I live in New York City. How long does it takes?

I'm in NYC as well. My experience with Apple has been that nothing ever arrives early once shipped. If they're telling you five business days, thats how long it will take. I ordered my new Mac last Tuesday night, shipped late Friday night, and it's scheduled to arrive this Friday. It's been sitting in Reno, NV since Sunday. Probably sit there until Thursday evening then catch a flight to Newark.

Haven't received my new iMac yet, but already regrretting the fact I ordered a wireless keyboard :(

;-)

Why are you disappointed? Don't use your numpad?

The wireless keyboard looks so much better and makes a cleaner setup. I thought the wireless keyboard ate batteries as quickly as the mouse, but now know that's not the case.

So...my credit card that I used to purchase my BTO iMac runs out before they are due to ship it. Do I have to cancel and order it all again? If it is the case then that's an extra 3 week's wait.

48 Hours in... Loving the new iMac!!

I started out using PC's running Windows, and have never had anything else. My Wife had always wanted to buy a Mac but I always resisted. Now, a mere 48 hours after picking up our first iMac ever, I'm 99% convinced that I'll probably never buy another PC again!! Everything is just so damn easy on the iMac... why have you guys been keeping this thing a secret for so long!! ;)

We got the 21.5" version with 2.7Ghz i5 Quad-Core CPU, 4 Gb RAM,
1TB drive, Magic Mouse + Trackpad.

Really didn't find the jump to OSX that hard either, everything seems to work very well with no issues so far. Hopefully this trend will continue!!:p

Welcome into the fold! You must be a fast learner. Most people's old habits take a bit longer than 48 hours to die. I trust you'll find even more things to like about the Mac as you keep using it. :)

You should listen to your wife more, dude :)

Congrats for the purchase, I still have to wait my BTO iMac to be arrived, what a painful weeks :(

Same here! Like the OP we've been using PC's for the last 15yrs and finally took the plunge on the base model 21.5" 2011 model iMac. Absolutely love this thing. Easy to use, fast, time machine works great with my 1TB external HDD. Transferring all my photos/music/movies was a breeze. The included software is lightyears better than what came with any of my windows boxes. I hated all the bloatware that came with a new PC. Only thing I regret is not switching sooner. These computers are great.

Call customer service and have them switch the payment to a new card.

Placed my order on Monday, checked the status just now, hasn't shipped yet... I know, I know, patience is a virtue, but I find myself wanting to call some friends that work for Apple and see if they can somehow speed up the process. :D

Can you tell I'm a bit excited to start putting my first Mac through its paces?

I'm also loving the new 27" iMac. My first reaction was -- wow! Beautiful design and excellent performance. Using Aperture is a breeze. My only regret is that (as others have commented) the screen seems just a bit warm compared to what I'm used to.

Welcome to the superior world of Apple - any other comment is redundant.

Just made the jump myself and I love it, too. Got a 27" and the screen is a thing of beauty.

My biggest issue has been adjusting to the mouse acceleration. I think I spent the first night adjusting settings and downloading preferance pane programs to adjust it to the feel I'm used to.

Just put parallels on it last night and it's pretty cool to have a windows 7 window running inside OSX.

Lol.
I tought and told the same thing the OP when I bought a MacBook Pro in 2009.
5 months later I've sold it and came back to Windows 7.

For whoever is complaining about bloatware in PCs, stop being retarded.
What companies do to their brand computers has nothing with Windows 7.

A retail Windows 7 DVD comes as fresh as a Mac OS X fresh install.

Sometimes I think people in this forum are 12 years old.

My experience with wireless keyboards is that batteries last a long time. I'm also thinking that it might be used from time to time with my iPad.

DHL should have a better idea of their logistics...when in doubt, speak to cust. service!

Yes DHL had the correct date, the apple date was just an estimation. Was waiting all morning not sure if it was coming today or not.

Stopped constantly looking out the window at the sound of any large vehicle after lunch, chilled out and just when I least expected got a bang at the door 2pm sharp!

Very happy, looks in perfect condition, just in the process of using migration assistant to transfer files from my external HDD. Should be all copied in the next couple if hours.

Can't wait to test out the encode speeds on this baby, and can finally use iMovie & iphoto again without the constant freezing.

Just arranged my iMac to be replaced because there is a dead pixel/dust (I'm not sure). Feeling a bit silly about it but it was bugging me.

I'm confused about people that say they switched back to Windows when the option is there to install it on the Mac also, seems like there be some trolls afoot.

Don't worry about it man, if you're anything like me, the only thing you'll miss from Windows is the constant shut down updates, DLL errors and complete system freezes.

Hope I don't come across as too much of a fanboy -- I still enjoy using Visual Studio on Windows, and it's great for things like 3DSMAX.
