I will return my 15" and put in an order after the weekend.

Why are you asking? Do you know something we don't know? Hmm!

:eek:

M

Buy it now; apologize later. :D

Yeah, if it was $500 I would...$3000 is a little different. :p

Tomorrow we find out if we're getting a house this year or not, if no house then that means new toys for me...if house that means PBJ for the rest of the year and no Macbook pro. :-(

If you have the money, I'd get the house; prices are low right now.

Yeah that's why we're looking but we're getting married too and we're not sure if we can swing both in one year. I tried to postpone the wedding...that didn't go over well. :(

you could always just get the MBP on finance.

We've spent the last 7 months paying off all debt...I'm not about charge more especially when I have a 4 month old macbook that works fine. :)

I'm thinking about it.

How much ya think I can get on Ebay for a 17 inch 2.4 santarosa that I bought about 1 1/2 years ago.

+1

if you already have something that works - save the money for your house. That shouldn't even be a question.

haha... I hate to say it.. but more of a reason not splurge on something personal

Bought a 15" MBP this weekend...haven't decided yet...but I have a receipt signed by the Apple Store manager saying I'll have no restocking fee on a return...

Tempting...

ordered 10 minutes after keynote ended. status says unit ships on Feb 4th. ADC pricing so it was a bit easier to take.....

if i was in the market for a 17", id def buy one.

macworld delivered everything i would want in a 17"

1. matte option
2. great battery life (i dont swap out my battery)
3. aluminum unibody design
4. FW 800

Picked up a 2.93Ghz Glossy model with 4GB and a 320 7200RPM HDD. Have the 8GB Kit on the way and a 500GB 7200RPM on the way as well...Gotta love an old-school employee discount!!!

I'm thinking about it, but at 4-6 week wait for the matte, I'll probably leave it for a while.

I really wanna see a proper pic of the 17" matte one, I couldn't find any on the Apple website. Only pic I've seen is the one that was shown in the keynote.

in about 20 min i'm buying:

* 2.93GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
* 4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
* 320GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200 rpm
* SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
* MacBook Pro 17-inch Hi-Resolution Glossy Widescreen Display
* Backlit Keyboard (English) / User's Guide
* Apple Remote
* Microsoft Office Mac 2008 - Home and Student Edition
* Canon PIXMA MP620 Photo All-in-One Printer
* AppleCare Protection Plan for MacBook Pro (w/or w/o Display) - Auto-enroll

good choice?! if not someone stop me now! haha

And that's why our economy is in the crapper. Not a smart idea.

I agree. Unless you are a pro and make money off your notebook then you can justify the purchase. When the economy recovers houses won't be cheaper but notebooks will always lose its value later.

I say wait it out first. Because of things like the new battery and new chassis this is technically a Rev A product. Lets let the super-excited-need-to-have-it- now-folks beta test it first. :)

I'm ordering the 17" at full spec. (except the 8GB of RAM, I'll wait until it drops in price.)

Can't wait, this will be my first Mac :]

I just ordered it:

The only problem is that the delivery date is 27 FEB 2009!!!

you have to be kidding.

So if you don't get the house you will piss away 3k on a computer that could put you closer to getting you a house?

and people wonder why so many people have money problems.

when it came to getting my first house everything was cut that wasn't required. This meant the primo cell plan, the over channeled cable setup, and such. A house is worth more that crap that won't last but a few years, then again we can see the sensibility of people by looking at the cars at apartment complexes.
