My guess is that the space gray Sport is one of the MORE popular models. It apparently is one of the more popular MacBook models, for instance (though the gold is the most popular). I'm sure you'll get it before May 8. If May 8 comes and goes then you have a legitimate gripe. Until I got the Preparing for Shipment update, I was fully prepared to wait until May 8 for mine.

Let's think about this further. What if there were an unexpected production issue that sent the space gray defect rates soaring? Do you stop production entirely until you sort it out, or do you crank out more of the other watches so that you catch up with your overall backlog?

Again, then why are they shipping some out in the UK? Are they just hoping people in the UK are more tolerant to defects? I doubt it.

Also your logic is flawed in the fact that if the model was more popular, then they would produce more, obviously, not less. Not even one has charged in the USA, so if they were making more, I doubt not even one would go out. I think the 38mm was actually the LEAST popular to be honest, so they knew it wouldn't matter if they screwed over just a few people.

This is Angela's CYA moment for the terribly botched release that's not really a release. Have you been to a Burberry store or seen their online presence? What a hot mess and exactly what we have here. She was unprepared how to sell any kind of product in volume, or actually communicate with customers in other than a stiff and gawkward manner. Keeping people more involved and making humor a part of the process would go a long way.

Seems they should send out a follow up email to people who don't seem to understand this. Something like:

Dear Apple Customer,

Thank you for your order for the Apple Watch. When you place your order, your shipping information was listed as:

"Delivers 4/24 - 5/8 by Standard Shipping".

This means that your order may be delivered by:
April 24th
April 25th
April 26th
April 27th
April 28th
April 29th
April 30th
May 1st
May 2nd
May 3rd
May 4th
May 5th
May 6th
May 7th
May 8th

You will receive an update when we have shipped your order out. That will include a tracking number that you can monitor 24/7 to know where your package is.

Thank you
The Apple Team.

Who has all had it? Where did the rumour that if you get it you're not gonna get it on launch day start? I can't imagine that being the case!

Incidentally, I haven't had it.......yet. Curious that's all.

That email is Apple acknowledging that you pre-ordered early but they probably won't deliver your watch by 4/24. But they are reminding you and trying to soothe you by pointing out their commitment to deliver your watch within the delivery window of 4/24 - 5/8. Also, legally they are pointing out that 4/24 was not the date they committed to get you the watch but the date range of 4/24 - 5/8.

I received that email and don't care for it. But I can hold out until 5/8 if that long. Until that time, I'll be checking out YouTube for all the lucky ones who got a watch early and start posting videos about it.

So since people with all these June estimates are getting them shipped today who is tempted to try to go order a different version right now to see if it ships?

I already did so. It is not shipping until June. But if it somehow ships before my 4/10 order than I will cancel that one.

Maybe they had some, but not enough to satisfy demand in the US, so they sent what they had to the UK.

We're Working on Your Order..

...means it's being assembled currently and will ship out when it's prepared?

Speculating for those who have also received the now infamous email of death (EOD).

I just remember getting a confirmation date and being charged before my 6 Plus even left China, and I got that on launch day.

And that is exactly what's rustling my jimmies.

The perceived randomness is just mind boggling to me. The only discernible pattern as it affects me or my situation (42mm Space Grey, Black Sport Band, 12:03 A.M. confirmation, shipping to Texas) is that the vast majority of Texas and Oklahoma MacRumors members who've posted are all stuck in processing.

I know I'm overthinking it and getting all X Files about it.

The pattern seems to be the Black Sports Band is causing delays on the SS models.

Looks like some folks who received the EOD last night are getting charges, seems like quite a few SG models too.
Let's hope this is our time!

Ya that still is a huge screw job to us here in the US, the HOME of Apple.

You are grasping at straws. The Apple Watch is launching globally in 9 countries that are historically large markets for it. Perhaps we got more of a model that isn't as available outside the U.S. The complexities of a global launch means that we don't necessarily get everything first. In a few years China might be a larger market for Apple than the U.S.

I noted elsewhere that my charger is to be delivered on Saturday. Perhaps there will be Apple Watch orders coming in then, as well.

I received the email last night. An hour ago my CC was charged and now my order status is showing Preparing for Shipment!

Here is the email.

I got my charges and my order just switched to preparing for shipment. Got the EoD last night too. Looks like I might be on for tomorrow!

What time did you place your order on the 10th? what watch model?

Watch: 42mm Milanese Loop
Delivery Window: 4/24 - 5/8
Timestamp: xx:06
Order status: Shipped
Received EOD: Yes
Payment method: Visa
CC Charged: 04/23 @ 10:58 am Pacific
Shipping to: Phoenix
Tracking info showing on UPS: No (Not yet)

I ordered the 42mm Space gray with black band at 12:01. confirmation email at 12:03. Got the EOD and was convinced that I wouldn't have my watch for awhile. Got Charged today, looked at my order status and it said preparing to ship. I thought that was great that I would have it by early next week. Now it says it's shipped. Tracking info is not up to date on UPS sight, but I'm thinking theres a good chance it'll be delivered tomorrow now. So excited!

Why did they not send this out to EVERY one on the wait list, only to those between 4/24 and 5/8. The rest of us are not important enough???

oh trust me. this email means nothing at all except to reiterate the fact that pre-ordering early means nothing.

you should hope that you dont get the email because you're more likely to have your order processed earlier.

It sucks that we're not going to participate in "launch day" like most people, but I still think we're going to get ours before or on the 8th. If we slept in we'd likely be posting in the June thread instead.
