For now, Apple in today's open letter stated FULL refund for UNDAMAGED iPhone within 30 days. AT&T has always allowed for a 30 day Window to cancel, return equipment and revert to old plan, if any without ETF, but paying for what you used during the time.

So you are good. Return within 30 days

Can you return iPhone 4 to Apple if bought from AT&T?

I have read that Apple is ditching the 10 % restocking fee if some wants to return their iPhone 4. I bought mine online from AT&T Premier. Was anyone able to return to Apple or AT&T without paying the restocking fee ?
Thanks

When called ATT premier on Monday to return my phone, the guy I spoke with said they could not waive the 10% restocking fee. I told him that I was returning it because the phone was not functional, not because I didn't like it. He put me on hold for 30 sec, came back and said they could not waive the fee.

I said OK, boxed up the phone, and went back to a crappy Sony W800i (because I sold my previous iphones )

Then yesterday, I called ATT back and told them that I didn't feel it was right that I was charged the restocking fee. I have been a customer for 7 years, the reception problem is real and documented, and apple is waiving the restocking fee.

The nice lady said that she understood and that she could not refund the restocking fee BUT she could credit my bill $50!

Thank you very much ATT.

Just call back be polite but firm and good things may happen.

Will apple let me return phone for a white?

Will they let me return my phone for a white one if I was too pay the restocking fee?

Also what if I upgraded to a 32 gig?

Just wondering what are my chances for either situation.

As long as you're within your 30 day period, yes. You'll just have to return it, get your money and then purchase a white one. I would recommend returning it to one place, then purchasing at another ... but that's just to avoid the eye rolls and looks of disbelief.

If you purchased it at the Apple store you wont have a problem, you still have the right to your money back from elsewhere it's just so easy at the Apple store

AT&T won't waive restocking fee for exchange iPhone 4

Anyone else successfully exchange iPhone at ATT store with no restocking fee? My iPhone have this temperature error screen twice yesterday and I barely use it. And it was not excessively hot, it was warm though. Among other problems include bars dropping with bumper on and two dust under the screen.

You have a one year warranty with apple so you can take it in, but they will determine if it can be exchanged or not based on what is wrong with it.

I suggest you go to apple for an exchange if you have a serious problem. They exchanged mine for the no sim issue and if you can replicate the problem and print out pages from the apple forum where others have endured the issue then you should get an exchange no problem.

Most likely, the white iPhone will come out after your 30 day window has expired. So the answer would be no.

You should be able to, but at my store while I was in line the employee ushering the line made it clear that if we were planning on buying a black iPhone and then swapping it for a white, that it wouldn't be allowed and that all sales were final. You might have to return it and then purchase the white at another store.

Apple store employees were quoted saying they will not be accepting exchanges for White iPhones.

Apple is obligated to refund your money if you don't want the iPhone anymore. They are NOT obligated to exchange it because you don't like the color and couldn't wait for the White iPhone.

There will be a way around it, but it will be tough. You'll have to return your current phone, and cancel the contract. You'll then have to wait until AT&T refreshes your account to get your upgrade back, and then you can go buy a White iPhone. Knowing Apple and AT&T, they'll make this process as difficult as possible.

Just return it then, and point to the Apple website for proof of a full refund. I cannot imagine AT&T would ignore that one. Then if you still want it, re-buy it from Apple later.

I called ATT premier this past Monday to return my phone and they said they could not waive the restocking fee. I argued that the phone is defective, he put me on hold for 30sec, came back and said he could not do it.

Then I called back on Thursday and spoke to a nice lady. I explained that I am not returning the phone because I didn't like it or was changing carriers. I returned it because it's not functional for me. This reception problem is real whether Apple wants to admit it or not. Apple is waiving restocking fees and I would like my fee waived or account credited.

She said she that she understood the problem and will credit my bill $50 because she cannot credit back the restocking fee!!

Awesome, thank you very much ATT!

So lesson learned ... if you don't get what you want at first, call back and speak to someone else. Be polite but firm with your position and good things will happen!

BTW - I am sticking with ATT and will purchase a 32GB i4 as soon as this reception problem is fixed.

I waited in line at an Apple store on launch day and an employee specifically stated "If you think you are going to buy a buy a black one today and then exchange it for a white one when they come out, do not waste you time in line. WE WILL NOT BE DOING THAT."

If push come to shove, i'll return mines and buy it from another location. I'm still having reception problems so it shouldn't be a problem.
