marketmall calgary has enough stock! there is a line up though, a shorter line for an unlocked. around 30 min wait for an unlocked. Last I heard they only had 16Gb left though

Ok here I will try and help.

I made the switch from PC to Mac, and this is how I did it.

Make sure both computers are on the same network, and go to iTunes and select on the homesharing section on the right hand side. On they iMac, press import and select the things you would like to transfer (videos, music, etc)

It could take sometime depending on how much content you have. It took me 1 hour to import 200 songs.

Plug your iPhone into your mac, and go to File>Transfer purchases, if you have any bought items from iTunes. then you should have all of your media onto your iMacs iTunes. To recover your contacts, open up the contacts app on your Mac and File>import from your iPhone. Then you can sync your phone with your mac and it shouldnt be any different.

Any other questions, just post below :)

Thanks! I have a Lacie external already loaded up with everything, waiting to be transfered to my new iMac. lol I seriously have no idea how this PC has lasted me 9 years. FutureShop brand to top it all off! lol. *(I'm assuming I can just import my media from the external, and not have to connect the two computers....once the iMac is here, I'm going to have to ditch the PC.)

do you have to be 18 to purchase an unlocked iphone? im not 18 yet but my parents work during the day so it would be hard to find a time anytime soon when we could go grab my phone

any word on the stock levels at marketmall in calgary?

Yesterday, Market Mall was out of 32GB and only had ~100 16GB left. I dont know about today. Call them tonight before they close and if they still have them, go tom before opening at 9:30

How's the iPhone stock so far in the Ontario Apple Stores? Im still at vacation and hoping to get mine on Sunday? I hear that there is still a lineup to be needed as well, do they get regular shipments unlike rogers or telus stores?

unlocked is unlocked

I was just talking to a cell phone sales person at the mall. Those guys that work in a kiosk and sell all 5 companies phones. He was telling a customer that if they bought the IPhone 4 for full price from apple it still got locked to whatever carrier you hook it up with. I politely told him he was full of crap and walked away. When buying an unlocked phone from Apple it goes on a white list and stays unlocked no matter who you choose to have your service with or how often you might want to change.

BTW if you bought a unlocked iPhone and try to go back in to return the phone and get it on contract you will be asked to join any line they currently have for an iPhone since you require the same people to activate it. So pretty much either go at store opening or when you've called ahead and know they are sold out.

Also one employee was unsure whether or not by going through this process you keep the same phone.

For anyone looking for iPhones in the GTA Eaton Centre Apple store has stocks of the 16GB currently and will probably in the morning, no 32GBs right now.

My mother was finally able to get her hands on an iP4 today. She had to wait a few hours at the Apple Store at Fairview Mall in Toronto, but she was able to get one.

I'm looking forward to using FaceTime with her.:)

What time was your mom there? Did she just drop by or call ahead?

/sigh when are we going to get some decent cases up here.. I'm tired of seeing the same Case Mate and Griffin cases EVERYWHERE....
grrr

She went there at around 12:30-1pm.

She just went there because when she called, it said that there were 10 people ahead of her, so she didn't bother waiting on hold and wasting time on the phone.

She said that they were pretty unorganized, and that it took longer than it should have. She noticed that the employees were easily distracted when they were supposed to come out to get the next person in line. When it was time to activate her iP4, it took all of 5 minutes.

She got a 32GB because they sold out of the 16GBs. She said that they sent people away because they figured out where in the line they would run out of them, so there was no point for those people to keep waiting.

She told me that a few people tried to bud in line, and that security was called to take them away.

My guess is that unless they get a new shipment tonight or tomorrow, there are no more iP4's at Fairview for now.

Lol...

At least you have an iPhone 4...

I haven't posted here because I haven't gotten an iPhone 4 yet. I'm going to the Apple store(s) in Toronto on Friday to hopefully get one.

Seems like my chances of getting one are pretty good. If I show up an 1-2 hours before it opens do I have a good chance?

The Griffin Motif is pretty good. It's one of the free cases that Apple is offering in the case program. I bought it once I found out it was the cheapest case on the list, and got a Griffin Reveal Etch from the program instead.

Incase and iSkin haven't started shipping their cases yet, but Incase is supposed to start shipping their slider cases starting next week.

i got the schoche bandEDGE and its great because its like the bumper only that the metal band is able to shown thru the seehru middle part of the case. they included a cleaning cloth and a front and back piece and a card to get rid of the bubbles but i realized the card was useless because it scratched the back piece when i was trying to get rid of the bubbles. and the only other gripe is how the two materials meet and you can see some flaws on my case. but over all i love it because it still shows off the phone.

Definitely not worth buying in the States, when you can buy unlocked in Canada.

Where did you find it $300.00 cheaper?

seriously fairview has the worst apple staff ive ever seen, they are absolutely pathetic and dont know what they are doing, plus not very helpful. And it sucks since thats the closest apple store to my house.

I actually drove to square one to get my phone and the staff there was awesome and I was blown away by how fast they were processing people and how courteous they were. Fairview apple store needs new staff

i'm not buying in the states. someone is sellling it on the web..here in canada where i live...sealed,,got as gift ..willing to sell it for about 300bucks cheaper than what it costs to buy unlocked..

If you're going to use it on Rogers anyway, why not get a subsidized phone by signing a contract? Just go to the Apple store near you tomorrow before midday. It seems like the GTA stores are getting daily shipments about that time of day.

Waited 3 hours in line today at the Apple Store in Winnipeg. Everywhere else is sold out.

The first 40 or so people in line (was in like 20th place) got the phones after about 3.5 hours due to Rogers systems failing and the Apple store reps being teases by coming out, looking at us and going back in since they had nothing better to do.

I wanna test out facetime :(

I'm going to the apple store in oakridge tomorrow. Any suggestions on how early i should be there?
