Post more pictures of you new outlook desks with iMacs on them :) It is very interesting to look at these pictures.
Appreciated.

Ordered a 27" on Saturday with the 1TB + SSD option, so I've got a bit of a wait ahead of me.

I have an existing Mini (which, over time, ended up becoming my main computer and was the main motivation for making the switch to Apple), but this is my first, well, big Mac, as it were. I went with the 3.4 GHz i7 and the 2GB video card, and I intend to do the DIY upgrade to 12GB RAM. I wanted something that would be reasonably capable for scientific/numerical work and simulations, and almost went with a Mac Pro, but I will probably get a MacBook Pro for work, and the ability to work from home with the iMac as an external display helped me decide to go this way.

I've just got the call from my wife that my replacement i7 has just arrived and is sitting in our hall waiting for me to finish work, that's the good news.
The bad news is that the kids (3/2/1) think it hilarious to use the box as a trampoline and it's too heavy for my wife to move...

FedEx delivers early to my house apparently. Wife just sent me this. Ain't it a beauty... :) Excited to get home and get it unboxed.

Let Me Know What You Think

I'm planning on getting the 21.5" iMac, upgrading to the i7 and 2 TB hd. I'm going to add 8 gb of RAM myself to bump it to 12 gb total. Going to go with the full keyboard and trackpad. Also, waiting for the back to school discount to get a free ipod classic.

This will be your longest day @ work my friend ;)

Looks like the additional 8gb of RAM I ordered is going to be in the mail today as well. I have a feeling I won't be getting much sleep tonight. May be getting sick and will have to call into work tomorrow... cough.... cough... ;)

Just ordered my 27 inch iMac!!!:)

Ordered the i7 with the stock RAM as well as the 2TB HDD. I went with the 6970M 2GB AMD Radeon and the Apple trackpad. I also ordered the wired keyboard.

The estmated shipment window is between the 28th of May and the 2nd of June.

Cannot wait-this will be my first iMac!!!

OP -

Congrats .... use and enjoy your new machine.

Don't let what others say about so called problems bother you, if a problem does develop you will know on your own and Apple is there to help you.

I was a Windows user, and made a living in IT ( Novell and Microsoft MCSE ).

Personally I made the switch over 6 years ago.

I then migrated my entire family over to Apple OSX and my life got a whole lot easier. We have 6 systems here and when they were all Windows, I was coming home and having to do more work.

After switching to Mac's all those problems went away.

Dang I wish I could get my brother-in-law and neice two Mac's so the seemingly weekly "Help me with Windows" calls would stop.

That being said I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a new 21" with SSD for me, then to move my existing iMac to the family room to put an end to the "This PC is so slow" complaints from the wife. :)

iMac 21.5 Ordered!!

I'm in. First desktop in 20 years and other than my iPhone, the 1st Apple product.

Inbound is a 21.5", 2.8 i7, 8G, standard 1TB, everything else std except I added a magic trackpad & remote and the 3-yr coverage.

Looking fwd to replacing my annoying 3.5 year old HP 6910 notebook and staying with a Netbook W7 for travel as I do now. The 6910 has only 120G and crapware I don't know how to remove (yet) is a pain.

I am hoping the Apple OS stays clean and uncrapped for a while- if it does I'm sold.

I'm in. First desktop in 20 years...

Oh my goodness! I just realized that this is my first desktop in almost twenty years (boy, I'm old)!!:eek::eek:My dad bought my last desktop my third year in college.

My last desktop was a speedy Gateway2000 486 DX2 running at a blazing 66Mhz (it came with DOS and Windows 3.1). Prior to the Gateway 2000 my other 'desktop' computer was a Commodore 64c.

Really looking forward to my first desktop computer since 1993...:apple:

Cant wait to hear about your first moments with your new buddy!

I have split screens at work but have been laptop/notebook at home for at least 1995, man. This thing will be cool and I am glad I waited. P90X!

Got home and got the iMac out of the box. It's a beast for sure. Carefully unwrapped everything and before I even pulled off the plastic protector sheet, I went ahead and added the additional 8gb of memory that came in the mail today also. (I know, I probably should have waited to make sure the first boot went well, but I'm impatient)

So far, with just a little messing around, I'm impressed with the crispness of the display. I had a FaceTime chat with a friend of mine and all went smoothly. I'm currently downloading MS Office 2011. After that, I'll be getting all of my Adobe stuff installed. Excited to put this thing through it's paces.

One of my first impressions with the trackpad is the need to push click and not just touch like a laptop pad. Not a big deal but something I'm sure I'll get used to. I'll have the option of a mouse with my Wacom tablet once I get it hooked up. Interested to see how that tracks as well.

I'll get a better pic of the workspace once I get everything a little neater. :)

I guess my first question is going to be, why is my picture upside down? Doesn't appear upside down on my preview. I guess I'll to remember which rotation of my iPhone is correct.

Well guys, just received my replacement 27", and this time it does not seem to have any dead pixels or something not to my liking. It's a keeper. =D

Now, I'm going to try and stay away from this place for a while. =p

Enjoy! I'm still waiting for my first ever iMac. Decided to go for the SSD. The wait is a killer though. :(

The mid 2010 released imac is amazing. I got the refurbished 27 inch 2.93 ghz two weeks back and I have no complaints. Okay ... just one complaint is that my windows keeps restarting everyday because of some update or the other installed. But thats not apple's problem.

I use it mainly for matlab, photoshop, garageband apart from email, music and web browsing. Sometimes I have my matlab code running and I play music using my keyboard and connect it to garageband and vmware running windows. Now any one of them would have slowed my 2008 macbook. But with this machine, I can still manage to open my google chrome and surf the web without any issues. Talk about productivity !
