This is what I think iPhone 4 has a good chance of having.

Samsung 4" Super AMOLED
A4 Processor built for iPhone
512 Ram
New Casing
5MP HD Recording Camera (back)

I think iPhone 4.0 OS will also see some noticeable changes with one of them being multi-tasking of some sort.

I think this will all happen while keeping and maybe even achieving better battery life.

That's my guess at iPhone 4 :)

I'd hope that the next iPhone looks like the iPad 3G. I really like the grey/white/black color of the iPad's GUI as well. Get rid of the blue.

+ 1. I want to see the iPhone designed similarly to the iPod Nano. Aluminum backing would be nice. But, I have heard that the plastic is better for signal strength.

That may be true about signal strength, but wouldn't it be the same as well for the iPad?

Yep. The iPad has an aluminum body as do most other macs, but I think the computers can house longer antenas and stronger radios than the small form factor of an iPhone. I still want to see the iPhone with an aluminum body though. ;)

they did it with the first iPhone, so I dont see a reason why they couldnt bring it back

Apple just needs to get with the times with this next update. The OS is looking dated as hell. And the hardware is being blown away. It's time to step up. I wish them good luck!

I would love to see Apple come out swinging in the next iPhone, revamped UI, the highest of high end OLED screen, huge battery in a tiny package, so on and so forth. I expect a slight hardware change, maybe a case redesign and some simple software upgrades.

The bottom part of the first gen was not aluminum to allow for the antenna, and it didn't have a GPS chip in it that also needed a signal. I have no idea how much a full metal back actually effects signal strength, it could be a lot, it could be none I would love to see someone run a test to find out (though I'm pretty sure that's what manufactures have huge R&D labs for).

Is iPhone 4G is coming in Mid 2010

I wonder about it, but today I was reading about iPhone next gen phone found few articles which suggesting that phone is coming in summer, I was reading interesting article about:

Apple iPhone 4G Coming in Mid 2010

Even read some more information on other blogs which also suggest release date must be in June after HTC launched their 4G phone. Just look at the new HTC EVO 4G that is coming out on Sprint.

Update: Just point so called iPhone killer phone information. :D :D I always luagh when people say iPhone killer but we knows no phone will match iPhone. ;)

HTC EVO 4G- Wolrd First 4G Android Phone

What's your thoughts guys?

i'll go 1 better

June 28th 2010at apples WWDC convention like the others phone before! world breaking news remember who told you! Oh the release yime has nothing to do with the Evo Apple has been sucesful doing what they are doing for 4 years! it's HTC, Google Nexus trying to Knock Apple down not the other way around!

Agreed...Apple doesn't do competitive counter-marketing. Only in the most general way do other mfgr's products and their market dates influence Apple's product releases. Otherwise, we'd likely see a new MacBook/Pro and/or Mac Pro out, huh?

I'm like 95% sure it will be announced June 28th, the first day of the WWDC, but I'm not sure when the release date will be. I'd say 1-2 weeks after the announcement, so sometime in early-mid July.

my thoughts exactly - although i wish that it would be released earlier - I am ready to upgrade again...

The anticipation is killing me!!!!

Okay, not really, I mean I wanna know, but I can wait a while longer. No biggie.

Hopefully Flash, a higher megapixel camera, and colors to choose from.

I figured you may want to add John Gruber's guess into the original post:
• A4-family CPU system-on-a-chip
• 960 × 640 double-resolution display
• Second front-facing camera
• Third-party multitasking in iPhone OS 4

I know the second two are already in there somewhere.

A realistic look at the next iPhone from my perspective:

PRIORITY
Pre-installed Flash
Removable battery
More physical buttons for options such as profile
5.0MB camera or better
Better battery life

REALLY NICE TO HAVE
Video conferencing and/or live streaming.
Maybe a new casing but it won't get much slimmer/thinner
Better push email

What I don't want to see is the iPhone getting stuff like HD. The screen is too small for HD to be of any real value and it would kill the battery. For me, the battery is very key...but the more features and functions added will hurt the battery life. It's a double edged sword.

all this including no more carrier lock ...
that'll make iphone the king ok kings:)

(Sorry for my English - I'm a 17 year old dane, so there WILL be mistakes ;) )
The iPhone needs to have an alu-housing and a quite big OS-redesign for me to stick to the platform. I held a HTC HD2 for the first time yesterday, and I must say that it changed my mind a bit about the iPhone being the only right smart phone out there. Those of you saying that a metal housing would compromise signal strength - If other manufactures can use metal housing and at the same time get plenty of signal strength, why shouldn't Apple be able to do so?

I think it seems as if Apple, read Steve Jobs, are in a lazy "We-are-the-kings-and-will-stay-like-that-so-don't-worry-about-significant-upgrades-and-innovation" mode. Right now I'm waiting on both the new MBP and iPhone HD, and if those two products aren't going to be the innovative products I expect them to be.. Well, then I'm afraid it ain't going to be me and Apple much longer.

*Sorry for the pessimism. The "Waiting for Arrandale"-threads have kind of destroyed my Apple patriotism :)

New phones are cool, but I have to start looking at this from a monthly cost standpoint. I'm looking at two lines, so from a cost standpoint and being that all these phones are starting to do the same thing give or take this or that I have to make that a priority. I don't care to spend $50 more just to look cool, I rather save it and still have a great plan and device. As of now the EVO is more appealing because I can have that and still pay about $80 less with Sprint!

It's interesting to see how different people's needs and wants are for the new iPhone.

Almost all of the stuff on this list is trivial to me, except the better battery life and better casing.

I want the next iPhone to look like this:

iPhone-G4.jpg

With the new A4 CPU, IPS panel with higher resolution, more internal memory, more storage, forward facing camera, multi tasking, orientation lock button, and general overhaul of the UI.

That picture is almost exactly what I want except I'd like to keep the iPhone's curves. I like how there's no sharp edges. After a time it gets annoying to hold. As someone else mentioned earlier, the aluminum may not be feasible because of the radio.

Please oh please Apple, make me an iPhone with THAT design. I'll by it in a second.
