My 64GB gold AT&T phone ordered at 3:05 am EDT just changed to Preparing for Shipment. The original estimate was 7-10 days (Delivery by 10/8-10/11)

I like iOS7, but I'm just a fond of being able to root my own phone and have the whole platform open to me too.
 
It seems that my 64GB (GOLD) iPhone 5S shipped (or will ship) today. I selected overnight shipping so hopefully I get tracking information soon and it's delivered tomorrow. I ordered at 12AM on release day.

Seeing as all models at the time were listed as "October", I thought I might as well order the "hot favourite".

Now that the shipping date still remains ambiguous and inconclusive, I'm not sure what I should do. Should I keep my online order, and tough it out? Or take the opportunity to get a phone now?

Thanks for your input!

P.S. I'm not biased towards either colour... I just want to know whether I should take this golden opportunity (no pun intended) to get a phone, or continue to hold steady on the Gold 5s.

If color doesn't matter to you and you can get a 64GB version locally, get it now. Why wait a few more weeks if color doesn't really matter to you? And you will be waiting weeks.
 
Any one who ordered from the att launch who's sim went from back ordered to processing get an email with shipping info yet??

Did you order through ATT? If so mine shows no tracking number on the computer but on my ATT app on my phone it shows the tracking number. Earlier in the day the tracking number didn't have any info yet but now it does. Hope this helps :)

On my way to the grocery store and decided to pop into Best Buy just to check. They happened to have a couple of space grey 32GB models...just what I wanted.

Gave me $145 for my 16GB iPhone 4. I know I could have got a bit more on CL or eBay...but this was too easy and convenient.

So... if my phone was to enter "preparing for shipping", later tonight or tomorrow, will it leave China before the weekend?
 
I sure don't know how I got so lucky. Tried ordering through Apple at 12:01 on 9/20 but had problems with "seeing" my AT&T account so got frustrated and figured I'd wait a few weeks. Got up Sunday, 9/22, and decided I did want it now so ordered 1ea 64gb gold and 1ea 64gb slate/black through AT&T account. Initial shipping indicated Oct. 10th for black and Oct. 30th for gold. My immense surprise when I got an email from them on 9/23 saying both phones had shipped!!!! Got them on the 24th, shipped from Texas and not China so guess they were some of the first made. I am a very happy camper with AT&T and my phones. :D
 
Well...i was tired of the games and waiting so I called around and got a 16GB Black 5s.No more waiting. Good luck everyone

I ordered on the 20th too, and I got the same delivery date, but mine still processing :/
 
Ordered right at 12:01 9/20 silver 64gb but Telus isn't shipping until oct 4-9 with 1-3 shipping days on top. Of that :(

I first ordered my iphone from apple on 9/21 and got the dreaded "October" shipping date. I decided to cancel apple and just order from AT&T. So yesterday 9/25, I put in my order for a silver 5S 64GB. They gave a date of October 28-November 5. *sigh*

Well, today they sent me an email saying my iphone 5S has "shipped" with the USPS tracking number. Last time I checked (an hour ago) my iphone had just left Memphis TN.

I'm confused. Am I insanely lucky? I am apparently getting my iphone in the same batch as those that had ordered in the wee hours on the 20th.

I hope it's not too good to be true. I would love to be toting my new baby around at the Patriots game Sunday night at the Dome!!!

Man, all these surprise feel-good stories... makes me think that some of us just seem to have a perpetual dark cloud over us.
 
Decided to keep my gold verizon 64gb I love it. Can't wait to go to apple store and get my case and a back zagg

AT&T has been waaaay overstating shipping. You'll have yours soon!
