Where are the Oct 14th Invites?

wasn't the Lets rock event announced one week before? Maybe the curent economic situation is stalling things a bit?

what you guys think?

2 PM PST and no invites means there's probably no event.

It's very possible we'll all have to wait until MWSF for the notebook updates.

There was no hard evidence of an October 14th event.

There may have been a plan, and it could have been scrapped.

They may be doing it later.

They may have bumped it a week.

Nobody knows :) And we work ourselves into a panic trying to guess. Everyone just relax; inhale, drink or inject the calming chemicals of your choice, and wait until APPLE tells us when the event will be :)

And if you need a computer now, buy it. And if you don't, wait :)

The thing with the MBand MBP is that there is unlikely to be anything to demonstrate. Yes, they may well be pretty, but that's not really enough for a presentation - the message will get across perfectly well, if not better, with high quality website/press release images. What would happen at the demo - "Here's the new MB and MBP - see how pretty they are! They are still made the same way as before because that lasers and solid metal business is, frankly, prepostorous. Instead, most of the ports are on the power adapter so that its kind of like a docking station. Any questions?". 2 minutes tops?

While the Let's Rock event was pretty light on ground-breaking hardware, it had software, particularly the new Genius feature, which really needed SJ to show it off and convince everyone it was a big deal. It wouldn't have worked to have released iTunes 8 without a demo.

Exactly.

Have you been taking crazy pills? The first redesign of the laptop design in 6 years doesnt get an event? I dont think so. Im officially in what some people call a pickle, Ive been waiting for 6 months while my dell barely hangs on. The idea of waiting another 3 months makes we want to vomit, but sitting there as the new MBP come out in 3 months with my old version isnt too appealing either...what to do

well i wouldn't want to do a happy product release on a day the dow drops below 8000:eek: so maybe they just wait and see if the economy stabilizes or they run out of old stock. whatever is first.

Did you even read what I was quoting? What I was quoting makes logical sense. Also, Apple didn't have an event when they moved from the Powerbook to the Macbook.

Is Apple really gonna have a big event to say "Hey look, we have new macbooks, they are aluminum. They will be in stores today." Seems like a waste of time and money to me.

invites not necessary

Didn't the "let's rock" invites come Monday afternoon and the iPod event was Tuesday? [ok, the confirmation it was a full week ahead of time - we can hope for NO EVENT and still releasing Tuesday the 14th]

Let's not all get too down here.

Plus, with the economy down, Apple can actually help by using us fanatics to get the economy rolling. Apple can better its own stock by being the top computer company who made the money even in the fourth quarter 2008.

So, I still say we are on for the 14th. Event announced Monday, maybe? No event, probably even more likely.

Don't get down. Us Apple fanatics can unite and show that the economy is only a crisis for non-innovative companies that never ever thought outside the box.

Go Apple Incorporated!

If you are suggesting that the invites were sent out less than 24 hours before the actual event, you are very much mistaken (for obvious reasons)

If I remember correctly, invites for the Let's Rock event were sent out exactly one week prior the event.

Could it be possible that they are postponing the event because Jobs is sick? Since there has been rumors that he is not in the greatest of conditions. Also he did look amazingly frail during the "lets rock event".

"There's something in the Brick"
"Coming down on you like a ton of bricks."
:D

"Let's roll" ((let's) rock and (let's) roll)

The August 2007 Mac event's invites were sent out just before 7:00 PM EST.

It also looks like the rumor posted a few days ago about notebooks not coming until November or later may be true! :(

And no, I don't think we will see updates at MWSF.

Uh, Apple introduced its most important computer update of the past five years with no event. That computer was MacBook, back in 2006 and it just appeared on the store with no warning.

I don't see why they need to waste money on events when they can generate just as much hype without doing so.
