Just got my 27" this morning, leaving to work before I can try it out.
Questions for people who have bought BTO before:

Is it strange that my iMac box says i5 Quad core when I ordered a i7? Do they just use a generic box for BTO?

Is there any kind of receipt usually in the box? No order slip, nothing. Just computer, and the box with the accessories.

I have an i7 iMac and my box says i5 too, my shipping receipt/paperwork was attached to out outside box in some clear plastic.

To the other poster, why would it affect after sale value? You just show the 'about this mac' window to prove it's i7, plus it says it's an i7 on the sticker/barcode on the box

To the OP are you saying the label is correct? What is not correct? Maybe show a picture.

Its just not acceptable for a new item to be packaged incorrectly. Obviously its up to you but I would insist on a discount or a properly packaged item. Its really how much hassle you are prepared to go through.

wow, really? the box and the base processor would be considered incorrect and not acceptable? In this time of everything made in China economy, there is very little that is labeled 100% correctly out there...

I don't care what is on the box...its what is inside the machine that counts

iMac´s packaging apparently not including custom BTO with intel-i7. All standard iMac comes with i5, and so does the packaging, it´s not a big deal. But you can look at spec label to know the detail.

Everything BTO should be included on the label, if spec on the label is wrong, likely the inside would be too.

But the intel core-i5 logo .. meh it´s just a logo, just don´t tear away the label and you can always use it for sale proof later.

Apple let me return the refurb 27" I bought in mid-April even though I was out of my 14 day return window so I could change to a 2011 refresh model. They even paid for the return 2-day shipping.

On Saturday went to the Apple Store and picked up a 27" 3.1ghz. Took a little more then 6 hours to restore my Time Machine backup that was 700GB in size via USB 2.0. This was the first time I've had to do a complete restore via Time Machine and I was very happy with how well it worked.

As a side note I was very impressed with Apple and Barclays. I sent my iMac back last Tuesday (5/10) and Apple received it and processed the return and refund on Thursday (5/12). By Friday (5/12) evening Barclays has processed the refund. Pretty fast turn around by both companies. I figured it would drag out for at least a week or longer.

So got my brand new 27" iMac today with 3.1Ghz, 8GB RAM, 2GB GPU, 1TB HD today! Gotta say, it's shiny and sexy! :D

Ordered a base 27" model from MacMall on eBay. MacMall sells it for $1650, and then I had a eBay 10% coupon (capped at $100 though), so I got it for $1550, no tax! I had been waiting for the back to school promotion, but this deal was just about as good and doesn't involve anymore waiting :p

So stoked to have that beautiful, massive screen...

Ordered today:

27" iMac Core I7
2GB graphics card
4 GB RAM
1 TB SATA Drive
Magic Trackpad

in addition, I ordered:

8 GB RAM from NewEgg
Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac (via work for $10)
Wacom Intuos4 Medium tablet (20% off)

Finally, I decides to buy iMac 27

After thinking about it for 2 weeks, I decided to buy it today. Just placed my order. I can't really wait for the SSD, not to mention it is not worth the money.

Apple said 2-4 business days, but in my delivery it says it will be delivered anywhere from May 25-27? Weird?

How long after you guys placed the order, you get it delivered right to your house? I used the free delivery.

i ordered the base 27'' model on 4th May and it's in my room the next afternoon..:)

PS: free shipping as well..

First time Mac owner here (I have owned a couple of iPods). Placed my order on the date that the new iMac was released. Got it last Thursday. Still working out the new interface, etc. but I generally love it.

Specs:
Mac OS X version 10.6.7
processor 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

I ordered my 27" iMac yesterday without SSD and choose the $35 upgraded shipping and it says mine will be delivered May 20 - May 24

You won't regret it! It takes a couple days to ship then it's just regular ground shipping. I think mine delivered the first day in the range they gave me

Ordered my iMac on 14th May, delivery was first stated by apple as 18th May
- on the apple website it now states estimated delivery 19th May
- yet when checking the tracking number on DHL delivery is still scheduled for tomorrow 18th May

Was looking to take tomorrow off work to wait for delivery, but I'm confused now, not sure what day it's coming! Who would have more reliable delivery date, apple or DHL?

Awesome deal in apple store

I recently got a refurbished 27 inch iMac 2.93 Ghz iMac from apple store for 1539. I was going to buy the 2011 base 27 inch model, but decided to buy it in the last minute. I was surprised to see it ranked 2nd in geekbench. I thought it would be 4th or 5th in the list. I would highly recommend this model. Its so much more faster compared to my 2008 MBP and the screen is simply great.

I also topped it up with 8 GB additional RAM from Gskill. I like to run some windows applications like matlab for scientific computing.

Picked up my iMac 21.5" (entry level) on Friday May 13th and I'm extremely happy.

I've owned Mac Minis for just over 3 years now and they've been rock solid machines.

I just need to find room on my desk to hook up a pair of old Bose speakers on the iMac.

Time to retire the last of my Windows machines.

My 27" iMac i5 2.7 Ghz showed up today. I am just waiting on the pressure wall and y splitter for power so that I can put my vertex 3 in.

Very quick impressions of my new iMac for those that missed it, the spec:

27" 2011 iMac
3.4 Ghz i7
4Gb Ram
2Gb 6970M
1Tb Hard drive

Loves
+ The screen: its big and bright, I only have a small monitor so it may seem a little too big but I really hope that I get used to it.
+ Speed when using Apps: once stuff is in the RAM its really quick, apps and task switching is super smooth, the Dashboard is great, I can have all of my productivity stuff open at once (Coda, Photoshop, Spotify) and a billion tabs open and it doesn't hitch up
+ The mouse: I've had alot of wireless mice in the past but this one works perfectly, super accurate, scrolling is buttery and swiping to go back and forth in the browser is totally rad.
+The speakers: Kinda surprised by this, the ones I have on the Core 2 Extreme iMac I use at work are pretty terrible, they're light and tinny with no bass or depth, these ones sound much improved, they have a really nice and wide soundstage, they aren't full of bass but they are sharp and crisp. Not really a love just a pleasantly surprised :D

Problems?
The only tiny niggle I have is the hard drive speed. Looking at it now, I think that grabbing the SSD would have really being the best idea. The regular drive is faster than pretty much any drive I've ever owned, but its very obvious where the bottlenecks are.

Really great, brilliant bit of kit, hopefully it'll get more spectacular when I add a thunderbolt drive in 6 months or so. But for the moment it does everything I want :)

Haven't received my new iMac yet, but already regretting the fact I ordered a wired keyboard :(

I need to go to an apple store to pick up another mac being repaired. If I bring the wired keyboard along unwrapped do you think they will swap it out for me?
Or should I just call apple once I receive it.
