The CANADIAN iPhone thread.....

Ugh... My shipment got delayed due to a credit card problem. The original authorization went through, but since that authorization had expired, Apple had to take another one. I had to change my billing address last week, so the charge was declined.

Finally got it cleared up, but mine is still stuck in Prepared for Shipment. So much for hoping to get it on Friday like everyone else. :(

Big iPhone fan here. However, dont get your hopes up too high. The phone has been buggy since Ive got mine. Ive kept my mouth shut until yesterday when the battery drained from no use. I have brightness down and wifi off.
A few times I lost signal for as long as 30 minutes.
Its a great phone, when its working :p

This is what I got when I called on Monday...I was nice to them because normally i'm sure they would have to deal with difficult customers, so just make their job easier and they'll help you out.

250 Daytime Minutes
1000 Long Distance Minutes (Something I need)
iPhone Value Pack (2500 Text / Voice Mail / Caller ID)
Evenings and Weekends (starting at 8 but I'll try for earlier next time)
6 GB Data
No System Access Fees
____________________

$55 plus tax

I just kept asking if there was anyway they could discount the things I was getting...eventually I recieved a discount on the plan and the value pack.

The packages have never arrived any faster. Apple tends to ship Fedex Express on anything coming in from overseas or the USA to Canada even with 'regular shipping' and it doesn't get any faster than that. If it's coming from Apple Canada in Markham it will be 1 day to most places in ontario with ground or air anyways. I guess expedited shipping MIGHT help in that case if you aren't in Ontario, but I've never known a new item like an iPhone or a Mac to come from Apple Canada, usually it's warranty replacements or accessories.

Wouldn't mind some other people weighing in on this topic too....

I would totally agree with this, they always ship fedex for new products coming from China. I've paid for expedited in the past but it's always coming via Fedex and gets here no faster.
 
Only on computers where they ship UPS , the 13$ is worth it :p

Question: What is the return policy on unlocked iPhones from the apple store? 14 days as indicated on reciept, or does this include the 30 day no restocking fee window?
 
Anyone have any cool HIGH RES wall papers for the home screen they'd like to share....

its back a few pages, i took a screen shot....i have worked on it for about 2 weeks.

its finally respectable now :D

I've seen the Griffin anti-glare (matte) protectors fairly often along with the Invisible Shield sets. Other than that it's most the cheap ones floating around, good if you need something right away but they tend to have a nasty rainbow effect. It appears Griffin and Belkin no longer ship cases with protectors (I'd assume this is done to allow their products to be available from Apple) but Case Mate cases come with them. I have not tried the Case Mate screen protector but I can say the back protectors from Case Mate have a fair amount of rainbow effect.
 
I ended up ordering a power support screen protector online from the U.S.. Now I just have to wait to get it....

I wish the Apple store would start stocking them.

They will not start stocking them. The Great One believes that it detracts from the display (has a bit of a point there) and by offering them in the Apple stores it somehow indicates that there is something deficient with the screen.
 
What case are you all recommending from the free cases to order? I was gonna order one here shortly.

The Bumper. The metal power and volume buttons are really well done. Looks great.

BTW, my mother ordered hers last week and received it on Monday. She lives in TO.

Im torn between the Griffin Reveal Etch, PixelSkin HD and Apple Bumper.

Even tho i ordered a el-cheapo white bumper from eaby lol..

I got fed up with the micro bubbles... tore off the front and just have the back shield on along with the bumper i got today

i'm just going to wait for my monoprice ones, they've never let me down for my 3gs so it should be fine for 4.

I appreciate it is a matter of taste and it would be very boring if we all agreed, but for the life of my I cannot see the appeal of the Pixelskin HD. The back to my eyes is so bloody awful.

Just FYI, you're allowed to visit other threads in these forums. You don't have to post every iPhone related issue/thought in this thread. Canadians are allowed to visit the rest of the forums.;) I should know, I used to visit all sorts of threads when I lived in TO.:D

Placed an order for the PixelSkin HD.. I had a Speck case for my 3G and it sure saved the phone numerous times and the quality was superb. So i hope this ones like that
 
Well as some of you might remember, I ended up getting a replacement, but it turns out it was dust under the glass and not a dead pixel.

The first replacement had a black spot on the screen (cluster of dead pixels?), the second replacement has a speck of dust underneath it again.

I'm through getting it replaced, I'm just going to return it and wait for a brand new one eventually. Way to go Apple. There is no reason that there should be dust under the screen and that I should just 'accept' it.

The Genius at the Apple Store was very unhelpful as well and said he was "doing us a favor and making an exception" by exchanging it. Yea right.

Ok rant over, I just hope now whenever I get my new one, that it has no dust under the screen or any other problems.

They sell the pixelskin for iPhone 4 too you know :p

Not just their 'HD' version but the one that looks like a hand grenade
