By this time tomorrow you'll either have a new MBP on order or be nursing racoon eyes. :D
 
I'm going to order a 17" soon. Will prob only upgrade the HD to the 320GB 7200 (SSD is too expensive to me) as go for the matte display.

That is very interesting. Maybe it is the Thai keyboard. I doubt any of them will ship on time though ..... I only say that because I want it so bad something has to go wrong!
 
I ordered my 17" last night. I'm switching from a PC and this will be my first Mac ever. I ordered the 2.93 GHz, 4 MB Ram, 320 HD 7200 rpm and the matte screen. I can't wait! But sadly, my order says that it won't ship until Feb. 20. I'll have to try to be patient....

Same here. The problem is that I have go to Australia on the 18th of Feb for another 3 months! Considering the Thais use the same keyboard layout as the US and Australia (the only difference being the characters printed on the chiclet keys), I still don't understand why otherwise someone in Thailand has to send it to Australia. :(
 
Damn, orders are now backed up until the end of February!? :( I really hope stores carry them, I'm lucky enough to have three Apple stores within a 40 mile radius so I'm assuming at least one will have a new 17" in stock when they hit at the end of the month. I hope so....

Are you guys doing anything special that is making them take this long or is this just how many orders they've received?

Anyone try another retailing other than Apple(like Amazon)? Also, is there an advantage of ordering from Apple vs going to the store?

I ordered mine Wednesday with the faster CPU and It will be here Feb 10th, I think its due to your location or keyboard choices?

Same here-exactly what I'd been waiting for & oldest student in town discount helped! Here in UK, shipping is quoted as 3 Feb with delivery by 16th-I can't wait!!!

It replaces my Sony AR21S 17" with Vista & integrated Blu-ray (used once!) and satellite TV tuner. That has been a fairly persistent nightmare with crashes and battery failure. Cannot understand all the Blu-ray fuss, my understanding is that you can only see the difference on an HD TV that's 32" plus (could be wrong though!).

I seriously think it's because of the keyboard choice. To produce the unibody they have to specially cut the machine keyboard layout for each and every keyboard layout possible. I ordered right when the online store was back online and still my shipping date will be 18 Feb! (Deliver on the 27th!!)

No tax for orders in some states (not NY:mad:) for online stores like Amazon, best buy has a 14 day (no questions asked) return policy....I have read some horror stories about buying a $2000 30" ACD with dead pixels (less than 5) and being stuck with it:eek:.

I myself buy from the apple store. I some how think its better to buy from then directly, I remember the crazy eddie old days when you could get a great deal, then find out later it was grey market or a refurbished machine.

But since I buy a machine every 5 years, maybe someone else has a better eye on the market...
 
Mine comes on the 9th :D

Hopefully there won't be any major manufacturing flaws like the 15".....guess we can rule out the lose battery cover hahaha. Someone ought to make a thread around when they come out so we can expedite any defects and profile the screen panels etc....maybe those will come from one provider this time ;]
 
8 hour battery life. Holy crap did I read that right

Is it true the new 17" MBP will have an 8 hour battery life span. Holy crap I hope that is true.

A lot of people that can afford Macs probably aren't affected by the downturn in the economy, but I must agree that seems like a bad idea.

I'd get a 17", but I already have a 15" and can't really see the point - plus I'd hate not being able to take a spare battery with me. I can't wait until they're in store though, I'm lusting to see one in person!

Why are some people getting earlier dates? If I order a base machine to shipment in the US will I have it the first week of Feb?

Nice on the 8GB of ram, I was going to get that myself but couldn't justify it right now. But knowing the fact it can go to 8GB makes me a happy panda. Does anyone know if you can mix match 4gb and 2gb sticks in the MBP? Will you lose memory performance IE Dual Channel.
