Never liked the S series but Samsung makes enough improvements I like one day they'll eventually get it right. LOL

You should still have lock screen widgets unless your using a security, like you fingerprint or pin, AFAIK. If your looking for notifications on your lock screen, you can use nils floating lock screen widget. It works whether you have a secure lock or not.

No widgets on lock screen. No notification center.

I use Glance, as recommended by another member and it works incredibly.

It's been two weeks now, still going with the S5, not missing my iPhone 5S at all.

The S5 has been an amazing purchase thus far.

Wow, kinda surprised by that, Samsung doesn't usually remove features. I tried Glance, but prefer Nils because of actional notifications on my lock screen where as glance only allowed me to view or dismiss.

It's not just Samsung though. Manufactures often remove stock Android features or limit them.

On the M7, HTC only allows one lockscreen widget for example. You can't have more than one.

Samsung sells more smartphones than all major manufacturers combined in Q1

Samsung may be worried about the decline in the sales of its handsets, but if the latest IDC numbers are any indication, the South Korean manufacturer is going great. In Q1 2014, Samsung managed to sell more smartphones than all other major handset manufacturers combined. The manufacturer controlled 30.2 percent of the global smartphone market share and sold 85 million handsets in the first three months of 2014. Four other major manufacturers that included Apple, Huawei, Lenovo, and LG accounted for a combined market share of 29.4 percent, which is less than Samsung’s market share over the same period. IDC mentioned that all other manufacturers combined accounted for 40.5 percent of the market share, but these include all local as well as smaller handset vendors that do not pose a threat to Samsung.

During the same time last year, Samsung controlled a 31.9 percent market share and sold 69.7 million handsets. The South Korean manufacturer shared concerns over the slight decline in its market share, but in terms of overall handsets sold, Samsung is still doing better than all other vendors. With the Galaxy S5 estimated to beat the sales numbers of last year’s Galaxy S4, Samsung is poised to continue the momentum into the second quarter.

My Daughter wanted to upgrade her GS3 today to the GS5 so thats what she got.
So getting a closer look with it:

It isnt much taller than the GS3 which i thought it would be. Turned off many bloatware and put it in ART mode and it runs very fast and smooth. Beautiful screen as well. One thing i didnt like was when going thru the menu trying to find things....holy crap there is a lot of stuff in there. That was annoying but id get used to it as i have a simpler Nexus 5 right now.

Comes with many good features. The camera does a lot!
I dont get the bigger plug in charger though. Why it is bigger and looks to have two different plug in points on the bottom? Yes i know you can still use a micro plug in, just want to know what the other one is for.

On another note, checked out the LG Curve...my god that thing is huge! Too big for me but interesting device.


Funny thing here: Asked my Wife , ...when she gets a new phone if she still wanted a Windows phone(she has the HTC Radar running Win 7) or a Android? She said she didnt care and asked whats the difference? She said "they are both the same. All you do is touch things", ..LOL. Its funny because she has a Nexus 7 and she cant tell the difference.

That's a microUSB 3 port--don't know the technical reasons why it's different but if you want USB 3 data transfer speeds, you need to use one of these.

So they should they have 100 to choose from. They spend a fortune on advertising, this year i have seen them sponsoring our Winter Olympics telecast with Note 3's, our biggest rating show of the year with contestants all with Note 3's and also every World Tour surfing event for the year now with S5. Plus a zillion S5 ads going now. Rarely see a iPhone one or any other phone.
Even shows here that have iMac/macbooks or iPhones in them have the Apple logo covered.

So no surprise there:)

LOL....so what is bad about that? If HTC could sell phones to make a profit they could do all that too.....

Did i say there was anything bad about it, just stating a fact. Most of their phones are cheap crap, maybe they should compare their best phones Note 3 and S5 only against say Apple 5C,5S sales?

I am no HTC fan, M8 is first one i have ever owned. I couldn't give a toss how many they sell. Never even tried one till i got this.

Your love of all things Samsung is a little bit strange:p

If Samsung didnt bloat the crap out of the GS5 it would be a great device. Nobody uses Samsungs services here in the USA from an article i saw. No reason to. We all use Googles playstore and services so that stuff gets turned off. Id prefer to save the space on the phone and delete it.

It is a micro usb cable and plug. My usb3 hard drive came with similar cable and micro usb port. USB 3.0 compatible ports are colored in blue for laptops. Much faster transfer speeds when you use usb 3.0 compatible ports on laptop. Very fast charging as well.

Sorry...but wrong again. I have been one of the biggest detractors for TW and all the bloat that comes on Samsung phones. I have had the Lumia 1520, nexus 5 and have a OPPO Find 7 on it way......so I don't just have Samsung phones. On my radar is the Xperia Z2....
Samsung makes great hardware their phones are always to notch in quality. They just need to optimize their software.
The last part of your post I will ignore....get you jollies some other way....:eek:
