I broke a personal record yesterday for download/upload speeds on my iPhone 4.

I hit a download speed of 6.15Mbps, and an upload of 3.59Mbps.

My mom and sister went shopping, and I just sat in the car in the parking lot with my iPhone 4 on the SpeedTest app and just kept pressing "Test Again" over and over. :D

I blew through over 300MB of data just doing this! :D:D:eek:

You're weird. :p

Thanks, that helped a lot. Now I'm stuck debating between whether I should get the i4 (when it's available, that is...I've had no luck with Futureshop, Best Buy, Rogers stores or retention) or wait for the updated iPhone.

Buy an iPhone 4 now, and then sell it when iPhone 5 comes out, basically subsidies the purchase of the next iPhone

Was at 8% last night when I went to bed. Plugged it in when i went to sleep woke up this morning and unplugged the phone and it was charged only up to 92-93%...

Any idea what the issue is there? Is that some sort of bug or what?

The first thing that comes to mind is whether you are charging via AC or with the USB port. If the latter, is there perhaps a change in the power that that USB port is capable of providing (I assume you have charged via this way before on the same USB port)?

Nope this was wall plug. I usually charge using the wall plug.

I unplugged it, then plugged it back in and it charged up to 100%.

Does anyone in Toronto have the iPhone4 with Telus? How is the reception and does your phone drop calls? Thanks in advance.

Like most established carriers that operate in Toronto, a dropped call is rare.

As for your question, a few folks at work have Telus and never had any issues with their iPhone 4 and dropped calls.

I've found this to be extremely common across a lot of iOS devices, namely my 3GS and iPad. With the iPhone a reset usually cleared the issue up but what you did above seems to be the only solution with the iPad. I would be interested in what exactly is causing this to happen. I've heard someone mention it may be some form of "overcharge" protection, I'll be honest and admit I don't know if that possible and if it is whether Apple's devices have it. However, where the charge stops is usually more than what an average drain overnight would be. For example, if I went to bed with a battery at 100% it would be around 97-99% in the morning, when the devices "stop" charging, the charge is usually in the lower 90s.

I have the 6GB plan through Rogers as of the iPhone 4 launch, which I got with my iPhone4 and I was wondering whether I could tether for free through Rogers? Please and thanks!

Yah just get MyWI

As far as I know, Rogers doesn't charge for tethering for data plans of 1GB and above.

I have the 6GB plan and I've never been charged for tethering.

Yesh, free tethering up here in Canada :D
(Unless you're on the 500MB plan for $25 - at which point you should definitely upgrade to the 6GB for $30, or getting the now-$40 iPhone Value Pack/Data plan)

Any news on stocks/shipments in Toronto area? :(

For anyone that has been lining up: Is it even worth it to line up? How many people line up usually and how many units would they possibly receive if shipment came in that day? It would be kinda pointless to line up if shipment is only 1 or 2 units and there's 15 people lined up.

MyWi is useful if you want to share your 6gb plan with other devices and not just one. But if it is just one device you have that you want to tether then just connect the cable and off you go =)
Because as noted above Rogers includes tethering free of charge if your data plan is 1gb and higher.

I'm on the same plan and I'm very happy! Have you had problems loging on Telus Website for seeing data usage?

I have the same plan too and I'm very happy too.

I have issues logging to the mobile website from the iphone (it's not working at all) but I can log on the regular web site from my computer.

One issue that I have is I'm getting pretty often the message : "Your SIM card sent a text message" with a green dismiss button...??Apparently it'S a bug with TELUS network that will be fixed "soon"

either something's wrong with Bell's network (i'm in london, if that helps) or something's wrong with my 3GS.

for hours now i've had full bars but the data is either going INCREDIBLY SLOW or not at all.

:confused::confused::confused:

There's like 30-40 people lined up at Fairview Apple Store at the moment, and the mall just opened. I don't think it's even worth it to line up.

I've heard people started lining up outside the mall at 3am.

Linedup @ fairview at 5 AM, but ended up in 15th position?? only the first 8 ppl (who have been there the n'th time and had their n'th iphone for resale in china) got it. The first guy in line claimed to have come at 10 pm last night (total bs), and the other few guys came at 3 am. They should really make it tied to ID. One per person, (NOT TWO). Two is just for resale and apple knows it.

That sounds about right. They sit there for 12 hours to make what..$100-200 profit? ($880 for 32gb after taxes and they're selling for about $1000 on Craigslist). Not to mention, there is no shipment on most days so they there for nothing on those days.

And obviously by doing this they're screwing over people who would actually use the phone. What worthless people.

Hey guys I have a few questions:

1. I went to the Apple store at Yorkdale yesterday and they were sold out at 10:30 AM (of course). The guy I talked to said people start lining up at 6-7 AM. My question is this: How are you supposed to line up at the Apple store so early when the mall opens at 10AM? Do people wait outside the mall or are the mall doors unlocked so you can wait by the Apple store???

2. I am probably going to be purchasing my phone with no data. I know with Fido you can get a $25 voice plan on a 3 yr contract with an iPhone as long as you pay a penalty for not getting the data. (To help them make up for the subsidy price). So I would be paying $199 for the phone +$150 no data fee (or maybe $200 if it is that high). My question is: Are you able to purchase an iPhone with a plan like this at the Apple store? Or do you have to get a standard iPhone plan and HAVE to get data? Or will Apple do the same thing as Fido? I don't want to line up and not be able to get the plan I want.

3. Would you think it would be better to line up at Fairview or Yorkdale?

Thanks for your help

1. The doors to the mall are actually unlocked pretty early. I think about 5 or so? I heard some people got there at 5! Nuts!

2. Not sure. But that's pretty bad that there's a "no data fee". Lame.

3. I think they both have the same chances.
