not liking your negativity...

lol I prefer to call it being realistic ;)

EDIT-BTW just cause there's no event (which I personally doubt there will be) doesn't mean they won't be released on the 14th (which I think they will be) and in fact the lack of an event makes them more likely to be available on the 14th rather than 2 weeks or a month later (at least that's my thinking, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong)

But I would consider the redesign from the iBook to the MacBook to be a major one and they didn't have an event even then

Alu cases plus nVidia chipsets seems like a lot to introduce "quietly" , particularly if this change includes the MBP as well as MB. The previous redesign of the MB might have been major, but had less visual impact than the rumoured new case designs.

No event suggests to me the redesign is not coming next week.

Round the world the same hysteria, all of us in Germany waiting us the apple user from states

Steve, you kill me with your tactic

Sincerely

Possible invite slogans...

"About as subtle as a flying brick"

"There's something in the Brick"

Any other suggestions? I'm posting the best ones on my blog once the invite is released.

"The Brick. You'll **** one on the 14th when we announce new MacBook (Pros)."

The switch from ibook to macbook was before apple had realllllly hit the map. sure they were doing great but until the ipod boomed no one really cared. so now apple holds an event for anything. it really helps them sell their products much faster. the media gets the word out like a rocket.

But... they went iBook>MacBook 5 years AFTER the iPod?

Its Tuesday and no announcement...

...does that mean there won't be an event next week? Doesn't Apple give one week notice and all?

good question. i had expected a press invite to a special event by now. i thought they were usually sent out 2-3 weeks before the event.

and given what big announcement they made for the ipod nano release i would have expected a similar announcment for a redesign of their entire notebook line.

that could mean it's either a small update and no redesign or the release is not in october.

maybe with the economy going down the toilet they want to wait for a better release date when the dust has settled over wall street......

I'm sooo wishing

And hoping

And praying

I've Been considering a MacBook since January, and when I heard rumors in June/July I decided to hold off. I'm still holding off. :(

It makes me sick when people are saying "I've been waiting since august!!! Come on apple!" :D

*I have faith I have faith I have faith*

Bah, there's nothing wrong with hype - it's like Christmas Eve all year round!

Actually - it's like 11am on Christmas morning, when you realise that all you got was a pair of socks that sing 'Jingle Bells'

Instead of a blu-ray enabled MBP with easily replaceable HDD, a higher res screen and maglatch.

Thanks, Debbie Downer. Merry Christmas to you, too.:p
