Video game Halo 3 earned more than £84m ($170m) in sales in its first 24 hours on release, according to Microsoft.
The game sets the record for the most money earned in a day by an entertainment product, topping figures set by film Spiderman 3.
...
Sales figures from European launches have yet to be added into the total.
More than 1.4 million people have gone online to play the title since its launch and more than four million online games of Halo 3 were logged in the last 24 hours.
EDIT: I have just finished reading the EDGE review and it's only the sixth game to get the coveted Ten
It took you an hour?
Yeah, the first few chapters were a bit of a bore-fest. Got really good after the 3rd one.
Multiplayer is awesome though.
anyone knows how to play halo 3 on a mac... I don't want to buy a 360 just to test it out.
Can't be done. Even if it could, you'd be walking down a very dubious road...
Well, until Bungie releases the Mac version of Halo 3, that is. Next summer, maybe? I'm only guessing.
I wouldn't have thought so, not the standard editions anyway.
Looks like M$ are really going all out for this launch though, look what engadget got.
I doubt anywhere in the next 5 years. It took them what, three years to port halo 2 from the XBox to Windows? I guess some of that came because they wanted to wait for Vista. We haven't even heard if Halo 2 is coming to the Mac, I doubt it will.
If you pay $60 and up for a game and finish it within 2 days, thats not money well spent. I would be rather ticked.

Halo 3 is running at.....640p? lol doesn't really matter but they are rendering it low then upscaling to keep the HDR running smoothly.
"In fact, if you do a comparison shot between the native 1152x640 image and the scaled 1280x720, it's practically impossible to discern the difference. We would ignore it entirely were it not for the Internet's propensity for drama where none exists. In fact the reason we haven't mentioned this before in weekly updates, is the simple fact that it would have distracted conversation away from more important aspects of the game, and given tinfoil hats some new gristle to chew on as they catalogued their toenail clippings."
Bungies response is priceless and on the mark though.
So sad, considering Bungie used to be a Mac-only developer...one of my (former) favorite ones, at that. Even if they ported it, I bet it would be the PC version with the Cider wrapper (or whatever that's called), anyway.
