Had a chance to check out the heart rate monitor and pedomitor today.
The heart rate monitor proved to be very accurate for my in my test.
The elliptical machine has a built in heat rate monitor. grab the handles and it displays your heart rate. I tested it 5 times using the elliptical heart rate monitor and the S5 heart rate monitor. They had the same reading all five times. that was my real world test....your mileage may vary.
The pedometer works...but I am kinda disappointed that it stops counting while I am on the treadmill or elliptical machine. It seems walking in place does not count! :)

Here is a screen shot of memory management. Draw your own conclusions.....

S5 prices are dropping already here in Australia from $929 on Friday down to $780 today, 4 days in. Same happened with the S4. Its $60 cheaper than the M8 already. Go samsung. I might pick one up when they are around the $600 for a weekend phone.

Just played with the S5. Very unimpressed.

Just felt more of the same. The new touchwiz felt more cartoonish than ever. Didn't really like it.

The worst thing is the feeling I get that the device is not fast. There's just a little bit of stutter, but the device doesn't feel fast (at least not as fast as the Nexus 5, which was blazing fast). Not saying there's lag, just that the overall speed is not comparable to the Nexus 5, for example.

The back was better than old Galaxy's, but the "metal" sides (like the ones in the Note 3) were just horrible. Hate that new design. Doesn't make sense to me. Also didn't like that the sides of the front panel are taller than the rest.

My magazine is interesting, and really liked the new multitasking button instead of the old menu one. Much more convenient. It was about time, but still dislike the hardware home button.

Loudspeaker was weak.

Oh, and the screen. Don't understand why it's getting that much praise. Again, to me it just feels like the same old AMOLED display found in every Samsung device. Felt disappointed again with the maximum brightness. Still not enough. The Nexus 5 display felt 5x better than this one IMO. But this is personal. I just like IPS more than AMOLED.

Tried the G2 again and liked it much more than the S5.

Correct me if I am wrong here:

Isn't s-voice activated by a double tap of the home button? I consider s-voice to be pretty useless when google now is available. The reason I say this is one the last generation of galaxy devices, if you turned OFF the double tap for s-voice, you sped up the response of the device when using the home button, since the phone is waiting to see if you will click again.

A lot of the perceived lag could be that?

I was completely set on waiting to see what the iphone 6 offers, and still am, but this rumor of a $100 price increase is offsetting for me. I will be buying the phone straight out, as I do all my phones now, and as such don't fancy an increase in $100.

I think I will have to go look at the galaxy s5 soon.

So based on a rumor that could have been started by a competitor, you are gonna go look at another phone?

No, you misunderstand.

I ALWAYS look at the other phones, and compare the competition. I wasn't even going to go look at the s5...but I think I might.

I will also look at the moto x 2, and the lg g3.

What happens if apple doesn't raise the price? Well, if the screen size increases and their is nothing blatantly wrong with it, I will be getting one. If they do increase the price, I might give more thought to the competitors.....

But that being said, I have owned numerous flagship android devices, and even a windows device (that last a week). I always come back to the iphone. I am tired of fully the tech addiction, so I am enjoying my 5s, with the plans to upgrade to the 6 if things go as expected.

Same here...I have the S5 but still going to look at the OnePus One, IP6, LG G3, Note 4, Z2, and so on.......

Try using a stair master. You would be shocked at results within a month, trust me! I do not even bother with ellipticals and treadmills anymore.

Thanks AppleRobert....I will try stair master or some kind of stepper...whatever they have at my gym......

If you guys want to make your Samsung look more premium get a kommandant case for it.

I just ordered this one and will skip the gs5 and keep my s4 for another year.

I turned off the s-voice home button activation. I know the trick. Still wasn't fast enough for me, mainly because I had the Nexus 5 and it was perfect speed-wise.

I had my first opportunity to feel one of these up today. I actually quite liked the dimpled back! Also it felt very thin and light. The new version of TouchWiz is a step forward but still far from good looking IMO.

In any case the screen is too small for me, but I'm looking forward to seeing these things progress perhaps a tad further still until the Note 4 comes out. I wouldn't mind if it had the same back as the S5.

Yesterday on TV I saw a Verizon commercial advertising BYGO for the S5. Do brand new flagship devices usually have BYGO?

Yep! Verizon is also doing BOGO with the M8....they are trying to keep customers from going to TMO.

Why, you don't like reading reviews? I didn't write them;) Touchy.

Try this one then:)

Not touchy....your only reason to post the reviews is to put down the S5. You choose to buy the HTC M8 and validate your choice you continue to post all the negative stuff you can find about the S5. Pretty petty and small of you...really says what character you have. You are posting about a phone you have no interest in buy and have said so numerous times. So why post all the negative stuff? You are just trolling!

Does the s5 have ART?

Thanks for all the feedback jamezr

David pierce (the verge) needs to stick to reviewing ios products IMO. Bias just oozes from that guy

At least they finally acknowledge android as an ecosystem is not really a negative anymore
