If you are still under your 30 days return it. Get your money back and buy another one. It may be a pain, but at least you'll get another one and have another 30 days. And by the looks of it, you'll have to do it today so hurry.

Any advice is extremely appreciated!

Here's my advice: You called the people working there *******s, and one person you called a "dick". I don't know what you are expecting, but you seem to have a serious attitude problem, and the result is usually that people will be unhelpful towards you.

Or you can just call Applecare and tell them what happened, ?

As I see many issues, and must send people to the apple store almost daily... I never send anyone to the Fifth Ave Store..... Best stores to deal with is Soho or 14th/9th Ave.

Just from Customer Feedback

I usually send mine to AppleCare via mail.

I also have problems with my home button. Sometimes it doesn't register the click. Sometimes it registers more than one click. If it was just that the click didn't work, that would be mildly annoying. But with the new multi-tasking abilities, it's extremely frustrating not being about to do a proper double-click when you want.

I too made an appointment at the Apple store. And we were completely unable to reproduce the problem. It only happens 30%-50%. Just bad luck. But I think I'll make another appointment because it's extremely frustrating.

Still, even those they were unable to reproduce the problem and I was unable to in front of them, I found my visit to be pleasant if not productive.

Control what you can control (yourself) and don't worry about others. Perhaps you can try another Apple Store.

My understanding is that he didn't call the staff names when he visited, but rather as a mental dialouge.

Anyway, the staff at NYC Apple stores are plenty friendly if you are buying something or having an item serviced. However, when it comes to replacements they are extremely strict--much more so than other cities. It's a NYC thing to be difficult.

The OP should try to get a replacement through Applecare as previously suggested if he cannot solve the issue.

if you don't have push email set up then your phone will freeze once in a while to delete old emails and download new ones. or it may just be downloading large messages.

flash storage can be pretty slow sometimes and OS X is not known for fast flash I/O

Since iPhones are assembled in China by factory workers...

Chinese factory workers ≠ quality

That's just how it is when it comes to mass production for high demand. That is why there are so many imperfections in electronic devices. You return your iPhone, you take a risk of getting something just as bad if not worse. It's not even worth it.

I was having the same problems with mine the week I got it. I got it replaced right away, although the new one is not as perfect as my 3GS was, but its not as bad as it was in the first one.

That's an ignorant comment to make if your phone isn't afflicted by this issue. If you have nothing useful to contribute to the conversation, just move along.

My bad. I'm just getting tired of 'omg my iP4 has a scratch,' or 'i can't click on the home button at a very acute angle' threads.

My current iPhone 4 is my second replacement
'Nuff said.

Exactly what I was thinking. I think some people swap out their iPhones just because they found a speck of dust on it. One guy here in the forums said he had something ridiculous like 17 replacements or something. No way people have that many "real" problems. I have 3 iPhones on my family plan, 2 3GSs and an iPhone4. Guess how many have even seen the Genius Bar, ZERO.

As I said above, it has nothing to do with either the flash storage or apps, etc. The button does not register clicks on the home screen. Toady it's even worse: even firm clicks can be left unnoticed by the phone. I called Apple Care today, a replacement is supposed to be on the way soon. Hopefully, everything will be fine. Fingers crossed.
I'll update later when there's any news

Oh, please!
Do you think I'm happy with replacing my phone, like I don't have anything else to do in this life. My previous iPhone 4 had two BIG yellow spots on the screen. I have never had any problems with my iPhone 3G S! And, please, don't overgeneralize: I'm not a weirdo who is too concerned about every single scratch on his phone: I don't even have a case or bumper on it, I don't need it. I just want a normal phone, as simple as that! It's not my fault that Apple put so much on Chinese workers and they're unable to manufacture enough units. I know the conditions they're working under: it's horrible. Thus I told myself that I would keep this phone when the issue just appeared, but, unfortunately, it has come to the degree when I can't even use my phone.

Oh Jesus.

Seriously? The issue is so bad that you can't even use the phone yet no one at the Apple store could replicate your issue even once? You would have a hard time convincing me that Apple wouldn't replace a phone that WOULD NOT EVEN WORK.

I've been to that store a couple of times and the staff behaves like they are effing celebrity. I think they forget that they have low-paid, low-responsibility retail positions that happens to be in a very expensive location.

However, you go across the road and the staff at The Plaza does the same until you check in. Then they are your bitches. It's just a bit of a hassle to find a company that pays for hotel rooms that cost the same for a night as a MBP!

I think its always different with every visit. I went to the store on fifth ave because my proximity sensor was really bad even with 4.1...I replicated the issue twice and the genius tried once and couldnt replicate the issue and told me to wait for the next update. I was upset but stayed calm and asked if maybe someone else can take a look at it. He went and got another genius and they were able to replicate it and I was given a replacement on the spot. I checked to make sure the proximity sensor was good and off I went....I was still upset....but only cuz I got 4.0.2 and I have to wait for the next jailbrake :p.....But I have a working phone with no issues! :D

Hello!
If you had paid enough attention to some of my posts above, you would have seen my words about the fact that it GOT WORSE today and that even firm clicks are not being registered by the phone. If I had come to the Apple store today, I wouldn't have had any problems with replicating the issue. But I have already gone through the Apple Care process and a replacement is on its way. Thank you.

so you are saying the button works if used correctly ?

"dear Lexus I crashed my car because the car would not stop when I lightly pressed the brake pedal. the pedal worked 100% of the time if I pressed it firmly, but clearly this is a hardware issue, please give me a new car"
