Yeah mine is taking forever to ship out. Seems like everyone else was one day. Mine is 5 days at least now and that's if it ships tomorrow.

Mine took a long time to ship as well. Ordered last Tuesday, didn't ship until this Tuesday.
Ended up getting an email on Tuesday notifying me of a delay, and it shipped later that day.
The iMac is now waiting for me at my moms.
Don't worry, it'll get to you eventually!
Even with the delay, I still received it on the first day they originally estimated.

Wow, lead times of days, I ordered my IMac in Jakarta, 27", i7, 250SSD, 2TB SATA, 8GB RAM (2x4), ATI Radeon HD 5750 1GB graphics (got it a few months back) and it took 6 weeks to get it here from the source (where that may have been I do not know). Okay, a little bit specced up but lead times into Indonesia can be reasonably long if anything unusual.

Well worth the wait though and have enjoyed it ever since. Made the transition from Windows easily and am extremely happy with what is a very solid piece of gear that looks a million dollars sitting on the study desk at home and acts like a million dollars every time I boot it up.

Have been a PC man for 25 years, now heavily into the Mac lifestyle and wondering why I was a cynic for all of those years!! My appreciation for the Mac grows by the hour and I have yet to be disappointed by anything I have bought.

Walked into my local PC World yesterday to see in person how large the 27" screen looked just for research purposes , intended to buy via Applestore on line for the 14 day money back if not happy guarantee.

Ended up walking out with my very first Imac , the 21" entry lvl one and happy as larry as i wasn't expecting to actually buy in there and then :)

Decided , whilst very impressive looking the 27" was just too big for my work space.

Hope to upgrade the memory to 12 soon and just trying to get to grips with Snow Leopard after using windows for the last 20 odd years , fun and games!

A year ago, I bought the late 2009 iMac last May. Came home with the 21" because I thought the 27 was too large! Had a problem with the 21 and brought it back. Asked to upgrade to the 27 and I'll never look back! Doesn't feel too big at all. I'm more productive because I can see multiple windows at the same time. Love my machine!

Mine has been departing Sacramento for the last 2 days, anyone else have a similar issue?

Hm, that's happened to me a few times before with UPS Ground Shipping, especially when the departed facility is far away from the final destination. Call them up to put your mind at ease?

Mine's supposed to come in today, and I'm pretty anxious too.

Yeah I'm in Atlanta so I'm just hoping some FedEx guy is just trucking along day in and day out and hasn't been able to check in yet, you know, driving 2 days straight just to bring me my iMac. If only ;).

Myn came in this afternoon arround 2, but i was at work untill 7 so i rushed home ^^. Its amazing, the screen is soo big in real life (27" one), its more impressive in real then on pictures. I dont see any dead pixels or yellow tinting, so all is good (y).

One (temporary i supose) down side is the keyboard, its super small, i'm going to really have to get used to typing on this. But i'm sure i'll manage.

EDIT: yesyes, i have to clean my desk, but i had no time, i was too busy paying attention to the new mac!

i'm not too well with technical stuff so i'll copy and paste them from the email:
  • 3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
  • 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
  • 1TB Serial ATA Drive
  • AMD Radeon HD 6970M 1GB GDDR5
  • APPLE MAGIC MOUSE-Z
  • APPLE REMOTE
  • Apple WL Kybd+User's Guide-FN
  • COUNTRY KIT,IMAC-IEA
  • APP FOR IMAC (--> applecare)

First things i did, check for updates & install them, then check for updates again & it had a firmware update, installed that too (imac beeped when it restarted & it had a loading bar underneith the apple logo while booting), then, new wallpaper :), then installed msn, & thats about it for now..

Mine scheduled to arrive before 3pm PT, so a few more hours of anxiously looking out the window.

Yeah I think I'd install updates first too. Then run Boot Camp Assistant to prepare for an install of Windows 7. Sacrilege, I know, but I gotta see a video game running full speed on the 27-incher, without any Mac game port issues :p

Yeah, when it's such a big expensive item, we like to think they have a special truck just for delivering it :)

Should've first reinstalled OS X from scratch using the DVD's...

Wait, they don't? Curses!

OMG. Time had slowed down to a crawl as the 3pm deadline neared, but a sudden ring on the doorbell, and the friendly FedEx man was here.

He said he's delivered quite a few of these today, so who knows, it might be a truck carrying nothing but iMacs :p

Now to crack open that box. Or gobble down lunch. Priorities!

Update: This thing is huge and seamless, like a reflective monolith. The blacks on the screen are so, black. Liking the Magic Trackpad. And the speakers are surprisingly good!

Do a lot of people do this with their new Macs? Just wondering, as my 27" iMac is here tomorrow

I dont see any reason why i should have. I followed the standard install procedure and had my mac running in like 5/10mins, what took the most time probably was finding free space on my desk for the thing ^^.

Also, im a webdesigner, i know how to work (normally) with a computer, but if it comes down to installing OS's and such, i'd prefer playing safe & following the standard procedures..

I just got it. It was hard.

Hey!

I'm just back from a birthday party. Before I'll go to bed and join my girlfriend, I just want to say out loud: I got him. I got the huge 27" iMac. The better one, with the 2 GB GPU. Well, I didn't test its performance yet. But I plan to. As the 27" screen is new to me, I find it quite equally amazing and stunning. It's just huuuugeee. :)

For the moment, I am really happy. I got the Magic Trackpad in addition to my old but still very well working Logitech mouse. Nice combination in my opinion. Plus the extended keyboard.

See you tomorrow!
Good night from Germany.

Cheers.

Glad you're liking your new Mac. I'm marveling at it too. I thought I had a pretty sweet PC with an LED screen, but this iMac's IPS display really blows it out of the water. Netflix, Apple Trailers all seem to pop out more with rich blacks and vibrant colors. Some things are worth paying for, I guess!

Just bought 24" Apple Cinema Display for $659 AUD. Order a new 27" 2011 iMac, intel i7 processor, 2tb , 2GB AMD Radeon 6970M graphics card :)

Just ordered it!! I bought:

27" i7 3.4GHz
6970M 2GB
256GB SSD (no HDD)
4GB (aftermarketing 16GB)
Trackpad + wireless keyboard
Apple Care

Estimated ship date: 27th June....F-F-F-F-FUUUUUUUUUU!!!!

PS: Fortunately, I did get 6% off from NHS-Discounts :)

Just got my 27" this morning, leaving to work before I can try it out.
Questions for people who have bought BTO before:

Is it strange that my iMac box says i5 Quad core when I ordered a i7? Do they just use a generic box for BTO?

Is there any kind of receipt usually in the box? No order slip, nothing. Just computer, and the box with the accessories.

should be getting my 27" soon. got surprised with a 27" cinema display and new imac for graduation, can't wait, its such a huge upgrade from my 4 year old macbook and its 13" screen

This has never happened to me and I have bought lots of Macs.

I would insist on a proper box and label reflecting its contents. Or a discount. It will affect resale value too.
