I understand that.... my response was to the person asking about a 1 year contract after purchasing his/her own hardware.

I don't want to have a contract, but despite buying my own hardware no carriers seem to want to give me a pay and go option including data. Back home in the UK O2 have a simplicity plan where you just get a sim and features similar to that of a new phone taken out on contract with them. It's only 15 pound a month and is only 30 days long.
I'm not seeing an equivalent here. If anyone can then I'd be very grateful.

If I go to my local telus dealer and get on a three year contract I can get an iPhone for 270$, I am just wondering if I buy this can I still jailbreak the phone, and unnlock it so I could use it with another provider once my contract is up?

I can't afford to buy the phone outright at the moment so I am wondering about doing it this way. Has anyone gotten an iPhone 4 through telus on a contract? if so, could you give me some input on how it went and anything that might be different them buying one from an apple store.

Thanks

Me too!! Well arriving the 16th

How do you know the arriving date ?

I received the email as well, but only shipping date and a tracking number.

Tried to verify the tracking number on the UPS site but it tell me that number is invalid... :(

Sound ID has one which comes with an iPhone App. It's totally amazing cause you can adjust the settings of the headset from within the App.

The sound can be turned up a lot.

It's called the SID510.

I've heard nothing but good things about it.

Sorry, it is a bit expensive though. $130....

That definitely seems expensive. I am not much worried about music, but main concern is voice quality. To be used for situations like, while driving etc.
Any better cheaper alternative?

This is the best one when it comes to noise cancellation. It has 3 mics which help reverse all the disturbance etc.

Sound ID has a couple of cheaper ones too. Around $80 which are very good too, but they don't have the iPhone App etc.

how does his age, race and quality of clothes have to do with his income? lol some people dont bother wearing there best clothes at 6 o clock in line for a phone.:)

unfortunately, when one is Chinese (as I am, and know that there are members of my culture that do this)... you start to notice that some have no concern for appearance and hygiene... I can bet you that if he looks like that at 6am, he's going to look exactly the same at 12pm, 5pm, 10pm.

Yesh, free tethering up here in Canada :D
(Unless you're on the 500MB plan for $25 - at which point you should definitely upgrade to the 6GB for $30, or getting the now-$40 iPhone Value Pack/Data plan)

Better yet, get the $30 for 6GB, THEN ask for a $10 discount, to make it $20 for 6GB! hehehehe I'm burning through mine now =) $50.48 after HST (booooo! HST) for voice + data :D:D:D

How the hell did you guys get the great plans!!!!! I call rogers and they won't pass me over to the manager and tell me they don't discount on their prices and will not match or beat a telus plan!!. I get this lady named Candace who's crazy, angry and grumpy and just a complete freak show hahah I wished I record the convo and post it up here, it was pretty funny. I'll try again tomorrow *signs*

Don't pass over to a manager unless there is something actually wrong...it just pisses the CSR off and they write nasty notes on your account, telling the next CSR that you are (adjectives I will not use). Also, are you sure you got retentions? you have to select on the automated menu that you want to CANCEL your service, and that flies you over to retentions, they don't say that it is (its actually called customer relations, but don't be knowledgeable verbally, or they'll know you've been getting help on getting your own money back xD)

Try doing it this way, tell them that your wallet can't handle the strain... seriously, talk with them like you're there to talk with them, and tell them how wonderful their service is, and how you're shopping around, and would love to stay with them, but you're most likely going somewhere where the grass is greener, etc. Figure out what you want first, like do you want more minutes? more LD? free VM/CID/2500txts? If you don't know what you want, or have a target, they can't justify giving you random discounts.

Here's a reference as to what retentions has to offer: http://forums.redflagdeals.com/merged-hot-deal-rogers-wireless-customers-111887/2110/#post11042816

Your good plans don't come in one afternoon. Call when you have the time, discuss your plan, see if you can get them to offer you something like the 17.50 voice plan, or a discount off data (in chunks of $5, they can only give up to $10 for data discounts).

Something to give you a bit of encouragement:

the $10 value pack is discounted completely.
the 7 for early evening is written there, but its taken off in the monthly discount, its just how they do their discounts...

Got my Iphone4 today at Rogers plus in Brampton :D

I decided to drop by a Rogers plus going to the bank. lo and behold, they got one :) someone was returning it due to incompatibility with his sim or something or I took it off his hand. There is nothing wrong with the phone as far as I can tell.

This is only the 2nd store I drop by, it's weird to think people and lining up for hours hoping to get one.

Yes. At this point is is kinda silly. Just order it online already. I did not wait two seconds in any line. I had a buddy at Future Shop call me when two (count 'em, two!) Rogers ip4's came in one day last month. He bumped me up a few slots on the list.:)

probably not, but I didn't get it as cheap as I wanted to. Just depends on how much you want the phone. I personally have a life and cannot spend eight hours a day in a line on the off chance that a store may have one or two iphones come in.

With Rogers and Fido you have to go in store to get the hardware upgrade price. Or if you are luck you can get it over the phone through retentions.

For Bell and Telus, you should be able to order the phone online and get the hardware upgrade price.

Remember when you chose the cancel option you don't go to customer relations, you are just forwarded to regular csr. You have to tell them that you want to cancel and then you get transferred to customer relations

Also some people have ordered the phone online, paid full price and once they got it they went back to apple store to return it telling them that you want to do hup, and in most cases they do it for you
