I have exactly ten apps turned off and Art enabled and my GS5 flows so smooth. Dare I say, iPhone smooth.

Beautiful screen as well. One thing i didnt like was when going thru the menu trying to find things....holy crap there is a lot of stuff in there. That was annoying but id get used to it as i have a simpler Nexus 5 right now.

S-Finder is universal search. Works well. I've haven't plodded through menus and options since using it.


I dont get the bigger plug in charger though. Why it is bigger and looks to have two different plug in points on the bottom? Yes i know you can still use a micro plug in, just want to know what the other one is for.

USB 3.0. Biggest noticeable feature is going from zero to a full charge in a little over an hour. Very fast. iPhone fast...

Fast data transfer as well.

I just tried and saw the S5 in person for the first time today. The screen is really nice and the design looks better in person, in pictures i think the black S5 looks better but i person defiantly the white. The performance was good much better than the lagtastic S4 and the UI while much better could still be improved. Overall to really get an idea of the S5 you need to try it in person, i was almost impressed its not bad as some people are making it out.

I don't many are saying it's bad, most say it's a fantastic device. One of the best around

I can give you my reason for that ...
As reported on another thread here, I received a gift card to buy a subsidized phone from my carrier at a very good price, and the main product offered was the S5.
I spent most of the morning in the shop, testing and "tasting" the S5, undecided about what to buy (the alternatives were Lumia 1520 and LG G2). I was very tempted .... but I finally gave up with it.
Screen and form factor are very good, but build quality is just meh, and I really can't stand that back cover. What finally made me decide against it was touchwiz and bloatware installed on it....

I don't "hate" Samsung, but I'm very disappointed ....

Im using Nils and its ok but one thing i cant fix, i customized the colors for my notifications on my lock screen and i get two sets of them. One set that scrolls with my colors and another that i can move around that is default colors.

Why am i getting two sets of the same thing? I cant seem to find how to get rid of it. Maybe ill try Glance.

Just received black S5. I really like the back cover and screen except chrome strip around the phone. Back cover is much better than all other plastic phones with glossy back. It has nice texture and look. Samsung could have gone with solid metal strip instead of chrome painted one.
It is plenty fast for my needs. I disable animation features using this link.

Now unlock and home functions are instantaneous. But noticed slowness while opening multitask window as if it is waiting for something. Samsung bloated phone with 300 apps. It needs some cleanup. Camera looks very nice in good light.

Nice shot, I don't mind the back of the phone and i agree with you on the chrome, it looks better on the white one not that i would ever buy a white phone. Didn't know the chrome is painted. Typical cheap Samsung, and they have the hide to sell same price as 5S and M8:roll eyes: Then Made in Korea:eek: Hopefully not North Korea:mad:
 
Obviously we all have different tastes and some are pickier than others. For me, its just a phone. Its not a prestige factor or cool factor.
I have absolutely no problem with the plastic backs of the Galaxy line. They are easy to remove and cheap to get different ones of a different style, color, and texture.
Ive had an aluminum back phone and didnt really like it. It dents, when dropped, scraches really look bad on it and its very slippery and i drop it way more often.
I used a case on my GS3 most of the time but not always. I didnt use one when i had a back with leather on it.

My ONLY complaint with Samsung is the bloatware.

It costs as much as a iPhone because there is more to it. Its way bigger, has more glass, more battery, has a SD slot and does more things. It probably costs more to make though not much more but you can also get one cheaper down teh road than you can a iPhone if you dont mind waiting for one or just decide to get one later on.

I think, it is a chrome painted. I liked the black bezel around screen and charcoal back cover compared to white version. Back cover is actually scratch proof like glossy ones.

When I changed run time to art, it has to update 300+ apps. Phone came with that many apps factory installed. Samsung stuffed lot of hardware and software. It has a sensor to warn for not closing charging port flap. Charging with USB 3.0 is very fast. When not using any app, RAM usage is around 1gb and 850MB of free space. Not sure if it is as expected.

I have M7 with ATT as well. I will post download speeds after checking it out from the same place.

Don't let all the negative people ruin it for you this is a great phone. I have one and life it! As others here will tell you it is a great phone! Hope you enjoy it!

Side note..

I saw the blue backed S5 earlier and I really like the blue colour, still think it would look nicer with a white or blue front though.

I also saw the gold one ..... It's the only S5 I really do not like the look of. It's a really horrible colour.
