I'm going to try my darndest to hold out until a 13" retina model is released. I will probably want to buy the 15" though if I see it in person.

Maybe the warm comforting glow of my retina iPad3 screen will hold me over; I'll just coddle it and rock back and forth, sobbing...

So pretty soon,eh? My 2008 MBP is getting pretty long in the tooth.

:) just noticed you wrote that in 2009.

Stop waiting. I also have a 2008 and I'm jumping the boat. Can't take it anymore, urge to spend money rising

I'm waiting for flying cars and flux capacitors!

What about a hover board from Mattel?

My 2008 MacBook has been great to me, but a Haswell rMBP is sure looking nice. Hopefully Apple will put a decent GPU in there.

I already ordered mine since then, can't wait for haswell. Too uncertain

This was a very entertaining thread to read. I have a 2011 MacBook Air but am looking at getting the Haswell 13" rMBP whenever that comes out. Can't wait!

I have the '11 air which I think I'll clean up and give to the girlfriend, and get a 15" rMBP for myself once Haswell comes out. I'm hoping the prices of the SSD will drop too, or at least have a larger default capacity.

I tried holding out, in fact, got a bit stubborn about it. But my late 2006 2.16GHz C2D was acting-up for months--system freezes & black screens. I finally caved at the end of December & got a 15" rMBP. Needed to be done.

Using my 2009 Macbook and so ready to upgrade to haswell rMBP hehe. Would be nice if the price drops a little like the airs did but maybe that'll be another year

Yeah. The prices Apple charge for flash storage upgrades are pretty extreme. Personally I can't see myself buying anything under a 512gb SSD so I hope the prices drop too! Maxing out 256gb these days. Like you, will either sell my current Air or give to the wife. Air used to satisfy my needs but now that the rMBP's are reasonably light and offer so much more relative performance and that gorgeous display. Can't justify buying another Air anymore.

What killed me was the circumstances around the purchase of my air. My house was broken into, and I knew if I could just hold out I could get a Retina MacBook Pro, but I wasn't sure how long I would have to wait, and spending almost $3000 on a machine without USB 3.0 was downright insulting.
