With 16MB of RAM all you can do is edit text files .. that too in dos format .. lol

Nah, you can do a heck lot more than that. You could edit videos at small definition resolutions, you can make HyperCard stacks, you can barely run OS 8...

Man, that brings back memories!

All day i was said that my new iMac had not shipped but i came home and found out that it did indeed ship today and should be here tomorrow :D its only shipping 4 hours or so away from me so shouldnt take long at all :)

iMac and Apple Remote

I was fiddling with the Apple Remote on my Mac while it wasn't running anything, just to get a feel of what the buttons do. Strangely enough, when I hit left on the remote, I started getting some sort of distorted sound, and pressing right killed it again. I got the impression that the iMac can do...FM radio?

Finally!!!

So my first generation white, Macbook, that I've had since 2006 died September 13th, 2010. We have been without an actual computer since then-we've just relied upon out iphones.

Well, I placed our order for the 27 inch i7 iMac last Tueday. We finally received it this past Saturday (I stood home all day awaiting its arrival-as my luck would have it FedEx delivered it after 1700 hours)!

What an awesome computer-I still can't believe how big and bright the display is-amazing! My wife also has fallen in love with the iMac. I'm glad to have waited.

It doesn't have FM radio.

I just ordered a 27 inch. This is my first brand new computer, bought from the store, and my second iMac.

My excitement for it, lead me to pay for the 2 day shipping. I cant freaken wait.

I'm going from a g4 17in iMac.

Ordered a 27" today, I've been wanting to get a more powerful machine for ages as Aperture is very sluggish on my MBP.

Ordered 21 inch, 1Tb,+SSD, 8Gb last week, yesterday it is on its way to the courier, with an estimated delivery date of Jun 12.

However my Applecare started yesterday, isn't that a bit wrong to have 10 days Applecare eaten up by delivery process, before I've even taken it out of the box?

Judging by my recent iMac order-Applecare becomes effective the day you register your computer with Apple.

Got my iMac 27inch 3.4Ghz and MacBook Pro 15inch with Hi-Res glossy screen around 5 days ago and I am really impressed. I don't know about you guys but it is a massive leap forward - videos encoding super fast, games are fluid on both computers etc. Apple have come a long way since I first moved over to the Mac platform a little under a decade ago.

Out for Delivery!

My 21.5" i7 BTO is going to leave FedEx custody and into my paws today! I was planning on washing and waxing the cars but that may get shelved...

Thought I'd post this here as well. My 2011 21.5" iMac next to it's relatives!

Nice lean and clean setup. Mine, my first iMac, would be similar exc for an
HP Netbook in place of your Pad. And I added the Trackpad - but have no clue how it works yet.

Just got the 21.5 yesterday and am still sorting out things. I did confirm it will not fit btwn a loft bed and desk underneath so I'm doing a clean open setup like yours on an elfa shelf system I have hung in another room//

Cant wait to order mine!

Ive been a PC user for my whole live (17 now) I first started using macs at my college for music production, they were the ugly white plastic imacs, i hated them, and i was the only one in my class that hated them. The college got robbed FORTUNATLY, as within the next to days the college bought loads of new imacs (there old now, 2 years old) but they were shiny aluminium ones that were faster and sleeker than the previous gen. They were also running 10.6, and thats where i fell in love with the mac, 10.6 was beautifully crafted, much better than crappy 10.5 (urgh) I got more used to the macs all the time, and i started another course at the college where we had to use imacs, they were still the aluminium macs but they are running 10.5 (its tolerable, but i dont like it much) For what i wanted to do i decided to save up and get a new imac when it comes out, and now it has i must wait for the college ipod (i need the ipod, aint got an i0s device since i sold my 3gs) so i can get the most for my money. These new imacs are fu**ing BEASTS, ive decided to go for the i5 27 inch imac with 2gb graphics card, and a total of 12gb of ram (upgraded by myself with 2x 4gb sticks from crucial memory) so i can do film converting, music production, gaming and other powerful intense stuff you can do on a gorgeous 27 inch high res display. Ive decided to go for the i5 because i like to close what i dont use, where it be a program or a tab on google chrome, to conserve as much computer resources as possible, so a powerful i5 is perfect for me, as i would never have more than 4 programs open at once (as the i5 has for cores, it can utilize each core for each program) i dont think the i7 is worth it as it only proveds a 0.3 increase in speed, and a 0.2 increase when both the i5 and i7 processors are in turbo boost mode. Sure, hyperthreading increases the performance slightly, but not many programs can take advantage of it and i think it would be better to dedicate one core to the os, and have 3 cores avalible to dedicate to 3 other programs, having turbo boost to speed them all up. If ive got 12gb of ram and 2gb graphics performance, they will surely more than make up for the gaming and music production, as having more than 4 programs open, the ram will keep the programs running fast and lets face it, 3.1ghz is crazy fast anyway. It makes sense upgrading the graphics and ram instead of upgrading the processor slightly. Cant wait to order it, its gonna be immense :D

I just gave my order info to a friend who works at an Apple Store, and he's placing it tomorrow. 15% discount stacked on a 2% cashback credit card!

27 in. screen
3.4 GHz Quad-Core i7
2 TB HD + 256 GB SSD
2 GB graphics card
4 GB RAM (I'll upgrade it to 12 on my own).
Wired keyboard with number-pad
Magic Trackpad

Glee!!!! Good-bye 2006 Macbook 1,1. You served me well, but it's time we part ways. When I can't edit photos or even watch the videos that my camera takes, you've outlived your usefulness.

Ok Picked up a 2011 Imac 21.5 inch with the 1tb drive. I have a question on the ram $200 for 8gb is beyond funny at the Apple Store, how hard is it to replace yourself? It's a dynamite machine.

People that are getting iMacs at the moment... Are they specced with SSDs? I ordered mine 4 of the 4-6 weeks ago and I'm getting itchy :(

I want my mac!
