My mbpro is set to arrive tomorrow. At least I am counting on it to arrive tomorrow. Only problem is the last time that it got updated was on Monday aug 30 where it said departure scan from Ontario. Cocord to be more precise.

It is coming to Vancouver via ground shopping. Is it supposed to take 3 days in transit.

I want my MacBook pro tomorrow :(

This really is not fair at all!
:(
Nick...ours should be in the same van right?
orrr at least should be delivered on the same day?
:confused::confused::confused:

How long did you have to wait for the status to come up with that all important tracking info?

WHAT?!
how did that work out?

YAY that it's out :(

I went in to my local apple store and ordered it online with one of the apple staff. He said he would chase up the order so it gets sent out as a priority. Not sure if he actually did or not but either way it was delivered yesterday and i'm absolutely loving my new MBP.

was it custom configured?

Mine has said out for delivery all day. I'm out and my parents have said they'll teXT9 me when it comes, so I'm guessing nothing yet.

Have you had any updates?

Edit: just got the message from my dad - "the eagle has landed". Haha I can't wait to get home :D

Having read the posts here about people waiting for MBP deliveries, is it better to get one from an Apple Store? I asked at my local one and they said they have plenty of stock in store. I'd be getting a base model 15 inch.

If you just want a basic MBP w/o upgrades in screen, HD, etc, then an Apple store is jsut fine. some stores offer some upgrades. so it ocmes down to what you want.

I ordered mine at the local shop on Thursday and it came in on the following Tuesday. There was some wheeling and dealing and I received a free card for their classes ($100 value) and they installed the iWorks for the online price of $49 instead of the $79.

I've always ordered laptops online so it was fun to do it face to face and I look forward to the classes in person too. They do have free classes but they have ones above the basic ones. Which I really need as I've been on a PC for 12 years and can't seem to get that brainwashing repaired:eek:

Yeah it would be the base unit, no modifications. They don't insist you open the box/switch it on in store do they? Silly question but I want to open it up at home.

I'm waiting to get paid, hopefully I'll be able to order before the 7th September.
I don't want to miss the iPod Touch offer as I'm going to sell it off eBay straight away and buy a nice set of speakers. Hopefully I could do all this before going back to Uni in 2 weeks.

Yours arrived finally. Enjoy your eagle :)

So I just managed to get a brand new 13" MacBook Pro for $1000 with tax (13%) and Microsoft Office 2008 Mac from Futureshop. Good deal or not? I'm really hestitant since it's C2D but it's mostly going to be used for Word, Excel, Powerpoint, web browsing and the occasional Sims 3 play.

Long time Linux and Windows convert -> 15" i5!

Picked up my 15" i5 tonight. Long time Windows and Linux user. My 17" Dell laptop was 4 years old, huge, and kind of slow, even with a new load of Win 7 prof. Also, just sort of sick of windows and maintaining it, wanted something more Linux like. Was continually awed by my wifes 2 year old white Macbook, that she could open the lid and be connected to wifi and working in about 3 seconds. My laptop would take forever to resume from suspend of hibernate.

I would have gladly purchased the 13" if it was not for the core 2 duo. Didn't want to get a processor so near it's end of life, even though it performs well for what it is. Plus, I'll do a fair bit of video encoding, and maybe play Starcraft II if I ever get some free time, so the i5 was worth it to me.

Getting used to the Mac OS. Weird to me so far that windows can only be resized by grabbing the lower right corner. Also, need to figure out easy way to know what programs and apps are running, ala Windows or Linux task bar. (ahhh... just discovered F3 key.. Awesome!!!!)

Miss the feature in Win 7 (and sort of Linux) of dragging a window to the right or left edge of the screen and have it snap to half the screen width. Any trick like this for mac?. Just need to get more used to it and learn the tricks/shortcuts. Miss home/end keys, keep hitting the volume lol.

Now, copying my music photos from external drive into my mac user folder. Then try and setup iTunes, and get my iPhone syncing there instead of old Dell laptop. Fun!

Finally!!

WooHoo! Finally!! Enjoy it Nick! Hope your soul mate, i-a-v-1, is in the same boat! :D:apple:

Sharp laptop that's worth the $

Hey...I got the base 15" model as well just yesterday + the free 8GB iPod touch. It's my first laptop and I'm just about doing the exact same things as you are...getting to know the new OS!

It's been fun syncing my iPhone and learning a little bit each moment. I hope the learning curve isn't steep since I have 1st year university in a week.

I'm loving this...so easy when you learn the tricks :D

Any good sites that give you a quick run through everything you need to know to make the window user at home?

Thanks!
