Finally bit the bullet and ordered my new computer on Friday. Gave my HP laptop that I got in February to my brother who went to college last week. I chose the MacBook Pro instead of the MacBook mainly because of the lighted keyboard and the aluminum exterior as opposed to the white plastic. Choosing between the 13 and 15 inch models was difficult as I've been using 15 inch laptops for years but price difference between the two helped make that decision easier. I'm very stoked. Hopefully it will be here by the end of the week.

I know it's boring but just another update! It's now down as 'handing over to final courier'. Hopefully when I wake up I'll have a tracking number!

Haven't been this excited since the n64 Christmas in the 90s!!!!!!!

Seems like a lot of people are upgrading to the 7200rpm harddrive. Is it worth it to get it? I only ordered mine with the glossy hi-res screen.

I doubt its worth it - the gain in RPM was more significant a few years back. HDD manufacturers and end users find that higher boost in HDD RAM, up from 16MB to 32/48/64MB is more significant on a 5400rpm HDD, than having a 16MB 7200rpm drive. I'm unsure what RAM these HDD have.

I say keep the money for now … and in a few months get an SSD of about 250-300GB in size … THAT my friend will get you HOT-Ta-TROTT  .

I'm LOVING that so many ppl here are ordering and enjoying their MacBook Pro's and new to the Mac. I'm seriously loving my al_umb, but I know I'll need to upgrade this holiday season or Spring 2011. The 13" seriously needs to have the Corei5 even in ULV form would be nice and with 320M Apple can maintain battery performance. 8GB RAM would be a benefit from my 4GB currently.

This test seems to show a very noticeable difference in performance. Plus the upgrade is only £34 (with educational discount).

Guys,

Anyone in the UK who has already got there laptop would you mind posting the page of tracking info im getting quite confused here how it goes lol.

Mine states Shipped and on its way to final Destination but thats it :s.

Gah was hoping for some sort of progress this morning. Still the dreaded "Not yet shipped". :(

My shipment

Mine still hasn't shipped yet and the funny thing is, i live like 15 minutes away from apple HQ here in silicon valley. I'm debating whether I should call them and ask if I could pick up directly from the warehouse haha. BMW offers a similar experience where one picks up their optioned out BMW model (whichever one it may be) and picks it up directly from the factory. You get to drive it around and inspect it before it is shipped to your home. They also give you a tour of the factory itself and I THINK all expenses minus food is paid for... Sort of neat if you ask me :D I believe it's called "European Delivery".

The UPS page or the Apple page?

Apple page :(.

Just got a email as well saying

"We are happy to advise you that your order is now in transit.
For your convenience you will receive your products in one single delivery.
Your items are shipping from different locations and will be merged together before delivery.
Once your order has merged, your Order Status will be updated with carrier details and tracking information. Please allow up to 5 business days for the online Order Status to be updated."

So let me guess so now that it has to be merge with a backpack its going to delay it further lol.

I got that same email last Thursday! As I gather, my package is now as one and currently flying from Holland to the UK.

Join the club!!!

I wasn't told about the free printer :(

Just ordered a 15" 2.53 from the Refurb Store. I went back and forth from eBay to Apple. There weren't many on the MacRumors Forums for sale. I finally decided it better to spend the $100 or so difference to get a warrantied laptop.

She'll be replacing my trusty G4 Powerbook. Still runs great, just need a little more brightness for the old eyes. It will be a hand-me-down for the kids (and will be kept in one room on a desk for their use).

Where did it say it gives you a free printer? I thought they just give you a small discount on a already expensive one ...

Mine now says shipped. :D

Will I be able to track it's status on the apple order page now or do I need to start using the UPS site?

Maybe it's for the Education store only, but there is a printer rebate of upto £70 so I picked the HP one for £69.95, although there are some wireless ones for more. You pay the whole amount then claim back.

Wow congrats dude, :).

Did you get email updates or were you just frantically clicking refresh on apple tracking details page lol

I just kept refreshing the page. I knew it was in the air yesterday on the way to the UK so it wouldn't be long until I had a tracking number.

Am now sitting downstairs and waiting impatiently!!

Well my package is in Cologne (which seems fast!). However it now says my package has experienced an "exception". It says that could affect my delivery date. Sould I be worried? In the package process it says:

"PACKAGE DATA PROCESSED BY BROKERAGE. WAITING FOR CLEARANCE"

Ok guys where are you getting all this detailed info lol all i have is :

Carrier Tracking Number
In transit to final destination - carrier details to be updated shortly.
