When was the last time you saw an LCD with image retention? I’ve never had this on any of my phones or displays.

I've had it myself on my LCD tv, so I know for a fact that it can happen, and isn't always so easy to get to go away.

Also, I'm sure there are plenty of people with OLED display who've never notice burn in on them.

Apple must have really pissed you off huh. Couldn't get another after abuse of the phone? Let me give an example. Buy a truck run it threw scrub brush total it and want another for free! Lol

I just tell you a real situation, and look at some fact:
Apple's shed $50 billion — more than eBay, Target or Ford — since it unveiled the new iPhone
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/apple-apos-shed-50-billion-222505379.html
and the same period of time, s&p500 and other main index keep making new high

That sucks for you. Plasma is far and away superior to LCD. I have loved my plasma and it's sad they don't make them any more. You really missed out on something special.

The good thing is OLED looks like it’s a better version of plasma (i know they aren’t the same technology). It also seems to be getting more consumer adoption, or at least they are selling well enough that LG is continuing to make new ones every year.

It can cause burn-in situation, but how often is that going to happen? Look at samsung's phones, shouldn't their phones be reported with burn-in problems as well?

Just enjoy it and make sure to apple care plus if you're worried about burn-in problem.

Crazy many people report their samsung phones have burn-in issues. Your logic is correct.

Apple is also the largest company in the world in terms of marketshare, so any fluctuations are generally large in terms of dollar amounts. Apple almost always drops on/after iPhone announcements. Come back when they report earnings in January.

I've been happy with mine. No problems what so ever. I don't have ghosting on mine either

So you are storyteller without any prove? Where is your "pple almost always drops on/after iPhone announcements." idea comes from? LOL XD

It either dropped the day of, and recovered later, or dropped the next few days. Past 4 iPhone announcements.

Also, for all of you guys wondering why Apple isn't trying to cover the notch by turning off the surrounding pixels, burn-in is the reason.

Burn-in isn't as simple as leaving a static image on the screen, it's an issue of pixel degradation that occurs during use. If Apple turned off the pixels to make a black bar, then those pixels wouldn't degrade as rapidly as the pixels being used, this results in a brightness disparity in the display when those pixels are actually turned on for something.

This is why Samsung eliminated the option to set the navigation bar color to black.

None of your graphic showing it "keep dropping" at all like what it is happening now. All of your graphic just look like a lot of noise without any clear direction. None of your graph shows its value has dropped a whole ebay value right?!

I never said it keeps dropping all the time, there is a graph where it dropped for 2-3 days after the announcement. A lot of bad news has been coming out for Apple recently, be it watch connectivity issues or supply constraints. It’s all noise until you see the earnings in January. Couple that with the recent market of buying everything up to new highs and you shouldn’t be surprised that Apple drops a decent amount.

As we all know the screen for iPhone X is from Samsung. And the Samsung "AMOLED burn-in" problem is very famous and everyone in the android side knows it. Just google "AMOLED burn-in" if you don't know about it. Basically after around a year, there will be some permanent burn-in marks on the screen and there is no way to solve it.

I have no idea why people feel excited about this coming new screen, I personally would not get one.

It will only make sense if you will buy a new phone after a year anyway. I don't buy new phone every single year especially for a phone that is $1000 (it is $13xx-$14xx in a lot of countries) without counting the apple care, fast charge cable, wireless dock, case, screen protector............

That is some real Samsung hatred you have there bud. I have been using AMOLED screened smartphones since 2010 and I have never seen any screen burn-in that you speak of.

Nope. Day 1 S0 has no burn in issue whatsoever. Fake news.
Okay.
1. I said I’ve heard of these issues, I didn’t say EVERYONE HAS HAD THEM.
2. Here’s a very recent thread about the issue. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/software-update-burned-apple-logo-into-my-screen.2070891/
3. I don’t know if you were kidding, but if you weren’t you’re incredibly brash and annoying. You’re seriously going to shout “Fake News” at me just because YOU don’t have the problem that some people do? If you want to live your life being that self-centered and obnoxious I can’t stop you but please stop bringing it to these forums.

It shouldn't have ANY burn in. That's why a never bought a plasma tv. Waited for the led to come out

I have a 1080P plasma tv that I’ve owned now for 6 years. Guess how much burn in I have? Guess??

I’ll tell you how much. None. Nothing. Nada. Nyente. Zip. Zippydedooda. Zero. That’s how much. I can aslo bet it’s got a far superior screen to your Led lcd tv.

I’m not worried about burnin on the oled screen when I buy the iPhone.

AMOLED devices I’ve owned.

Nexus S
Galaxy S2 (Sprint Version)
Galaxy S4
Galaxy S5
Galaxy Note 4
Apple Watch Gen 1
Galaxy S6
Gear Fit
Galaxy S8+
S3 Frontier
Apple Watch Series 1

How many have experienced any sign of burn in?

ZERO!!!!

So don’t worry about it.
