An immediate family member of mine works at rogers headquaters in toronto. No one but the people working on the project know any information. The employees have to sign a contract stating that they would keep all information confidential or their jobs would be comprised.

The person I know who works for rogers, knows people working on this "special" project but they are unable to speak a word. So trust me even if you did have a rogers member on here, chances are if they say anything, there goes their job.

I do agree though, the lack of information provided is alluding to an even later release date. Personally I wouldn't be suprised if it was August.

Yep and being able to spill a few details to people is not worth losing a job over.

That's a good question Sdao. Guys correct me if I'm wrong but, wouldn't Apple have to send you out of the store without a micro sim considering they have no network to put it on? I think you would pay for the phone at retail price then have to go to Rogers or whatever company you use to get the micro sim.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Since I am due for an upgrade and debating whether or not I should buy the iPhone 4 unlocked straight from Apple at full price (most likely $749 + tax) or as a HUP (most likely $299 from Rogers) what's the point in fussing with Apple? (Aside from the unlocked part obviously?).

I mean, if I have to pre-order w/Apple, yet I can't walk out of the Apple store with a iPhone 4 working on the Rogers network (assuming they can't activate a micro sim for me) is it really worth all the fuss? I might as well go directly to Rogers and get everything done at once?

If going to Apple first means I'll have to make a trip to the Rogers store for them to swap me on to a micro sim, I'm wondering what the wait for a micro sim swap is going to be like on launch day!

Have no fear Apple Retail Stores can do all this

I'm finally admitting to myself that we won't be getting the iP4 this month. sigh I just don't see how they can launch it in July if they haven't announced it by now. Oh well. Maybe this delay means we'll have a better chance of having the option to pre-order the white model. And maybe they'll even work out the antenna issue before shipping Canada's phones. A girl can dream.

2 week notice is just enough to make a Friday July 30th release date. The latest possible I see is this Friday the 16th. But who knows.... I'm sure there is enough resources in place to have a 1 week announce -> release time frame.... Oh yes I can dream too :)

draz, I love how you're keeping the iChristmas in July dream alive!

I'm not giving up on July just yet either!

less than two weeks notice will be enough.

iPhone 3GS was unveiled on June 8th, and went on sale June 19th. If we don't hear anything by Friday July 23rd, then we can probably write July off.

Apple usually makes announcements on Tuesday and Thursday. I'd expect something tomorrow or Thursday. It might be done blindly and the phones might become available for pre order.

Sounds good if true.

I've been reading that an announcement will be made on Friday the 16th. Meh, who knows. So many dates around.

But yes Tuesday and Thursday are Apple's favorite days for announcements. So let's hear it for those days this week!

It has to be today right? When we least expect it?

Hey Pandora! I'm thinking it will be July without a doubt. I remember when Rogers was going to launch the Android phones a year and a bit ago and they had the same sort of email notification service they've set up for the iPhone 4. Anyhow, that was announced about 2 weeks before the release date too. Like many people have mentioned I bet they will announce it sometime this week for sure. With all the emails I've been sending the big man (not Santa Clause...Mr. Jobs) he's probably sick of them and just wants to release the damn thing!

With all the reception issues the iPhone4 has had, who knows, maybe Apple might want to fix the issue before they release the phone to other markets.

Also the demand is high for the phone in the US. Just like the iPad, they might delay launching it here because of inventory shortage purposes.

I thought it was already made clear by Steve Jobs himself that iPhone 4 will not be delayed for Canada? Steve does not lie :p

I bet us Canadians for the most part won't have any reception problems. We have such strong reception in most of our cities that it will be a none issue.

I agree with you. I am not at all worried about the issue. I'm on Bell's rock solid HSPA network anyways.

Just what I wanted to hear. That's perfect.

Wouldn't it be nice if we had a few Rogers insiders as members on MR? They could keep us in the loop... for such a hyped up product, the lack of information regarding the Canadian release is worrisome.

i used to work for Rogers... their employees know nothing. no one at the call centre, or at the store, will know anything about the iP4.

you would need someone that works higher up in the latter, unfortunately lol.

also, i'm glad that the US was our guinea pigs ;) i'm sure we won't have any issues.

I don't give much hope for a July launch anymore with all the problems that Apple is having. :( I am sure that we will here some news by end of the week. But I think that it will be a delay for sure. That said I would still buy a iPhone 4 today if I could.

I'm pretty surprised there's been no announcement yet. It's looking like if it is end of July, there will be no pre-order period, or the pre-order period will start IMMEDIATELY after it's announced (which would mean it'd need to be announced very soon).

*Sits in a corner rocking back and forth saying "The iPhone 4 is coming, the iPhone is coming*

Since we heard nothing today, we still have three more days this week. Lots of 'rumors' point to a Friday announcement, so we shall see.

I want an iPhone, I've been without mine for 12 days now and it's horrible!

I feel for you, I sold my 3G a couple weeks before the 3GS came out, so I know the pain you're in! lol

Hold strong my friend, it's coming soon!

With comments like these, I don't think it would be in Rogers' best interests to launch the phone until Apple has said something definitive on the signal issues. If the linked article has any merit, could you imagine rolling out a product as highly anticipated as the i4 across Canada (and the rest of the world) only to have to recall it days/weeks later? Once we hear from Apple on what's going on, I'd imagine the carriers will follow suit with their announcements. I don't think Jobs lied when he said the Canadian launch wouldn't be delayed, I just don't think he saw this snowballing into the massive clusterf*ck it appears to be.

FWIW, I sold my 3G days before the i4 announcement and I'm stuck on an 8100 Pearl (edge only, no data) - I want to upgrade just as badly as the next guy, but I'm going to have to see how this pans out before jumping out on launch day.

so with this long wait for canada, i quickly went through the key note and it seems other countries (mostly european) are in the same wait also.

is the 2 week notice for pre-order a for sure thing? cause that means friday if anything.
