Ordered a refurbished 27" iMac i7 3.5GHz with 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, and 2GB 775M graphics from the Apple Store to replace my 2009 iMac i7 2.8GHz. I really wanted the 4GB Graphics in the new iMac, but in the refurb department, you gotta take what you can get.

After getting the iMac and checking Apple System Profiler, I discovered my new iMac has the 4GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M graphics! This configuration would have been over $500 more had I placed a CTO from Apple. I'm a happy man! :D

I bought the exact same spec'ed computer from the refurb store almost 2 weeks ago. It also had the 4GB card installed, instead of the listed 2GB.
After a day and a half the computer went completely dead... I returned it and am still waiting for a refund.

I hope you have better days with it.

I just ordernd the following setup

iMac 27"
3.5GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz
8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2X4GB
512GB Flash Storage
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4GB GDDR5
Apple Magic Mouse
Apple Wireless Keyboard (Arabic) & User’s Guide (Arabic)
Final Cut Pro X
Adobe® Photoshop® CS6 Extended Student and Teacher Edition Bundle

I'm looking forward to start editing videos and pictures on the iMac! Currently I'm using a late 2012 MacBook Air 8GB/128GB SSD/ i5 for the same, but I wanted more screen estate and computing power.

The RAM will be upgraded afterwards, no need to pay extreme prices for RAM. I will locate it and put it in myself.

Can someone more or less say, how much faster the iMac will be compared to my Air?

Oh, the price for the above is Euro 2,470.00 or US$ 3.425.00!

Edit: A little concerned about if Adobe will accept my language course for the student discount...

Long processing items time

I ordered my iMac last Tuesday 4th, around mid-afternoon, they gave me a dispatch of 2-4 business days. The item is still in the processing items stage and it's been almost 5 business days since I placed the order, and it hasn't even changed the delivery estimate.

I've previous ordered an iPhone, and Macbook Air from the online store, and both shipped before the maximum estimate from China to the UAE. Is anyone else experiencing any delays in delivery?

I understand all sorts can happen and cause delays, so that isn't a problem. Just really need to know the actual or better estimated delivery date so I can be sure to be at home and not at work, but need to give advance notice to my company.

Just ordered the 3.2 GHz 27" iMac. Pretty insane.

Upgraded to 16GB RAM, 1TB fusion drive. I chose the Vesa mounted option, and I also ordered the Bretford mount.

Still can't believe I just did that. Excited.

congrats, but you should of opted for after market ram for the 180 spent you on the upgrade. You could of bought a 16gb kit 2x8gb and raised your total memory to 24gb 2x4gb & 2x8gb rather than 16gb 4x4gb from apple. Beside that your going to get a great machine i personally love the fusion drive

When you order the iMac from Apple with 16 GB of ram it is 2 x 8 GB.

Revised Ship Date

Just got a revised ship date, stating that the "The demand for the product you ordered has been higher than anticipated."

Only going to take about an extra week, so not too bad.

The UK shipping for most stuff apart from the standard spec has changed from 2-4 days to 4-6 or even 5-7 days, depending on options.

did not know that but aftermarket is always the way to go

Depends. I personally went with the 16 GB upgrade from Apple because the cost was inline with OWC and Crucial, I didn't want to deal with the 2 x 4 GB sticks, and now easier to make the jump to 32 GB if it ever becomes necessary.

I think people forget apple is on a fast track to making ram non upgradable look at the MacBook Pro and the 21 iMac. So if your pay the extra @$60 for the apple 16gb over aftermarket you get AppleCare protected ram. So down the line if Apple replaces your iMac it could potentially be with a iMac with non upgradable ram. Also as your mentioned if you plan to go to a full 32gb ram your won't be stuck with two 4gb sticks. From what I've seen a 32gb kit is @$320-340. So your going to pay the same but at least getting a 16gb apple care protected iMac. Which is reassuring seeing apples pattern.

Totally agree

My new iMac 27" 3.5GHz

Just received my new iMac, 27" 3.5GHz Core I7 with NVIDIA GTX 780M and 1TB SSD. Great machine and have external Lacie Thunderbolt SSD drive. This is a great computer and paid a bit more than i did for my first Apple II+ so many years ago. My two regrets: That I did not buy Apple stock when I first bought that Apple II+ and that I sold that II+ to purchase an IBM PC when they first came out. Stayed Windows until three years ago after my son convinced me to switch to Mac which he used in college. You have to admit, they ,ake fine products betwene my iMac, my iPad, my Iphone and my MacBook Pro!

DHL Express

How long from receiving your dispatch notices from Apple did it take to show up on DHL tracking? I can remember on my previous order it was pretty much within the hour, but this time it's been a good 15+ hours and still nothing.

Three or four days and it was actually received a day before the day I was told it would arrive. Very happy all around. Bill

I contacted Apple via email, and their response was that when you first receive your dispatch notification it doesn't mean it's left with DHL yet, just means they are waiting for DHL to pickup the package, then I will receive a DHL tracking number.

This is the first time they've sent me something from Ireland instead of China; it's definitely the slowest order I've had from Apple. But still far better than most deliveries I've had from various other companies to ship here.

Should be getting my 27" imac and bretford mount tomorrow! I'll post some pics over in the gallery once I've set it all up.

Estimated delivery was 23rd to 26th of March, then just this morning I finally received a DHL tracking number, and they are estimating delivery by tomorrow on the 20th!

New 27inch iMac

Replacing a 2011 iMac, i7.

Went to local Apple store and picked up...

27inch iMac, 27 inch, 780 4GB, 3TB Fusion, 16 gig of Ram. I was surprised they had that config in stock.

I'm hopeful it will ship out tomorrow and have it next week.

The only thing different than what's shown on the order is that I have 16GB of 1866 Corsair RAM sitting on the coffee table waiting.

-Edit: Before the machine arrives I did some more reading and ended up sending back the Corsair Vengeance 16GB 1866MHz 1.5v RAM and purchasing 32GB Crucial Ballistix 1866 MHz 1.35v

Just got a late 2009 27" iMac. This thing is beautiful! I love it. Not the newest specs, but that's what my 15" Haswell rMBP is for. :)

This is going to be wonderful for watching movies in my room/school work.

new imac incoming

After months of trying to decide what to buy, switching between gaming window pc's to macbook pros to Imac's I finally decided on what I wanted.

I ordered the following last night:-

Imac 21.5inch (it will sit near a 42inch TV so the 27inch imac would be to much for one room)
upgraded to 3.1Ghz i7 (+ turbo Boost)
1tb Fusion hard drive
16Gb Ram
NVIDIA GeForce GT750M 1GB GDDR5

£1778.99

Due to be delivered 31st March to 2nd April.

Im so excited. Iv been running a base model 2010 macbook pro since release which is now struggling, so the extra RAM and hard drive space will make a big difference.

I want to keep my macbook pro as a second screen, any ideas on the best way to run it??
Im trying to decide on what accessories to order, can anyone suggest anything? Im going to get the super drive in the next couple of days as CD's are still a necessity for me.

I just purchased a 27" 3.4GHz i5 GTX 775M iMac. Awesome so far. I will add an external SSD at some point and use that as the boot drive.

Does anyone have any experience with gaming using the 775M?
