I picked up my 16GB Silver iPad Air earlier this afternoon at Best Buy. After using it throughout the day, I hate to admit it, but I'm strongly contemplating taking it back (BBY has a 15 day return policy on iPads) and getting a refund for an iPad mini w/ Retina display, once it releases later this month (despite the potential supply shortages). Hear me out, please read the following two paragraphs before flaming me and it will all make sense. Capiche?
DON'T get me wrong, it an excellent 10" tablet. The best I've used bar-none. I'm coming from an iPad 2 and it's leaps and bounds better in terms of processing speed, weight, bezel reduction, etc. I just don't feel that it fits into my setup very well. I own a 27" iMac and an 11" MacBook Air. I feel like the iPad Air would overlap a lot with my 11" MacBook Air and unfortunately, since I'm a college student (CIS major - need a physical keyboard, desktop OS, and virtualization for programming), the 11" MacBook Air takes priority in my life, unfortunately.
HOWEVER, if you don't feel the need for a the things I mentioned above, go for it. You won't regret it. I just feel like a rMini will fit better into my personal setup but our needs are all different. The iPad Air is a damned good product, it just overlaps too much with other products in my setup that are more important.
