You can but the T-mobile/Unlocked one.
Ended up doing similar, on the Apple store it would not verify correctly with AT&T, I was eventually able to log onto the AT&T store, so I ordered from there instead.

I was getting the same AT&T errors as you on apple.com. Finally gave up and ordered through AT&T directly but the ship times are so much longer

By calling (800) 275-2273 (requires you to run a remote diagnostic and provide proof of purchase)
