I think that where no pc has gone before is : bringing togeather thaousands of it's users to talk about their love for it, and to have them discuss it (probably not..). Someone at apple should be givin a nobel prize for best marketing on earth tho.

this is ironic you say that - since Apple has been notoriously bad at marketing good products

I really like it.
It looks like the font they use in The Village ; )

It's probably ITC Gorilla :)
(steves favourite)

The font:

The font is Skia, love that font. This anticipation is bugging the hell out of me... Kinda' like when my Quicksilver 867 was in the mail for 2 weeks due to a credit card screw-up...

It's something definitely not approved by Apple

The font would be garamond book if it were a truly apple branded sign or booklet.

MAN- YOU GUYS DON'T KNOW FONTS!

Well at first I suspected it was Apple Garamond, but it is in fact Gil Sans. Nearly everything Apple's titles are are Apple Garamond. It would make me now think it is for sure a plaque and not a book.

Apple uses Apple Garamond on just about everything, including the titles on the website. The font was specifically designed for Apple and is a slightly modified version of Adobe's Garamond.

The nice thing about Apple's Font, is that it has probably close to a thousand more kerning pairs than the average font so when you bring the letters really close together, they look really nice.

I've had the font for nearly 8 years now when an advertising agency brought the font over to me for doing some print work at a print shop I worked at. the funny thing is, is that the piece was on Apple security talking about how to make sure that people don't get ahold of Apple's proprietary stuff, and I have had the font ever since.

Now the font is burried somewhere on Apple's FTP server, can't remember where.

Who doesn't know fonts?

The font being discussed is the one in the sign at the top of this thread, which is indeed Gil Sans.

Apple Garamond Book is Apple's official font, but it's not what's used in the sign on Woz's desk...

... which is what was being discussed.

p.s. ...and for the person who said it couldn't be something official because it wasn't in Apple Garamond Book, that's not true. Though Apple is pretty strict about using Apple Garamond Book in marketing and product stuff, they, like many organizations, use other fonts for other purposes.

Not to be snide or anything, but if you're going to confuse Gil Sans and any variation of garamond, you really don't know fonts all that well.

Heh. So apparently out of sheer frustration we've resorted to discussing an issue we actually have a slight chance to figure out (it is Gill Sans). :)

Personally if I were Woz I would be putting all sorts of weird things out on my desk right about now, like a toy Star Trek Tricorder, or a space flight training manual. I might put a single red wool mitten on my desk, with a cable coming out of it and running down to the floor behind the desk. I would take out a sheet of copier paper and write in orange magic marker, "Say Hello to iMarker," then leave the paper AND the marker out for all to see.

We'll know in about 40 hours now. :)

HELLP WITH WOZCAM PLEASE!

HELP

Dose anyone know why i cant get the woz cam to work in either internet explorer, omni web, opera? All i get is a small black screen where the web cam should be with the time and date above it!

Suggestions?

Regarding "Apple Game Room"

This particular item shown on Mr. Woz's desk appears to be either a door or a window sign that belongs to a public suite or conference room located at 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, CA 95014.

Perhaps this room/window sign may have fallen off and someone will eventually be reattaching this sign to it's appropriate location.

It does not appear to be any particular book, manual or guide. The font on the surface of the item in question appears to be either Geneva or Charcoal. Usually when Apple publishes an instruction manual or guide, it has a font using Apple's corporate typeface, called "Apple Garamond."

Come on people this is cleary a piece of paper adheared to a piece of foam core board

its probaly one of woz's jokes an he will put it on his door to his game room but hasent gotten a chance....

an give it a rest WOZ IS NOT GONNA FLASH AROUND A NEW APPLE PRODUCT IN FRONT OF THE WORLD A WEEK BEFORE MWSF

DON'T YOU PEOPLE GET IT? IT IS A SIGN FOR A CONFERENCE ROOM AT APPLE HQ. A NUMBER OF PEOPLE HAVE SAID SO HERE BECAUSE THEY'VE BEEN TO THE APPLE CAMPUS AND SEEN IT, JUST LIKE MYSELF. WHY DO YOU KEEP DISCUSSING IT? DON'T YOU HAVE ANYTHING BETTER TO DO?

IT IS A SIGN!!! I DO BELIEVE!!!

Steve: Hey, Woz, check out all the buzz I'm creating putting teasers on my web site!

Woz (laughing): That's cool, Steve. Do they mean anything?

Steve: Hell, no, but it's driving my customers crazy. Hey, why don't you put some sort of sign on your site to make them even more crazy?

Woz: Some sort of sign, eh.....?

FONT

Here's how you know that it isn't a manual for a new Apple product: the font is NOT Apple Garamond. As you know, that is the company's official font for their published materials like manuals. It's just Woz messin' wit' yo' head.
