I've had an interesting journey toward my iPhone 6. Was up at 3 a.m. Friday morning. I wanted a 6 Plus, even though it was probably too big for my hand, but by the time the Apple Store app started selling the phones, the 6 Plus was sold out and the only Sprint version of the 6 that was available to buy was the 16 GB silver model. I pre-ordered that because I'm impatient and didn't want to wait weeks for an iPhone, even if it meant getting a model I didn't want. I could always try taking it back within 14 days for a different model.
Then, about a half hour later, every model of the 6 was available. I couldn't order the 64 GB Space Gray version of the 6, which was originally the amount of storage and color I wanted, because I had already used my upgrade on the 16 GB Silver model and the Apple Store website kept displaying an error when I tried to cancel it. Plus, Apple had already taken the full amount of the 16 GB iPhone 6 out of my bank account.
I decided to go to sleep and would try again later Friday, assuming traffic to the Apple Store's website would slow down. No dice. Kept getting the error message when I tried to cancel the order until it FINALLY worked after refreshing the "Cancel" link every few seconds.
I then ordered the 64 GB Space Gray iPhone 6. Thought it went through, but when I checked my order status a few hours later, it said my payment was declined. Called my bank. The payment was blocked as fraudulent. (Same thing happened when I ordered my MacBook Pro a few months ago.)
Called my bank and got that cleared up. Tried to run the payment again on the Apple Store website, and surprise ... kept getting the same error message I got when I tried to cancel the 16 GB Silver model.
After sneaking out of the office to call Apple and being on hold for more than an hour, the payment magically went through and now I have a 64 GB Space Gray iPhone 6 through Sprint on my way Friday.
It's now showing as Preparing for Shipment and due on Friday, and I've already found the tracking information on UPS, but the charge for the phone has been removed from my bank account. The full amount was originally taken from my bank instantly after my second attempt to pay for it. Guess it will come back out when it ships.
