Long time Linux and Windows convert -> 15" i5!
Picked up my 15" i5 tonight. Long time Windows and Linux user. My 17" Dell laptop was 4 years old, huge, and kind of slow, even with a new load of Win 7 prof. Also, just sort of sick of windows and maintaining it, wanted something more Linux like. Was continually awed by my wifes 2 year old white Macbook, that she could open the lid and be connected to wifi and working in about 3 seconds. My laptop would take forever to resume from suspend of hibernate.
I would have gladly purchased the 13" if it was not for the core 2 duo. Didn't want to get a processor so near it's end of life, even though it performs well for what it is. Plus, I'll do a fair bit of video encoding, and maybe play Starcraft II if I ever get some free time, so the i5 was worth it to me.
Getting used to the Mac OS. Weird to me so far that windows can only be resized by grabbing the lower right corner. Also, need to figure out easy way to know what programs and apps are running, ala Windows or Linux task bar. (ahhh... just discovered F3 key.. Awesome!!!!)
Miss the feature in Win 7 (and sort of Linux) of dragging a window to the right or left edge of the screen and have it snap to half the screen width. Any trick like this for mac?. Just need to get more used to it and learn the tricks/shortcuts. Miss home/end keys, keep hitting the volume lol.
Now, copying my music photos from external drive into my mac user folder. Then try and setup iTunes, and get my iPhone syncing there instead of old Dell laptop. Fun!
