30 years too late....... who cares anymore....... bought the cds many years ago

what's steve's obsession with the beatles?

It's not so much an obsession with the Beatles, as getting the Beatles on iTunes because they played so hard to get.

Most Beatles fans who didn't already have the CDs would have bought the highly-publicized and well-reviewed 2009 mono and stereo box sets. I'm in that category, so this is a big non-event for me. And many others.

I know a lot of you are thinking: "What I waited 24hrs for THIS!"

Wether you like the beatles or not, this is a HUGE milestone for Apple. They have been in discussion with Beatles copyright holders for years. I think you will start to see more iTunes resistants artist jump on the bandwagon.

I will be a little disappointed if this is the only announcement. But on the bright side a new generation of listeners will be exposed to "The Beatles" incredible catalog of music.

I agree that this is huge for Apple.
I just can't get my head around how its a day I'll never forget.

These CDs came out (and I bought them) on 9-9-09.
Only Apple can celebrate being over a year late to the party.

"Tomorrow's just another day." is what they imply you will never forget, referring to song lyrics. The second sentence, "That you'll never forget", refers to the first.

Holy mangled syntax batman! Seriously, that syntactic analysis simply does not work. Nice try though.

Big Announcement Today!

Say it ain't so, Steve, say it ain't so! (Now let's get on with iOS 4.2...THAT, I will not forget (for at least a week or two).

Well all this means is we won't take Apple's marketing as seriously next time.

There was a time when they actually understated most things. When they finally did the big reveal you were surprised (in a good way). I guess that time has passed. Now they're just going to abuse hyperbole like all the other consumer electronics companies.

I was secretly hoping for lossless tracks. I already own all the Beatles I need on CD and vinyl.

This is NOT exciting news for me. :(

I do wish Apple would make lossless versions available, even at higher cost (ala Musiczeit, what artists can choose todo on Bandcamp, etc.).

This doesn't feel like purchasing The Beatles collection, to me, if it's lossy. Not exactly the Beatles purchase of a lifetime. Boo.
