the big announcement being The Beatles coming to iTunes. Seriously folks?! All I have read for YEARS is people complaining about iTunes not carrying a single song of theirs. All that was on there were remakes of specific songs that weren't even that great. Now we have The Beatles on iTunes. After many many years of waiting, we have them. Now what?! A leading majority of people are disappointed because they wanted some new technology?! Come on folks, why must we as Apple users, be so hard to please all the time?! We wanted Newton, we got iPod, disappointment, sold huge in the end. We wanted Mac OSX on a Tablet, got iOS. Many were like "What's with the big iPod Touch?!" Well, it sold big in the end, and lots of people love it. Honestly folks, if Apple were to release a new version of iTunes tomorrow and it had streaming, you would manage to find something wrong with it and complain about it too.

I for one, am happy that The Beatles are here, and that they sound pretty great too, even in a compressed digital format. I guess I am too easy to please though.
