lol I feel like you guys are gonna hold on to this fedex theory until 9:00 PM tomorrow like "come on guys if they drop the watches out of the plane while flying overhead then we can still get our watches on launch day have hope".

I seriously laughed so hard at this, thank you :)

After reading over various posts throughout the day and over the past few days, I've begun to think more and more that the watches that are still processing are coming via Fedex. Here are some reasons:

1. The Space Gray Sport - These seem to be by far the most rare to get shipping notifications (I haven't seen a single 38mm ship), yet these were by far the most popular config. How is it that Apple wouldn't anticipate this?

2. The black sport band - Again, very rare. Most of the ones shipping now are other colors. Again, there's no way Apple wouldn't anticipate the black sport band being the most popular.

3. Fedex is usually the carrier of choice for Apple...and many of the accessories are shipping quickly (some the next day!) via Fedex.

4. The Apple Watch deliveries so far have been manufactured after the pre order date. So Apple decided to make these all in 2 weeks?

So what's more likely? That Apple, who has one of the most sound supply chains of any company, is going to miss demand on the most popular Watch config out there....

Or, that Apple produced a ton of the models they thought would be most popular and got them to Fedex early. Maybe Fedex has a warehouse of Apple Watches already assembled waiting for shipment tonight. The accessories got shipped to the same place and, without a hold, have begun going out. The reason these wouldn't have charged yet is because Apple is paying for the Fedex warehouse space. They still technically own the title to the goods. The UPS orders were supposed to be store inventory, but, due to demand outclassing supply, they diverted those to pre orders.

Please read the above.

If this were the case everyone would have tracking numbers by now, so yea...

You and me both bud.

Soooooo yeah, read the whole thread. Tracking wouldn't hit until the first scan.
This has happened in every major Apple Launch over the past few years, FedEx has shipped loads of the most popular unit out, literally overnight (charges and all)

XX:05:51 42mm SG - I am onboard with this theory. Here is to optimism in the face of everything else!

Soooooooo yea, not going to happen don't get your hopes up; we would of seen tracking numbers by now.

On the 5s release same thing happened with the gold version, was the most popular and people didn't see it until a month later at the earliest.

I'm a 38mm SS link bracelet. I'm not too sure this theory applies to me, but hopefully it does! There has been very little movement of the SS link and they've all been 42mm.

IF FedEx was receiving them in bulk into Memphis... we would not see tracking until their first scan out the door. That means... it is possible and we would not have seen ANY tracking yet.

Dude you are so late to the party. We've been all over this days ago.
If you don't want to read the thread filled with optimism, don't comment on it with your negative drabble.

Has anyone tried contacting Apple rep to see if they indeed are using fedex as another carrier?

They likely wouldn't know for sure. Reps usually just guess based on what they've heard from other callers.

To all the buzzkills that want to shoot this theory down. I get that you figured out Santa wasn't real on your own. I get that you set up video cameras to catch your parents as the tooth fairy, but here is the deal: This is just a theory and we can have hope even if it is faint and wishful thinking and it doesn't hurt you.

The reps know far less than we do, unfortunately.
Some FedEx drivers have said they were preparing for a busy day of delivering apple watches tomorrow, but that hasn't been confirmed.
