AH! So is that why W3W bulbs are a smaller size than W5W?
I think those are the DRLs as headlight bulbs in a Prius would be H4 (or a simular Hi/Lo combo bulb)

W3W and W5W are the same size. Only difference is the filament.

Prius uses an H11 and H9 bulb. The high and low beams are separate.

Hmm. Well then can anyone tell me the difference between the T10 style bulb in the reverse lights of an 2000-2005 Impala verses the LED-Sized T10s in License Plate lights?

The Impala uses a 921 bulb which outputs 265 lumens.

The LED retrofits you find on ebay are often labeled for different types. Like a replacement for a W5W bulb may also have 921 in the name, when it's not an equivalent to a 921.

You can look on this page for LED retrofits that are similar in brightness (preferable brighter) than 265 lumens of the incandescent.

http://www.superbrightleds.com/search/led-products/921/

Then look for a very similar one on ebay or amazon for much less.
No guarantees though. You might get a very dim piece of garbage. If you want to be sure you're getting what you want, you have to pay lots of money.

Keep in mind these are illegal.

EDIT: If I am up to it, I may do some wiring modifications to make the reverse lights on both cars act as turn signals as well via Switchback LEDs

You cannot have a flashing white light as a turn signal. It has to be amber or red.

BTW, how are those existing LED retrofits you put in doing? Are they brighter or dimmer than the old ones? Did you compare them?

Ah so T5 (921) is a bigger size bulb than a T10? Interesting. The sockets are the same so I dont think it matters much.
As far as Legality goes... Minnesota has no safety or emissions testing and since the likelihood of me ever being pulled over is slim to none, I don't really care.

It would flash amber.......

Are you meaning brighter or dimmer compared to the Incondescents?

Yeah the T10 shape is the miniature wedge and the T5 shape is the regular one.

It would flash amber.......

Oh so you mean you may put switchback LED retrofits in the reverse lamps, so they flash amber with the turn signals and white with the reverse lights.

Are you meaning brighter or dimmer compared to the Incondescents?

Yes the original incandescents.

1. AH! that explains alot! Would T5s fit the housing of T10s?
2. Yes
3. Depends on the light conditions outside. They put off about 1/2 the light of standard 1156 bulbs Work perfect for the Reverse Lights rather dim behind a red lens. Hopefully better LEDs with 360 degree lighting will be better.

Not always. But definitely vise-versa.

You should use red LEDs behind a red lens. White light will look dim because most of the light made by the lamp would be in other colors that are filtered out anyway. With red leds, although it may output the same amount of light, 100% of it would be red so it all goes through the lens.

Since this is the thread for car mods...... One of the things on my list to repair it the cigarette lighter in the Impala that never worked. Simple fix 1 question. Can any of you tell me if the front cigarette lighter socket on a Impala (With center console shifter) is Ignition controlled?

OK i talked to the seller of the Ceramic-base T10 LEDs. They said these 20 pack of LEDs are 20LM each. Is the bright enough for LP and interior lights? What is the Lumens of a T10 mini wedge incondescent bulb?

Does new rubber count as a mod?

can any of you tell me if i were to tap into the Dome light circuit of my car if adding floor lighting will work just like the dome light. (On with door open, off with door close)

I went through a set of Pilot Sport A/Ss on my LS a few years ago. No question-they were the best tires I've ever owned!

When they wore out, I had a hard time tracking down another set in the correct size. I ended up going with a Bridgestone Taranza, which is more of a Grand Touring type tire than an all out sport tire. I have to admit that they are quieter and ride nicer, but I miss how great the Michelins handled.

Are you looking to tap into the actual light, or the door pins? I would tap into the actual light itself and use a relay to isolate your new lights from the dome light. If the dome light is controlled directly by a BCM then your new lights could draw too much power and fry the dome light output of the BCM. By using the dome light to trip a relay you are only adding about 200mA to the circuit, not enough to damage the BCM. It's pretty easy.

Either the dome light circuit or the "Door Open" light in the guage cluster, both only light up when the door is open.

BTW I tested it last night, The LED Dome and Trunk lights work PERFECT they light the car and the trunk just as good as the Incondescent bulbs did. A bit Bluer than I expected though.

What kind of BMW is that?

Those are fantastic tires!

Car is a E92 335i (N55) 6spd with a JB4 + DP and Koni shocks. I'm loving the A/S 3's for DD activities so far and I expect they'll be good for the Oregon fall/ winter that's ahead.

They're no PSS, but they'll do until I spring for a set of new wheels and go wider (245 F/ 275 R).

Fun. Pics please :)

That new wheel/tire setup will be pretty hot - nothing changes the whole vibe of a car more than wheels/tires, especially if combined with a [correct amount] of lowering.
