Everyone didn't believe me when I said stores would be aplenty in stock

Well, I went to the Verizon store at 3:30 PM and they had tons of iPhones in every color (except gold of course)

I am currently enjoying my new iPhone 5s! How about you guys?

I preordered 3 of them(all 2 year renewals) went at lunch and got it :)

2 space greys and 1 gold.

Nice! Congrats!

Fingerprint sensor works amazing, it didn't take my finger the first few times, but I kept using my finger and it's been working every single time now

I added both my thumbs. I tried it with my left hand and it didn't work. So i put my left thumb and now it works with either

I really like it and hope that the new ipads have the finger sensor. If they do I'll get one.

High five! We told them!

Do apple stores have the new phones on display?

Yes

Went to Bestbuy at 10am this morning and walked out with my new 5s 64gb space grey. Very happy camper.

Side note: That was the only model they had available for AT&T.

Lol my Best Buy had 0 for ATT

Well, gold is out of stock everywhere as Apple wants it to be hyped up

No, Gold is out of stock because Apple has to make decisions about which countries are going to buy which models. If the blogs discussing Asia's affinity for Gold products are correct, then it wouldn't surprise me at all if they got more gold models and we got fewer.

You are right Verizon has gone down hill rapidly in the past year. I dont get good speeds in the Wall St area.

Yea it really sucks . Even in Brooklyn the unlimited data is kind of useless since when info have good signal it seems they throttle and don't say because my hulu netflix etc always buffer, frustrating ..

I think they under produced it on purpose to make people want gold more

Bad troll attempt. I just realized I messed the screenshot up. I forgot to take out "no sig required". Everyone knows sig is required lol

I never troll but had to give a shot for fun. Sorry peeps!

I'm pissed I should've ordered it off of the app the website was down until 3:03

I think they under produced it on purpose to make people want gold more

So let's do an economic thought experiment here.

I'm apple, i'm prepping to launch a new smartphone I know will have massive appeal globally. I'm not 100% sure what colors will be the most popular, but I know from surveys i've done in various countries that I can get some idea of what to produce.

a) I could produce everything equally (1/3rd each) and distribute equally (every country gets 1/3rd each).

a.1) I could produce everything in the max capacity possible and end up with higher proportions of some colors because they are easier to produce

b) I could look at the data i've gathered and decide that certain countries will purchase more of X color and give them a higher portion of that in order to sell out fastest.

c) I could underproduce/underdistribute a color I don't think people will want in order to artificially drive up sales of that color due to a perceived scarcity.

d) I could underproduce/underdistribute a color people will like in order to artificially drive up already high demand

It seems to me that since many, many people are discussing how badly they want gold, not that it's scarce but that it's the one they lined up for, and that many observers have said the Gold color was aimed at an Asian market that likes Gold products, that it would make very little sense for Apple to artificially hold back gold units for no other reason than to increase a demand for something that already exists.

More likely is that they gave Asia more Gold units because Asia likes Gold units, and more likely than that is that it was harder to produce Gold for some reason (or they didn't find out about the demand for it until after production had started).

Of all of the possibilities, the chance that they made you wait for gold just to make you want it more is, in my mind, insanely unlikely.

Apple themselves said today (based on mr story) that apple has asked more gold phones than originally order to the manufacturers to try to satisfy the demand that they didn't realize existed for gold.

I went to my local Apple Store (Columbus, OH) at 5:30pm. I was about 10th in line. I got a Verizon 16gb Space/Gray. All other colors were sold out. The gold sold out before noon. They said there were quite a few in stock at opening. Silver lasted late into the afternoon.

They will have all colors at opening tomorrow - they had multiple shipments today, but some are labeled with tomorrow's date.

I'm liking the Space/Gray. I sold my i5 on Gazelle for $325. Made it all worth it for the fingerprint sensor alone!

Verizon wireless.com orders say that it will ship before Oct 21.....is this a legit estimate or can we expect them sooner?

Our iPhones are already in the U.S as you can see on the picture

This app retrieves info about your order. If you just copy your order number from apple email or website, and then open the app, it detects your apple order details automatically and prompts you to save and track it. I use it every year.
So apple wanna make it seem like it is coming from china lol, when in fact it's here already; at least for the first batch or orders
