Here's my 2 cents:

-apple addresses antenna, says it's a non-issue, and that a software fix is coming soon.
-announces that they've sold 5 trillion iphones, and now are forced to delay the international releases (canada, etc) till september or so.

im dying to get my hands on the new iphone as much as the next guy, but it's really looking slim now (for july).

Probably the first Apple press conference I'm not looking forward to. I have a strong feeling we should be getting ready to hear the word "delay" all over again.

I still have hope of 3 things happening on Friday:

- iOS4.1 software update to address the long list of probs

- Production changes to fix antenna probs

- Next round of release dates for 18 countries including Canada July 30th

So Thursday...... Is the day where we cross all fingers and toes for 24hrs until Friday when we hope to have good news :)

Dude. You collect Canadian Tire money? The only place I have for that stuff is the garbage can.

Some bars accept it here like cash :D

That said, mine normally still ends up in the donation box at the checkout unless I'm getting $2+ at a time.

While I'm still doubtful, the only thing that makes me think there's a chance we might get some good news for Canada is the guy over on iPhone in Canada Blog posting insistently in the comments (as far back as last week) that there would be an announcement on the 16th.

For me, its the iphone in canada post that rogers/fido began training their staff on the iphone 4... if it was still gonna be delayed till september, why would they start training now? just food for thought.. i really hope it's not delayed!

Well I think the carriers in the 18 countries found out today when the phone is coming to them. If it is delayed, or on track for July 28th-30th.
That guy posting on iphoneincanada does have my hopes up as this just proves that they did know of something was going to take place on Friday, but their dates was still up in the air... Until today.

That is just me speculating and hoping for the best (July 30th release date)

Sounds pretty legitimate. I also think there is a 100% chance that our iP4's will be problem free (or at least not have the same problem's that were seen in the first batch).

It could be solved as apple probably knew about this issue before iPhone 4's announcement. Don't you guys wonder why apple sell iPhone 4 bumper as an official accessory while previous iPhones didn't have such a thing?

I also wonder how the unlocked iPhones will be when customers purchase them from their carrier on full price with no commitment? I called apple and learned that any phone bought from a specific carrier, the phone then will be locked to that carrier permanently unless policies changed. I know you would say get it from apple outright, but what if someone has some dollar credits (like fido offers fido dollars) isn't better to get it from the carrier?

Wait to hear from you.

i'm getting my 32gb with my $150 fido dollars.

also regarding the press conference on friday, i think apple will issue a recall for certain serial numbers and have people set up meetings ahead of time with the genius bar. less line ups, better tracking, etc.

i just hope they announce our release for this month and ours are trouble free.

it's been like that all the time with any phone. the carriers want you to use the phone on THEIR network, so they won't waste their time by selling you an unlocked device.

Yep, if you want to lose your fido dollars, then unfortunately you have to buy a Fido-locked device.

If you get it from a carrier it will be locked. Doesnt matter what the price. If you want to use Fido dollars then you have to buy a Fido locked device. Pay your full price minus Fido Dollars but it will still be locked.

Apple will not sell the iPhone 4 unlocked for any cheaper price than their full listed price.

Huge iP4 Sale!!

Hope that there isn't a recall!!!!

Then ... If you wait a while, I bet there will be a huge sale on refurbished iP4's after 2 Million people take their 1st Gen iP4 in to be replaced with the 2nd Gen iP4.

LOL!!! :D:D

Well ..... Canada can always hope for an August iP4 release.

I don't see a recall. They'll probably just give a free bumper to everyone.

I don't see a recall either, but I don't see a free bumper being able to fix Apple's image. They're going to have to initiate some sort of service plan or trade-in agreement with an additional reimbursement (i.e gift cards/store credits/maybe a bumper) to those who bought their iP4's before said date. IMHO.

5 hrs!

you guys think they'll announce the canadian release today? lol

Apple won't specifically announce a Canadian release but will likely update the masses of the 18 country launch which we're apart of....All we can do is hope for the best!

On another note, at least ios 4.0.1 has been released so maybe we'll get the new JB/Unlock from the Dev Team soon!!
