I originally was not a fan of ordering online, but unfortunately I really didn't have a choice.

If this "strain" on supply is completely fabricated, then Apple should be ashamed of themselves. They are making people who plonked down their hard-earned money, to order ahead of the crowd, have to wait. Why not send them out faster, and create your publicity through tangible objects?

However if the strain is indeed real, Apple needs to learn from this problem. People who order on opening day (or even weekend for that matter) should not have to wait weeks for a phone. They truly must have made only a handful's worth of the phone! If they haven't noticed, opening day/weekend sales number are on the rise.

THIS!!!!!!! Why do the people who woke up and paid first get their phones last? We paid for something that we have to wait for but the people who simply woke up at 6 and went to the store paid later than we did and received a phone in hand.

yesss, mine is there too. Lets keep an eye on UPS99

This is absolutely ridiculous... no, my usual nerd vigil (reloading the UPS tracking page) isn't enough anymore, now I'm bloody watching the plane flight! :D

Looks like my 64GB Gold ATT is on today's plane to Anchorage, due to arrive in 5 hours.

UPS tracking shows delivery by Thursday, but the other tracking posts on here look like it goes out for delivery the day after Anchorage... which would be Wednesday for me.

I need to stop. But I can't!

Date Confusions

I ordered my Silver 64GB 5S (AT&T) about 20 minutes after the online store started allowing orders. When I tried at first to order thru the Apple Store App on my iPad, the system kept trying to get me to sign up for a new/different voice plan. I'm on an old no-longer-available 450 minute family plan and did not want to migrate to the more expensive family plans available now, so I opted to stop the ordering process and order the phone thru AT&T's website. I did so with no problems are requests from the ordering system for me to alter my plan. When I got my order notification it showed an estimated ship date of "Oct 21-Oct 25"! I was shocked that I'd have to wait more than a month to get a phone when I ordered so early on. Well, I got notification yesterday from AT&T that the phone shipped and I would receive it tonight. I was pleasantly surprised by that and relieved that my fragile patience wouldn't be tested after all! :)

Looking forward to going home tonight after work!! :D

Ive been meaning to bring my 5 in for an applecare replacement (issues with touchscreen and siri mic not always hearing me). Can i upgrade to a 5s if I pay the difference?

I placed my order for an AT&T 16GB Space Grey 5s a couple minutes after online ordering opened up through the iPhone Apple Store app. My iPhone is now on the truck out for delivery! I used standard shipping.

Same thing happened to a friend at work - His showed something like 3 weeks after he ordered from ATT (at around 8am Friday morning), and he ended up receiving it yesterday! His is the 16GB Silver.

It is niiiice! I checked out the fingerprint sensor and the camera. The sensor works fast - it's almost like it's not there. Nobody else's fingerprint worked (we all tried, and it would just pop up a message reading "try again, sucker!"). OK, not the sucker part...

I'm really looking forward to that, since I drive a lot for work, and it is kind of troublesome entering a 6-digit passcode every time I need my phone for something. Plus, we have a pretty strict no texting law here in California (the way that law has panned out is that if you are holding the phone in your hand, you are considered to be texting and you get a pricey ticket). I have a phone stand that mounts in my CD player slot, so now all I'll have to do is touch the home button.

The new camera is a noticeable improvement, especially the flash. I'll actually use the flash on this one, it looks quite nice.

Overall, the phone is very responsive too. This is going to be a huge upgrade over my current 4s that I've had for the last two years!

Ordered the att iphone 5s space gray 32gb today from att.com but im sure it will be at least 2 weeks before i get it.

For Your Entertainment

Hey folks, I registered just to share my story regarding the in-store pickup option.

I'm in New York City, and ordered my gray 16gb T-mobile 5S on Saturday the 21st. Well, when the in-store pickup option opened up I decided to do that, but called up Apple to make sure they hadn't charged my card and I had enough money to place the order.

Well, while on the phone with them they said I'd have to cancel my order to go through with changing to in-store pickup. The girl went ahead and cancelled my order, then suddenly my call disconnected!!

I decided to go ahead and buy it since my order was cancelled but boom, in the literally 4 minutes I spent on the phone with them, all the in-store pickups were gone!!

Now I ordered again but it just says October shipping.

:(

Um, there are new shipments arriving to stores every day, check the Apple online store to see which stores in the city are getting phones.

They took the in-store pickup option away ;_;

I think I'll get mine next year. Just in time for the iphone 6. In case you can't tell, the anxiety is killing me lol.

Nope. Apple does not do this. We will read more of these type of posts in the near future I bet. Last year from the iphone 4s owners, some tried the same to get the iphone 5 by either stating they would pay the difference and others by having issues (legit or self inflected) and did not work. ;)

Oh the outrage. You're comparing apples to oranges.

Sorry if this is a terrible place to put this, but those (if any) who have recently, not on opening day, bought the 5s in store , where did you find it? Apple store? Best buy?

So tempted to cancel my order on Apple.com and start walking into different stores to see if they have any...

I'm in the opposite situation. We don't have an Apple store in my city (relatively large city in Germany).

I called before the 20th, and my local Apple reseller (they only sell Apple stuff) said they'd have some. Turned out they were wrong; lots of people waited only to go home disappointed.

So when I got back, I called up a few more stores, and they all said the same thing - come back on 25.09 (i.e. tomorrow).

So I pre-ordered a device from a large electronics chain here (MediaMarkt - equivalent in size to Best Buy), whose website also listed 25.09.

Now they've just sent out emails saying that they won't be able to fulfill those orders because they haven't got any shipments. Called up and they confirmed there's no way I'm getting my 5S tomorrow. In fact, they said that the earliest they've been told to expect them is in 3-4 weeks time. They're saying that Apple is keeping all the stock for their own stores.

The only stores in the entire city who have iPhone 5Ses are the carrier shops. If you're willing to take out a contract, you could stroll in to town right now and pick one up on T-Mobile or Vodafone, no trouble.

Every other shop has to wait a month. Like I said, I ordered on the 20th and still have no idea when I'll be able to pick mine up.

I'm considering cancelling my order and getting it from Apple online instead. The only thing that's stopping me is that Apple's vague waiting time isn't much better, and the stores themselves have absolutely no idea when they might get a shipment.

This is pretty poor customer service. This is the kind of thing Apple should be apologising about; not the low stock per-se, but the total lack of information. My city is actually a major logistics centre; we're bang in the middle of Europe. I'm totally shocked about this situation.

i am in the same group, and still stuck at processing. i got my order confirmation at 3:05 CST, for 2 t-mobile 16gb gold.

what are the order times for the people stuck in October group?

Well I'm in the t-mobile 7-10 day group and its still "prossssssessing"

Honestly when you think about it, the "October" date is quite cowardly... especially from a large company like Apple.

They should be guaranteeing week by week (if not daily) shipments out of China. Why are online orders made in September, possibly being lumped with those in October.

I expect Apple to ship my phone in a timely fashion. I did not order my iPhone in September, for it to potentially arrive at the end of October.

Because the September orders went through existing stock and planned production units for September deliveries.
