1. install SSD + 8GB 1333Mhz RAM
2. uncheck inverted scrolling and activate the 'touching thing on the trackpad instead of real clicking'.
3. install MS Office 2011 and Spotify.
4. Set a custom wallpaper (interfacelift IMO).
5. Install all the various software etc.

lol I am psychic lol Its just the way that it is, I love all of my multimedia programs they are the best. I am especially in love with final cut pro it is soooo awesome. The only downside is that the iLife programs make you want to buy the pro versions. After using iPhoto I had to buy Aperture and after using iMovie I had to have final cut pro.

"First thing I did" sounds to me like someone has early access to a 2012 MBP?:D

Migrate over old data, itunes music library, install Office, starcraft 2 and Windows 7.

In case the new 15" Pros won't have SSDs, I will move over my SSD from my current late 2008 13" unibody MacBook to the new Pro and reinstall OSX.

Afterwards i will migrate my data from NAS. Hell, I hope Apple found a way to keep the ethernet connection on the thinner body. Don't want to spend 20€+ for a dumb usb/thunderbolt to ethernet adaptor...

Hmm, what's next? Oracles Java 7 JDK and Latex so that I can finish my bachelor thesis :D

In most cases, app removal software doesn't do a thorough job of finding and removing files/folders related to deleted apps. For more information, read this and this. If you just want to delete the app, drag the .app file to the trash. No other software needed. If you want to completely remove all associated files/folders, no removal apps will do the job.

The most effective method for complete app removal is manual deletion:

Well, it's been 5+ years since I purchased a new computer, but first thing I will do when I buy a new one in 2012 (Mac or otherwise):

1 - Install Firefox and Chrome. Hate Safari.
2 - Check for software updates.

Hmm... Just got a new laptop 2 days ago... Let me think what I did...

- Put it to English, because Dutch blows balls.
- Customize settings (tap-to-click, inverted scrolling off etc.)
- Download Firefox, Thunderbird, Flash and µTorrent
- Download Caffeine and Psst
- Install MS Office
- Install Lightroom, Photoshop, After Effects, Final Cut 7 and Illustrator
- Make a nicely arranged, beautiful dock.
- Set all my bookmarks in Firefox
- Set-up Time Machine

Set the System Preferences to my liking. With Lion that really means changing the scroll direction to how it used to be.

Second, play around with all of the awesome gestures (came from a 2008 MB that doesn't have multitouch :( ).

Third, run software update.

Fourth, open apps that I tend to use and set preferences for them.

Fifth, start pulling in all of my music, photos, documents, etc.

Me, I add any new drives/memory and reinstall the OS to my needs. Well I used to reinstall OSX, but with Lion only installing what you need that point may be moot.
