so ****ing pissed off.

i went to square one and there was about 50 people in line. so i said screw it.

i went to sherway and there were 10 people in line. the guy in front said they didn't have phones but he was lining up anyways. 1/2 hour later, dude comes out saying they just got a shipment.

so i wait 2.5 hours to find out ROGERS ****ED UP MY ACCOUNT AGAIN.

i had a 9700 briefly (in january) and they said that caused the error. problem is, I NEVER did a hardware upgrade through Rogers. the 9700 was a friends.

they said it's showing as a hardware upgrade so it's messing it all up. so now, they're doing a support ticket to get it fixed. could take 72 hours.

i don't care about them fixing the issue, my problem is I just waited in line for over 2 hours and Rogers screwed up again. i asked Apple if they could hold that phone for me because of what just happened and they said no...

however, Rogers did say they were going to compensate me for it.

anyone know of the stock levels in Edmonton?? I hear that both apple stores seem to be replenished almost daily....

Going to line up tomorrow morning....

Rogers really is terrible and their customer service is just as bad. I had the same problem (somewhat), was authorized to take control of the account (not in my name) went to the store and the Rogers employee that was called failed to write the note so the Apple store could do nothing about it.. I ended up buying an unlocked 16GB for $744.. going to go to the store "return" it, get a refund, and then hopefully they can put it on a new Rogers account or something if I cant get the authorization figured out.

You should have bought it outright, then get refunded later

You can only sync your music to one computer. Apple does this to prevent music piracy.

Sorry, I caught this post while skimming the thread- I currently have a crappy PC, and have synced my iPhone 4 to it briefly to update to 4.0.1 (I've been charging with the wall adapter). I also have a new iMac on it's way to replace my PC. Does this mean I can't sync my iPhone 4 with my new iMac because I have already synced it with my PC??

I just hate when people spread false information that they dont know anything about or bother to research.

Here you go man, works wonderfully! Sync with multiple computers.

You can go to an Apple store without being the primary account holder.

I did a few upgrades for accounts where I'm level 1 auth user. When I went to the store, they pulled up rogers sales central, and the number I gave them showed primary account holder, and name of the first auth user on the account, neither of which were my name. They called rogers and the rep on the phone informed them I was authorized and they then put the upgrade through. actually didn't take long either..

OMG I'm totally trying this tomorrow! Likeliest... Yorkdale?

FWIW, I went to the Yorkdale Apple Store at around noon today and got in line. After two hours I left with my 16GB iPhone4...32GB iPhones were gone earlier in the day.

Upgraders (locked) will wait in longer than those buying outright (unlocked).

I was also able to make $50 as the guy in front of me wanted to buy multiple phones (I was only in line for one).

Good to know Yorkdale is replenishing stock often. Hope to just walk in on August 31/Sept 1 to pick one up when I get back.

hope that works out for you.

i couldn't. i asked the rep if they could just charge the $649 to my phone and have it credited later. they said no. sighhhh

now i gotta wait AGAIN

yes.. i did it like couple weeks ago going from PC to MAC myself.

what? once you get the new mac just sync it. it'll wipe it and you'll start with an empty phone.

that application is only necessary if you want to sync it to more than computer at a time.

if i'm wrong about this please educate me.

*assuming "traching" meant trashing in the quoted post

I really don't know how they could've said that. They have a 30 day return policy the most they could ask you to do is wait in line again for returning it but I doubt they would do that either. Has anyone actually done this and can confirm how they process a refund / locking and activating the phone?

That's weird.. When i tried upgrade on a couple accounts that weren't eligible for 159 or 399 pricing they said you can get it locked to Rogers for 649 or buy it outright for 659. In your situation I would do it as a Rogers one so it gets put on your Rogers bill as a 649 purchase, and then push with retentions to get the difference refunded. Or even at that point just buy it unlocked after waiting so long and return later to refund/repurchase it as an upgrade.

I've definitely seen multiple people now refund an unlocked unit and then repurchase it using an upgrade through Rogers.

the thing is guys... the iPhone 4 wasn't showing up AT ALL under hardware (on sales central)

why? because I had a stupid blackberry 9700 on my account, even though i never got that blackberry directly from Rogers.

their entire system is screwed up. i wonder how well they're going to compensate me.

i can wait, but it's the fact that i lined up for 3 hours and was told i couldn't HUP which pissed me off.

Anyone know the stock numbers in the Niagara Region (Ontario)? Ive called around a bit and everyone keeps telling me "no" or "not until next week".

This is kind of what I was thinking too. I'm so confused now. I thought I'd be able to sync my contacts that I manually put on my iPhone to my iMac. I haven't synced any music or anything over, but I did buy a few apps and a few songs. So if the initial sync on my new Mac wipes my phone, what about the items I purchased?? lol sorry guys, I don't mean to hijack this thread. Feel free to PM me if you have advice....

Any idea if they had to pay the 10% restocking fee when buying it back immediately?

~$70 for not having to spend another 4-5 hours in line seems fair, but just curious.

Ok here I will try and help.

I made the switch from PC to Mac, and this is how I did it.

Make sure both computers are on the same network, and go to iTunes and select on the homesharing section on the right hand side. On they iMac, press import and select the things you would like to transfer (videos, music, etc)

It could take sometime depending on how much content you have. It took me 1 hour to import 200 songs.

Plug your iPhone into your mac, and go to File>Transfer purchases, if you have any bought items from iTunes. then you should have all of your media onto your iMacs iTunes. To recover your contacts, open up the contacts app on your Mac and File>import from your iPhone. Then you can sync your phone with your mac and it shouldnt be any different.

Any other questions, just post below :)

definitely not. for the iPhone anyway there isn't a restocking fee from what I've been told by Apple reps.. I kind of assumed it was related to the whole iPhone 4 reception issue.

do you have to be 18 to purchase an unlocked iphone? im not 18 yet but my parents work during the day so it would be hard to find a time anytime soon when we could go grab my phone

any word on the stock levels at marketmall in calgary?
