I don't want any of those phones.....i think they spam the market with too many varieties sometimes......different phones for different regions and countries. :)

In every electronic shop here in Italy you can find not less than a dozen of different samsung's phones, ranging from 90€ up to 700€.
They are really flooding the market, and for the average customer is not easy to know if they are buying a good mid range or just an old model ...

Do customers really need that ?

freedom of choice is never a bad thing.

Yes...if they buy them then they needed them. If they don't buy them......they will stop being made......

From your local country, Fiat makes very cheap cars as well as Lamborghini super cars. Is this a problem for you?

You don't know Fiat models very well, correct ?
Because fiat is making cars in almost every class of price, from 10000€ up to 40000€, but the don't sell 2-3 cars OF THE SAME CLASS WITH DIFFERENT NAMES, like Samsung is doing.
And, for your culture, Fiat OWNS Ferrari....

Very poor example on your part.

I was mistaken about Lamborghini vs. Ferrari but my point stands. A manufacturer can cover every part of the market to maximize sales and profits. GM and Ford do it with cars. Samsung does the same thing with smartphones. HP does the same thing with laptops. Cisco does the same thing with routers. It's Marketing 101. Market Segmentation.

Even Apple does it. But at a higher price point. You can buy an iPhone for $450, $550, $650, $750, and $850.

The charge port on this phone is a nightmare, went past a store today and took me 4 or 5 goes to open it. And even closing it was hard.
How are you S5 owners handling that. Bring on the Note 4.

I'm not fan of that flap/cover and worst part is that I will be surprised if the Note 4 is not water resistant like the s5 which means that flap is coming.

Not a fan either.......wish they had made the S5 with wireless charging out of the gate. But after a while you get used to it. For me......it is a trade off. I am around water allot hiking outdoors. So water resistance is nice to have. No more have to place my phone in a ziploc bag.

. No more have to place my phone in a ziploc bag.

See I would do that anyway regardless out of fear I'd damage it :D It is a pain though having to take your phone/camera out of the ziploc - take a snap - put it back in the ziploc .... Especially if like me you are up a mountain and your hands are dead from the cold winds ...

Went to AT&T and paid off my NEXT installment plan for my 5S and in turn was allowed to get an S5 on the same line so I did.

This thing is so awesome it is actually a bit overwhelming at first.

Yeah, got fed up with the ziploc routine when we were at the water park, beach, etc so I just bit the bullet and picked up a Lifeproof case for those occasions where waterproof is a big benefit. I'm not worried about exposure to water on a daily, or even regular basis so I'd personally rather go this route than make compromises on daily use (i.e. port flaps).

I finally got my hands on a working unit today and wasn't terribly impressed. Now, I will qualify that after having a few Samsung devices that ran TouchWiz and really disliking the experiences, to be impressed would have required a near paradigm shift on Samsung's part. It seems to be a very good phone. To second the opinions of many before me, the display is fantastic. Its form also is quite comfortable to hold. And for the 15-20 minutes I used it, it was rather quick and with the exception of the Magazine page off the home screen, no real noticeable instances of lag. Even opening the app switcher was near instantaneous, contrary to what I'd read in a few places online.

All that being said, for me, it's just more of the same from Samsung. Same light, cheap looking and feeling plastic and pretty much the same TouchWiz. TouchWiz's design has a new coat of paint but it still feels over bloated and cartoony. Everything is still so big, especially in places like the notification panel and settings, two places that can't be changed with a launcher.

All in all, I'm sure it's a very capable device. If someone has been a fan of Samsung's devices and software in the past, you'll like be very happy with the S5--improved display, smoother performance, slightly improved camera. However, if you weren't a fan of their previous offerings, I don't see what aspects of their newest device would change your mind. Didn't do anything to change my impressions but of course, that's just my preference.

GPE S5 is imminent according to droid life.

$200 price drop oon the huge Sony GPE

I'm so tempted to pick up the Z Ultra GPE as a secondary device. With summer fast approaching, I'd love to have one device to bring out at the beach, park, etc with the kids, instead of carrying a phone and e-reader/tablet---and a waterproof one to boot...running stock Android...oooohhhh... :D

Looks like I'm heading over to Swappa to sell some older devices sooner than planned.

Was surprised to see the price cut, makes me wonder if sony has something else coming too

Does seem like it can fit that role :)

Hard for me to imagine not having to worry about water near the phone

What are they like as a e-reader?

One more thing to do with finger print scanner. Never heard of LastPass before though. Probably Google play will add it too.

My order status finally changed to fulfillment on my employer website. $200 for device. They will take care of monthly bills. Best thing is porting to ATT from Sprint. I can switch to cheaper unlocked Nexus/moto phones and sell my S5 in future in case. Any recommendations for good cheap cases.
