Invites Are Coming - It's A Done Deal!

Guys, I have it on the best of authorities that the invites are coming out today. See, during the last full moon, I swung a dead chicken in a bag over my head 13 times while repeating "Steve Jobs, you must deliver on Oct. 14". Then I buried the chicken in my back yard. Well, early this morning, mushrooms sprouted on the very spot where I buried the chicken!!!

So, there you have it from the best of authorities: the invites are coming today and the event will be on the 14th. I'll bet all the new polyester curtains in my double-wide. It's a done deal. There's just no arguing with the mushrooms...:D

Sorry, just couldn't resist havin' a little fun with this...hope it eases the tension a bit.

There's someone being quite strong on the comments at macsoda saying there's nothing happening today, and no event on the 14th.

Who is that guy and what does he know that we don't?

No, I think it's just some guy who us trying to act l33ty by going against the crowd.

OMG nobody will ever trust the guy that first posted this date if we don't see an invite today!:p wasn't it the Digg guy who talked about the 14th at first?

yes but when did the ipod REALLY take off? at what point did you see EVERYONE carring an ipod? in my opinion thats when apple really took off. 2005-2006. back then too apple was all about their music and not so much their computers. dont get me wrong it was still awesome, but they were pushing the ipod. there was no reason for a huge laptop release. now on the other hand everyone has an ipod and the age where kids have laptops is only getting younger. therefore it shows more the reason they would have a huge event to introduce their now more portable macbooks aimed at the entry level students and base consumers now instead of then.

just my opinion.

But the MacBook was launched in 2006. And there was an event for that.

Assuming there is an event, I'm fairly new to Macs, but others have said they've never had an event for macbooks

No but they did have a special event for the launch of the original white iBook. The iBook G3.

Here is a link to the keynote video showing the unveiling of that device. Having a sepcial even for a product that Apple (or more importantly Steve) finds important, is not uncommon.

Do you think that an event for the Aluminum-US-Manufactured product line is a MUST?

I feel like something this big isn't just gonna appear on the Apple Store.

I'm going to be disappointed if there isn't an event announced.

I DO wonder though, if maybe Apple has a NDA with its event annoucement. I'm not sure what purpose that would serve though, as I would imagine Apple would want us tunning in.

I agree. If they had an event for the new iPod nanos then why wouldn't they do the same for the new MB and MBP? This update is huge!
