There's like 30-40 people lined up at Fairview Apple Store at the moment, and the mall just opened. I don't think it's even worth it to line up.

I've heard people started lining up outside the mall at 3am.

That sounds about right. They sit there for 12 hours to make what..$100-200 profit? ($880 for 32gb after taxes and they're selling for about $1000 on Craigslist). Not to mention, there is no shipment on most days so they there for nothing on those days.

And obviously by doing this they're screwing over people who would actually use the phone. What worthless people.

yes yes those people who have no lives. -.- Thanks for the information, I think I'll just wait a couple more weeks (possibly a month) for better stock? at this rate though it seems like stocks never going to come.

Finally picked up an iPhone 4! Went to Yorkdale today at 5am and I was 6th in line. Just to give an idea: there was about 15 people at 5:30am and about 30 people at 6:00am. In total there was about 60-65 people and I believe almost everyone (maybe 60 people?) was able to get one. They "had stocks" for the past 3 days now.

Spending about 4 hours in line definitely beats countless hours I spent looking through forums for information and calling up Rogers, Wireless Wave etc. every single day. So if you really want an iP4 - the best way is to go to either Yorkdale or Eatons, since I believe they receive the most units in the Toronto area, and line up at 5 in the morning. It's so much better than checking up wireless stores or calling them everyday in hopes that they have some stock.

Oh yeah and looking at the people, I would say about 25% of the people were there to buy to resell. You can just tell when you see some 40 year old chinese guy, wearing cheap clothing and shoes, pick up 2 unlocked iPhones. And I saw at least 5 people playing with an iPhone 4 right in front of everyone - that's just scalping and spitting in your face at the same time. There was even this guy who was posting on some russian forum about selling iP4s right next to me. Ridiculous.

how does his age, race and quality of clothes have to do with his income? lol some people dont bother wearing there best clothes at 6 o clock in line for a phone.:)

For those who live in QC, it was very interesting to hear Videotron announcing their new network and the talks they are having with Apple to get the iPhone when they release one compatible later this tear. They are not known to give false informations so I guess the Verizon rumors will be true this year.

Can anybody beat my speed on 5 BARS of the Rogers "network"?

pwned - with a 3G.

How the hell did you guys get the great plans!!!!! I call rogers and they won't pass me over to the manager and tell me they don't discount on their prices and will not match or beat a telus plan!!. I get this lady named Candace who's crazy, angry and grumpy and just a complete freak show hahah I wished I record the convo and post it up here, it was pretty funny. I'll try again tomorrow *signs*

with the launch of videotron's mobile service in quebec on wednesday, plans have decreased in price across the board with many service providers.

i upgraded my plan and phone with rogers 1 month and ended up getting on the 50$ unlimited local calling voice plan. i just found out that that very voice plan is now only 35$/month! i called customer relations to see if there was anything they could do to switch me on to that, and sure enough they were able to. i was worried i wouldn't get that plan since i already negotiated my contract over a month ago but that wasn't the case.

just to let you know, that the new 50$ plan at retentions is unlimited local calling + unlimited long distance + unlimited SMS canada/us.

all in all, after tax, i pay about 65$, get unlimited local calling, 6 gb, call id, voicemail. i'm pretty happy.

Whats retentions? the manager?...

I don't know how you guys are getting these plans!! I talked to rogers and they can't even match a telus $65 plan! how are you guys getting all that for $65?. unlimited Calling and texting, caller ID, voice mailing plus 6GB of data for $65 with all the taxes!! I want that deal!

Call and ask to speak to customer relations and tell them politely that you're unhappy with what's being offered

Hi quick Q
if my friend who is an university student in Canada buy me an unlocked iphone 4 can he use any kind of educational discount?

Hey all,

I'm in Canada until the end of July next year and was wanting to buy an iPhone 4 from Apple due to requiring it unlocked.

Can anyone provide links to either pay as you go, or a month by month based contract that will get me some data usage?

I live chatted with a Bell representative and been shown the door as I can't sign a three year contract.

Any help appreciated. :)

Apple store will sell you the phone unlocked and without a contract. Once you have this you can sign up with a carrier of your choice for a 1 year term.

For all you Rogers users out there.
I was not happy with the $35 added fee.
I couldnt get it re-imbursed but the did give me some freebies.
100 min for a month and Unlimited incoming till Dec.
I barely use the phone on this thing.
Guess I should call my parents now :p
LOL!

Which carrier is letting you go for a 1 year term. My browsing around the big 4 all want 2-3 years. :(

If you are buying your own hardware, why would you want to sign up for any term really?
You are paying the full amount of the phone. No need to sign a contract, not even a 6 month contract. You should be able to leave whenever you want!

While that may be true for a person who is only staying in the country for a short period of time, if you're going to stay for at least 3 years and will be using a cell phone you may as well sign a contract. You get a subsidy for whatever hardware you buy. That is like free money because if you choose not to get a phone, the plan isn't any cheaper.

I understand that.... my response was to the person asking about a 1 year contract after purchasing his/her own hardware.
