The online pick-up the same day purchase could not have gone smoother. Totally blew my mind. My only stress point came while walking to my car in the underground garage. Did anyone else have a moment of worry that someone might see that Apple bag, grab it and run?

Nah. I don't worry with iPads. iPhones are another matter.

I got 10% off with my discover card too so it is worth the wait!

Ordered online at 12.05am and picked my black 16GB up in the store at 9am. I paid online with my discover card. I wonder if/hope I will get the 5%+5% since the iPad wasn't shipped ?

Did anyone try and get the tmobile version for the 'free' 200mb? apparently you have to have an active sim card, which costs 10 bucks a month. totally got played by tmobile.

Was there any confirmation that in store pickup orders have to wait until after 12 noon to get it? I keep hearing this but nobody confirmed it yet. That they were allocating a certain amount to put on hold for pickup orders to be processed after noon.

My card was charged and the amount is in "Pending" status. But the money is gone. Also says "Available today. We'll notify you when these items are ready."

Really hoping I can pick it up at 8AM or close to then still.

Engraving is cool and I would love to engrave my ipad, but I never get it. I upgrade too often and it hurts resale value. Nobody wants an iPad that says some personal thing on it. Maybe if you got something that wasn't personal and everyone could enjoy it would be worth more?

Understand the sentiment. I engraved my iPad 2, my wife's iPad 4, and now the iPad Air. Yes, it probably would detract from value but I have what I want. One of the kids wants the iPad 2 and will keep the case on it so no one will see my name on it. I probably wouldn't engrave it if I knew I was going to sell it soon.It is all good!!

Ordered the 16gb Air last night on Apple, then found out today my local Best Buy had them in stock
So I cancelled the Apple.com order, the only thing is the preauthorization was charged,so it's tying up $543 on my CC,plus the $544 I spent at Best Buy.
I called Apple and they are suppose to get back with me in 24hrs,so they can fax my bank and get the Authorization taken off.
But anyways,I just got it,haven't even had a chance to take it out of the box yet.

Since you paid trough the online store you wont have any problem!

I have that thought every time I head to the underground parking after making a large purchase at the Apple Store. I guess its one of those "you never know" thoughts.

I picked up my 16GB Silver iPad Air earlier this afternoon at Best Buy. After using it throughout the day, I hate to admit it, but I'm strongly contemplating taking it back (BBY has a 15 day return policy on iPads) and getting a refund for an iPad mini w/ Retina display, once it releases later this month (despite the potential supply shortages). Hear me out, please read the following two paragraphs before flaming me and it will all make sense. Capiche?

DON'T get me wrong, it an excellent 10" tablet. The best I've used bar-none. I'm coming from an iPad 2 and it's leaps and bounds better in terms of processing speed, weight, bezel reduction, etc. I just don't feel that it fits into my setup very well. I own a 27" iMac and an 11" MacBook Air. I feel like the iPad Air would overlap a lot with my 11" MacBook Air and unfortunately, since I'm a college student (CIS major - need a physical keyboard, desktop OS, and virtualization for programming), the 11" MacBook Air takes priority in my life, unfortunately.

HOWEVER, if you don't feel the need for a the things I mentioned above, go for it. You won't regret it. I just feel like a rMini will fit better into my personal setup but our needs are all different. The iPad Air is a damned good product, it just overlaps too much with other products in my setup that are more important.

True, good point. ;)

I wasn't losing my mind over it, just crossed my mind for a wee spate. Plus I'm only 5"3" & 100lbs. It would be far too easy if someone had wanted to snatch it. But it's home safe and sound & that's all I care about.

Nah... I hear you. I'm only an inch taller than you and not much heavier. :)

I got really paranoid when I left with 3 iPhones on launch day.

Not worried this year, but when I went to pick up my iPad 3 on launch day I actually took another bag to put the new iPad in because of this concern. LOL There was a guard on duty in the store that day so maybe this worry is not so far fetched.

ordered at 3:05 am for in store pick up, white 16gb wifi model, but later cancelled and picked one up at walmart for $479 while i was shopping at 9am this morning :D:D

How long does a instore pick take to process? I ordered my iPad Air 16GB and 32 GB at 12PM and its 7PM and still no email when to pick it up.

That's a brilliant idea. :) Had I not been so bleary eyed from staying up late to order, I might have thought of that.

It's not that far-fetched. Would be thieves paying attention to Apple launch days could scope them out for easy grab & runs. Even if there had been a guard at my local Apple store, it's still down 2 escalator levels to where I parked. If the thieves worked in teams, that's where they could nab someone. 'Course parking garages with cameras might put a crimp in that plan. ;)

If you guys are talking about the ShopDiscover credit... it specifically says that it is not valid on the iPad Air.

Also, my T-Mobile iPad Air just shipped :D

Discover site didn't say that when I ordered at 3:20am. I checked to make sure. The iPad air exclusion was added later today.

The next catch is that it says "Offer is not valid in combination with any offers found outside ShopDiscover"

But if both of those were added after you did your order, then you should definitely get 10% back for it.

Walked into Best Buy around 7 pm and walked out with mine. They had several of all models. Not sure if that means Apple had ample supply or they are not selling as well as hoped. I do know many folks holding out for retina mini coming later in Nov.

Got my space grey wifi model at best buy near 8pm. Seemed to have plenty in stock!

This is the first iPad I've had since the original that I ordered on launch as well. Very happy with it so far!
