I think that bouncing back and forth was just FedEx sending information to Mississauga. Mine says it's at the destination sort facility in Mississauga (probably that big FedEx place on the north side of the airport). Delivery is supposed to be tomorrow before 6PM.

Yeah, you're probably right. Although it's certainly not obvious when they list Location as Mississauga. Anyway, I'm in the same boat as you now. Let's hope everything goes smoothly with tomorrow's delivery.

Hey guys, take a look at some FedEx efficiency. China>Ontario>China>Memphis>Ontario>Memphis. Keep in mind, too, that I live 60 mins north of Mississauga.

everything to do with the parcel with the details saying "paperwork etc etc" is not the physical unit moving, its just fedex updating their internal database, the rest is your physical package and where its at!

Canadian Apple Online Store -- Which Firmware?

For those of you who bought IP4's on the Apple Canada Online Store and who are receiving them via fedex today or in the coming days, can you please post which firmware your phone has loaded? Is it 4.0.1 or 4.0.2?

Obviously, I'm hoping for 4.0.1, so I can JB mine.

Thanks!

Well got my protector in the mail today. Finally ill be able to apply it and use the iphone :D

Any of you guys use that protector that came from the factory maybe to cover the sides of the iphone with it? I just thought of it.

What do you guys think? I planned on cutting it up and trimming it down to cover the sides also.. so it doesnt have to be perfect.

It arrived! :D :D
And I've unpacked it, updated my SIM number to that of my new SIM on Fido's website, carefully cut the new micro-SIM out of its carrier, and put the new SIM in the iPhone 4. Then I plugged it in via USB. It turned on. iTunes helpfully informed me, "Congratulations! Your iPhone is unlocked! To set up and sync this iPhone, click continue."

Then I got a look at the screen. Oh man. It looks like printed paper. Even to my freakishly-nearsighted eyes, the pixels aren't visible.

Edit: I looked at my computer, then back to the iPhone. There was an error message: "UICC update fail. Accept/Cancel". When I looked back to the computer, iTunes had displayed an error. Replugging in the USB cable ended those. I am now syncing from my previous backup.

I did get a carrier settings updated, and the phone displayed the same "UICC update fail" error message until I hit okay on the computer to accept the update, then the phone error message went away.

Edit: if the error recurs, I'll call Applecare.

Edit: I just called the phone and it received the call, so I didn't enter the SIM numbers incorrectly... some googling seemed to indocate that the UICC error occurred wile things were being updated, so maybe it's not an issue.

Re: the Grip of Death.... if I touch the phone in the lower left corner, I lose a 1-bar signal. But I'm actually getting a one-bar signal in this room, which wasn't often before. Outside it'll be better.

The software version on the phone is 4.0.2.

I'm pretty pissed! I ordered online on July 30th. Phone was meant to ship out yesterday (20th). Now all of a sudden it says phone will ship in 3-5 business days and deliver between Aug 30 - Sept 7. That's bloody ridiculous!

Are iPhone 4's sold in Canada unlocked?

I live in Spokane, WA, and would consider driving up to Vancouver to get one.

They are sold unlocked at full price if you get then directly from Apple. If you get them from a carrier, they will be locked, even if you pay full price.

anyone in canada want to do facetime with me?? i'm in toronto so if you are too...no long distance! lol pm me and lets try this thing out.

Using iphone4 *brought in Canada* in HK/China, any issues?

Hi everyone, I plan to purchase an iphone4 at Apple store in Vancouver, I will be travelling to HK and China in October, I understand the iphone4 should already been unlocked (since I purchased it from the Apple store not thru my carrier), but I was told the SIM card size will be different in HK/China so I might have problems using my phone overseas. Does anyone have experience using an iphone4 (brought in Canada) in HK or China? Also any experience with Apple's world travel adapter kit, does it worth the money, or should I just buy any adapter in HK? Thanks.

How is the reception issues with people in canada? As bad as people in the u.s with AT&T? I live in a basement suite so i only get a few bars with my current 3gs.

Better than ever with IP4. 0 dropped calls since launch. Now if they could fix the proximity sensor

Wait so I can call someone in the Netherlands and not get charged LD? that's awesome if true

Yeah, I don't know how it works... because from what I know you have to dial the number and then click facetime. But I could be totally wrong.
It should be free as its over WiFi but I don't know how to get it started without calling the long distance number first...

It is true, and it is awesome.

Some people have said that you have to dial the number and then click FaceTime. That's not how it worked for me.

Of course, my mother's phone number was already in my contacts list. If you click on the little blue circle next to the contact, you can see the contact details, and if you scroll down, there is a "FaceTime" button. You press that, and your iP4 initiates a FaceTime call with the other person. They accept, and that's it. No phone call involved. I don't have a single long distance minute charge to my account.

I think that in order for FaceTime to work, the other person's number has to be saved as a contact first.

Now if only the rest of my family and friends in Toronto will get iP4s.......
