I don't know how anyone can think that it's the perfect phone. I still get so frustrated every time my 13 Pro Max's Face ID fails to recognize me with a mask on (when is Touch ID coming back?). Also, I would rather have a punch-hole rather than a notch.

And the new Do Not Disturb mode is a step back from before.
I agree with all of this.
I get the feeling though that we might get a MaskID at some point in the next 12 months. They were testing it.
Yeah, hole punch would def be better than the notch. No doubt about it, but that's the trade off for FaceID and I love FaceID for banking etc.
Having looked much into the Focus thingy, but seems not very useful. I don't want people knowing that I've put them on Do Not Disturb.

It is a very good phone though. Just if it had a smaller notch/punch hole and TouchID or MaskID it would have been an absolute killer.

Calling the phone "flagship" doesn't make it appealing. That may impress you, but it doesn't impress me. Every Apple phone I've ever bought, up until this year, was "flagship". They were also heavy and hard to deal with. I ordered the mini. Just because I don't see value in MagSafe, Face ID, and a huge heavy phone doesn't mean I don't value everything else.

It's hilarious to me how people defend heavy, large, hard to deal with phones. You would absolutely appreciate a smaller bezel, a lighter weight, and an overall smaller device. However, every year Apple makes the phones bigger and heavier. All the blind witnesses oblige, and defend it.
I think you meant to put ‘I’. Don’t speak for myself and others who have zero issue with the weight and size of the phones. Sorry, but not everyone feels the way you do despite your campaigning throughout the forums for lighter, smaller phones.

Exactly. I don’t find the iPhone pros hard to deal with. Don’t even know what that means. Unless you have really small hands the iPhone 12 pro and the 13 Pro are just fine. The weight of it is good not difficult by any means where you can’t carry or use it.

Please forgive me. I didn’t realize you want a larger bezel, a heavier phone, and an even larger device. The good news is Apple may once again increase all these things next year.

Thing is, Apple offers devices that are not as heavy, or large. Have you perused the mini or SE? Looks like they might be right up your alley. As for me, the bigger the better. And looking at sales year after year, it appears the majority are fine with the size and weight. I mean, unless they just enjoy throwing $1k+ at a device they don’t intend to use. I’m sorry you’re so torn up over this. Maybe next year they’ll make one out of cardboard.

What do your previous comments have to do with my interests? You specifically stated you wouldn’t appreciate a smaller bezel, a lighter device, or a smaller device. Keep in mind that I never mentioned sacrificing screen size. That means you don’t want innovation. You want the opposite. You want bigger heavier phones, and even larger bezels. After so many people claiming to want the opposite for the past 10 years (get rid of the chin and forehead), you seem to want them back.

It’s not difficult to draw the conclusion that someone ranting about the size and weight must prefer a smaller, lighter phone.

So let me make sure I understand… making a phone smaller, lighter, etc is innovation? That’s an interesting take.

And wtf are you talking about with bigger bezels? The 13 Pro and Pro Max resemble the 8 and 8 plus? Please, continue to educate me and the rest here.

People on here must not follow or care about the car industry. Why? Well cars have gotten bigger. Why? Families have gotten bigger. Seen the hottest car segment right now? Mid size suvs are close to full size suvs nowadays. Vans are like houses. Everybody wants bigger and 3 rows. People here want 2 days of battery but on an iPhone 6 size. GTFOH. People just don’t know or live under a tiny rock. We require bigger batteries therefore we require bigger phones.

Play semantics with someone else. All you want to do is go in circles. Address your initial comments, and stop trying to change the subject to something else every time you realize you make no sense.

Thanks for educating us all on car sales trends. I’ll keep that in mind the next time I’m shopping for underwear. It has just as much in common with a phone. Absolutely nothing.

No you fool. I’m giving an example as to why bigger is better. Settle down boy.

Ha!! I addressed my initial comments, I addressed your various comments, and I gave context to help you along. What more do you want? You came across someone who can snap back and now you’re playing the semantics card? Come on you can do better than this.

Let’s take this slow..
1. Yes I like larger screens
2. No the size doesn’t bother me
3. No the weight doesn’t bother me
4. No one said anything about bezels lmao
5. If they make a lighter phone, great. But I won’t shed tears over the current ones.
6. Making thinner, lighter, smaller is not “innovating”.

Feel free to go back and re-read my comments. It’s really not that challenging 😅

All aspects I never mentioned. I stated everyone would appreciate a lighter smaller phone with smaller bezels. Once again, I never mentioned a smaller display. You disagreed. Now you agree. See….circles.

Have you ever personally tried rounding up a herd of cats? Me neither. But it really is the most fitting analogy for your posts. They are all over the place. I’m not just in circles, I’m just straight perplexed.

