The CANADIAN iPhone thread.....

Man oh man, there seems to be some pretty big problems regarding the new iPhone....reception, discoloration, scratching on the back....

Maybe you all are right...maybe it is better for us to wait.....Naaaa, who am I kidding I want my iPhone 4 NOW!! lol

They're all minor problems. The phone wouldn't be launched if they were major. :)

Not too bad if true. Though I've seen the date of July 9th for the release tossed around.

I am going to buy my iPhone 4 unlocked from Apple. I'm trying to sell my iPhone 3GS currently and that will help greatly. I'm not eligible for an upgrade at new customer pricing so any promotion Rogers does (unless it is amazing) won't be worth it when I can get an unlocked one for a couple hundred dollars more.

By the time the phone hits Canada I don't think the white launching will be an issue.

Hopefully around the 3rd week of July.

What do you all plan on using for protection? Are you all going to go with the bumper cases? Or would you rather just put the invisible shield on it?

Myself...I prefer to keep the phone naked...but when not in use have it in my belt clip case. But hearing that having a bumper on it helps with the reception issues, I may have to go that route. I just hate carrying the phone in my pants pocket though.

I'll probably continue to use sticker skins from istyles.com. I prefer to keep the phone feeling slim rather than keeping in a case on it all the time. I don't think reception will be an issue for me. If I hold my phone to my ear, I tend to hold it with my fingertips on the back and my thumb holding up the bottom edge; I don't cup it in my palm, so I shouldn't be blocking the antenna. Anyway, most of the time I use a headset and just slip the phone in my purse or a pocket. No biggie.

Hmmm, I never thought of it that way before....I too use a bluetooth head set, so I guess I'll be alright too.

I think I'll either keep my naked or use one of those skins that covers the edges and the back (those ones that kinda look like bumpers, but cover the back too).
 
What color would everyone pick if they're going to go with a black phone or the white?

I think if I went with the black phone I may select the white bumper...maybe even the orange, but I'll definitely need to see them in person before purchasing.

Does anyone know if and where they will be sold in Canada? Only at Apple stores? If that's the case, that'll suck as the closest Apple store to me is about an hour away!

I've looked through the different carrier websites and on their plan, there's nothing mentioned about the 3G usage. Does it mean going on the internet is free in Canada?

:eek: If it was free, boy did I get screwed on my data plan!

I'll probably get a white iP4 with a black bumper....set it up in iTunes as "Stormtrooper"
 
Definitely going white and waiting is going to be very tough. I played with the black one at the 5th Ave Apple Store here in NY and man oh man, I had to wipe the drool off the phone when I was done with it.

Edit: If anyone wants me to test something or grab pictures for them, let me know.

Actually we here in Canada pay for internet, like I'm sure everyone does in every nation. Myself, I'm on Rogers wireless and pay $30 a month for 6gigs of data.

There are cheaper plans like for instance 1gig of data and even less than that.

Where are you from exactly?

I have the black 3G, but I'm considering going with the white this time. I like the fact that both the front and back are white now. I didn't like the 2-tone look.

Still no word on when they're coming out in Canada. But you can buy them at Rogers, Fido or Bell. There may be other carriers by now, too; I'm not sure.

So you mean, once the iphone is released in Canada, the telephone companies will begin to sell the bumpers??
 
just got an e-mail from rogers saying that theres still no news and to not call their CSRs :(
they need to hurry up and give us some info
