As we all know the screen for iPhone X is from Samsung. And the Samsung "AMOLED burn-in" problem is very famous and everyone in the android side knows it. Just google "AMOLED burn-in" if you don't know about it. Basically after around a year, there will be some permanent burn-in marks on the screen and there is no way to solve it.

I have no idea why people feel excited about this coming new screen, I personally would not get one.

It will only make sense if you will buy a new phone after a year anyway. I don't buy new phone every single year especially for a phone that is $1000 (it is $13xx-$14xx in a lot of countries) without counting the apple care, fast charge cable, wireless dock, case, screen protector............

In the middle of several books.
Wow. I was planning on getting one because it's smaller. I have a 7+ and love everything about it but the size. I'm gonna wait on it now......
Because of one post, you have changed course? How about doing your own research on the matter, and then make an informed decision? No need to make rush decisions much less assume that because Samsung is the maker, that the iPhone will automatically have burn-in problems. It may or may not.

spending $1000-$14xx (depend on which country), then right after a year of warranty, "may or may not" having permanent burn-in problem on screen and basically it can only get worse over time? Don't sound like a good deal to me.

At least the iphone 6/6s/7/8 doesn't have this problem to worry about.

Then don't get the phone. If you want to make assumptions for yourself, you can do that. I see nothing practical about trying to win people to your side, especially when all you are doing is guessing.

It is not an assumption, it is a fact. Just google
AMOLED burn-in
it must happen after you keep using the phone, the question is just when it starts to happen.

No not at all. I'll wait and see if it happens.

Stop posting this nonsense.

This was a problem with early amoled screens, nowadays it's not a problem anymore since A) the screens are better protected against burn-in and B) they have a software fix (which is also seen in IOS11 software) of moving the pixels by a pixel (which isn't noticable) when the screen is too long on a static image which prevents burn in problems.

So FAKE NEWS, google better the next time you call nonsense like this a fact...

I have no burn in with my s7 edge. Just don't max out the brightness all the time, or leave it on the same thing for long periods and you are fine. My s7 is over a year old too. However a friends s7 does have burn in. But he has his brightness set to max all the time.

Burn in is still an issue on AMOLED today. It all depends how you use it.

I’ve had burn in on several phones over the years usually after over a years use. That’s one of the reasons I buy insurance. Go into Verizon (the good old days) or make a phone call, and here’s a replacement.

Prepare to learn all about flicker and pentile with the new display.

I hope there is some sort of fundamental improvement over what you see on Samsung phones or the Pixel. I can't stand the display on the Note 8, it looks grainy/powdery to me.

Not a problem anymore? LOL just google "s8 burn in"
crazy many results come out like this:

I wonder if that's why Apple waited a while for the AMOLED. Waited for improvements on the technology

LOL this is funny. Apple just needs to show something new and Apple doesn't want to make one, it is that simple. And you know what? Just like the extremely easy to break back glasses of 8/8+/X, the burn out factor would let Apple makes more money. Glasses broken/burn out mark after 1 year without apple care? Get some money (like $200-$400)out of your wallet and Apple fixes it for you no worry!

Grainy/powdery? Then the iPhone screens must be a strait up blur! I am VERY unbiased as I use both but there is no way that the iPhone screens are more clear.

I’ve heard of Apple Watch having burn-in problems with its AMOLED display, so you can bet iPhone X will have some issues too. It’s not a huge deal. Just don’t leave your phone on one, bright screen or pattern for prolonged periods of time.

People don't half worry about things too much. Screen burn on plasmas was only a problem on early or cheap sets. I had one for 10 years and 20k hours with no trouble.

Of course glass backs will break more easily if you drop them. Accidents happen but just be careful. People would be moaning if they stuck to aluminium backs and no wireless charging.

Nothing will be 100% but I can't see there being mass burn in problems on the X. Sit it out for a year, make sure there's no problems and then be mad at yourself you didn't get one.

If you keep telling yourself to make sure that every single day...yeah
I don't know why someone would buy a $1000 phone then need to reminding something every single day....
