The big iPhone 5 + OS 4.1 wishlist and rumor list

I mean the way in which notifications are presented to the user, either in apps, on the home screen, or on the lock screen. They needed something more discreet.
I have updated the first post with the wishes which are now in iPhone OS 4.0. (Software) wishlist dramaticly decreased in size.

I wouldn't bet against changes to notifications. Don't forget that this was a developer preview. Notification display would not necessarily impact third party apps.
I know. I just believe that there is still the possibility of changes before OS 4 is release to the public. It seems very un-Apple-like to add additional notifications without a better way to manage them. Especially since it is a clear usability problem with the notifications we already have.
I just found there actually is a character counter for SMS. It only appears when you almost reach the limit of one full sms. So that feature can also be added!
And search the web or WikiPedia via spotlight is also in OS 4.0. We shouldn't be too suprised if people find more features we wished.

Maybe Apple actually looked at this topic and listened to all our wishes, as almost all wishes are coming through...
Why would they not reveal a new notification system now? While possible, it is extremely unlikely at this point. Pretty much my only disappointment.
What I'm hoping for in iPhone HD, now that 4.0 has been announced:
1) Higher resolution, super AMOLED screen (the kind that isn't affected with glare because of sunlight)
2) Improved camera
3) New design
4) Improved speakerphone quality
5) Improved call quality
6) Improved battery life
7) Available in 32GB and 64 GB
8) Front-facing camera for video calls
9) Photo Booth-like camera option like on Macs.
10) Full, free turn-by-turn GPS like the Droid has
That's the phone...I'd also like to see the option the customize how SMS looks by changing the color of the bubbles and what not.

As Apple did last year, they didn't release all the features during the preview. Last year at the debut of the 3GS, they introduced Voice Commands, Video camera, compass and a few more things. My guess is that they will also show some new features with a new phone this summer. Should be interesting

Yup. They are going to save the best for last. Like last year, there will be more revealed with the new phone. Hopefully it's some things people want here. I just really want to customize my SMS tone

Besides the A4 chip for pure speed, nothing really. A front-facing camera and iChat really doesn't interest me at all. I can't think of anything that is really missing from the iPhone in terms of hardware. I'm waiting for iPhone 4 because I have to upgrade anyway so I might as well get the phone that is going to last the longest in terms of Apple firmware updates.

I want to be able to customize more of the OS. The chat bubbles in SMS, the SMS tone (what a crock it hasn't been done yet), ability to add a notification number to the lock screen/status bar, and some other items.
So the onliest things we still want are a few hardware changes (like (a variant of) the A4 chip found in Apple's iPad) and some software updates for even more costumization.
