sorry guys I jumped the gun, the store ones was darker as I’ve been told they have demo mode and don’t go as bright but at home it’s much better so I’m sorry I was wrong, I still don’t like the taller notch lol

I don't want to play defense for Apple here, but I doubt they just flat out lie about the specifications of their new devices.

Are you sure it was really on full brightness and not auto brightness, for instance? Given that True Tone, Night Shift and such exist, the displays obviously tend to do a whole lot of adjusting by default.

And at least according to this guy, the notch does not reduce the useable display area.

if the device is hot (which it would be after an hour of putting it through its paces) it nerfs the screen brightness because too high a heat might damage it
No I tried all of them and they were not hot or dimmed

What kinda response is that, the phone states it has 1000 nuts compared to 800nits so it should be brighter not darker, why is that allowed apple is lying
I hate to tell you but Apple isn’t going to lie about specifications. They have specialized equipment to test screen brightness. You looking at the phones in the store is not an accurate test.

It just sounds like you want something to complain about because you’re also complaining about the notch. You have an iPhone 12 so if you don’t like the notch wait for the 14 because it supposed to be removed

It's the kind of response where you clearly aren't happy with your purchase. So rather than be mad and miserable and complain online, take it back and be happy.
I don’t think he bought the phone. He said he was looking at them in the store for an hour. If you have the 12 the upgrade is really negligible so unless you just want the newer screen it’s probably not worth it

He didn’t. He’s just trying to start something that doesn’t exist. That’s all

Just spent 1 hour in the apple store comparing them, and this is my take on max brightness with auto brightness off and True Tone off the 13 pro max was much darker than mine and the staff’s iPhone 12 Pro, they said 1200nits it’s a lie we compared a few and they are all darker in the apple store, they said outside it’s brighter but on max brightness it should be brighter not darker, also the notch is horrible it’s worse you notice the taller notch and even the apple staff said after I said it he noticed it to, I don’t understand how the new phones that are spose to be brighter are darker and also the whites feel flat he said my 12 pro max looked brighter and the whites popped more
But did Safari feel more snappy?

My bad. That means he has no skin in the game and no reason to complain. That's even worse than if he actually bought one. He 'spent an hour' but did he actually spend any money?

Well everyone has the right to complain. I mean why not. He’s just saying his observations but I think somehow the screen brightness thing is a misperception. Apple isn’t going to lie about something like this so to say they’re doing that is a bit silly. It would be so easy for someone to read the brightness of the screen and called them out on it.

1000 nits is peak for outdoor use with auto brightness turned on, you can’t set it to 1000 yourself, especially with auto brightness turned off.
I noticed my iPhone 12 Pro Max will dim down sometimes outdoors in bright sunlight. I think it’s because it’s getting hot. It’s a significant reduction in brightness to the point of you can barely see the screen