I’m a giving person. So here, I give you the comment you made that I responded to. Read it verrrrrry carefully. I said don’t umbrella everyone as having issues with the size and weight. I also said not everyone feels the same as you. WHERE do you see anything about bezels or any of this other crap you’re bringing up now? Good grief pull it together. 04E2559A-8B38-4B55-9C90-ABC07C8C7B7F.png

So you take a screen shot of a comment that doesn't even show the aspect of my post that you are suggesting you responded to? Makes total sense.

My post quoted word for word.

"It's hilarious to me how people defend heavy, large, hard to deal with phones. You would absolutely appreciate a smaller bezel, a lighter weight, and an overall smaller device. However, every year Apple makes the phones bigger and heavier. All the blind witnesses oblige, and defend it."

Now, YOU read them carefully. I absolutely mentioned bezels. I never mentioned a reduction in screen size. I never mentioned you have an issue with the current weight or size.

What I did say is "You would absolutely appreciate a smaller bezel, a lighter weight, and an overall smaller device."

Seeing as you can't read posts for exactly what they are, I will clarify once again to end this game you want to play. People who defend the current size and weight of the Pro phones would absolutely appreciate a light smaller phone with smaller bezels. However, that doesn't mean they aren't willing to deal with the current state of the Pro phones.

You've already admitted to welcoming smaller bezels, and a lighter weight. Therefore, my post holds true and this whole back and forth with you was pointless. Thanks for proving my point.

I started typing a long retort and stopped. You are right. Phones with larger screens but lighter, less cumbersome, and smaller overall package would be more than welcomed. Maybe rounded edges again, continued smaller bezels, thinner, much lighter, etc. Yes, I would welcome that. I apologize. You are correct, I chose to argue, and I really don’t want to be a d**k to someone who in real life I would almost assuredly sit down and have a beer with.

@tis after all that, I haven’t seen, are you upgrading? If so which model? I’m stuck on an 11 because PWM has been an issue for me. I would like to try one or the new models. Not sure about the max. Why? The extra heft and size in pockets. Yeah, the very things I said don’t bother me. If I’m finally honest, the weight in ‘certain’ situations for me is an annoyance. Enough situations to where I then lean pro. Anyway, just curious what you’ve decided to do.

I’ve had an XS for 3 years. At the time I purchased it, there weren’t as many options as there are today in regards to new performance specs spread across multiple phones. Therefore, even though it pushed the line on size for me, at the time, and is a tad heavier than I like, I’ve kept it for this long. I bought the 12 last year, and returned it. I really don’t want my phone getting any bigger. I bought the 12 again this year, due to the discount I got, and returned it again. It cemented the fact that I just don’t want my phone getting bigger than the XS. I’ve ordered the Mini, but it hasn’t arrived yet. If I love it, I’ll keep it. Otherwise, it’ll go back and I’ll pay for a battery change in my XS and use it for another year, which is still remarkably fast for its age. I feel like it’s actually improved with IOS 15. There really is no reason for me to upgrade other than the fact that my XS could use a new battery.

I’ve had $1,300 in my Apple balance for over a year due to gift cards stacking up. So last years phone would have been free, and so would this years phone. It just seems that there isn’t a perfect option these days. You either have to accept bigger and heavier to get everything, or make a compromise on something to get lighter and smaller. If they’d just make a 5.4-5.6” screen option Pro model, and get rid of the “base” iPhones, I think the choices would be easier.

Extremely well said. I expect next year to be much the same. Imagine if they really do try and make the camera flush. That would be a much larger and heavier phone (I’d think anyway).

I would be fine with a pro model with aluminum for the sides and back. Many I imagine would say they no longer get a premium feel. But I think it would make a large reduction in weight.

I also wish the options were done differently. Make all of the versions on par with each other so that only screen differential and inherent weight are different. Use the same materials that are lighter, for every phone.

Exactly. Apple has no way to determine what the market actually wants without doing so. If they actually discontinue the Mini next year, based upon sales, tons of people will state that no one wanted a smaller phone. Really? What if only 25% of the people that bought the Pro model only bought it for status, looks, or spec improvements, but would actually prefer a smaller device? There is no way to prove it either way without introducing a smaller Pro device. They’re sabotaging smaller phone enthusiasts from the start.

I'm pretty high on what the 13Pro is...I have a device in my pocket that shoots 10 bit ProRes and does a wide range of other stuff really well. If the photo aspect of the pro didn't appeal to me so much, I'd definitely be on the mini train. I owned both the 5S and the OG SE. There's some true Marie Kondo light in weilding a small phone. The 13Pro is my phone zen right now (just pretending the pixel 6 isn't coming out in like 10 days...I'm sure it will be fine).

Yeh, about that. I was really hoping for an earlier release of the Pixel 6 so I could try it out before the release of the ip13. Besides my new ip13, which I'm really pleased with, I also use a Pixel 4a5g - which is, for the price, a phenomenal phone. Like you, now I have my ip13, I'll try not to even side glance at all the up and coming Pixel 6 commercials because I'll probably cave in!😀
